Guys,
My Xbox arcade is about 3month old (3rd X360 since 2005 replacing my previous elite which 3rodded) - I noticed last night that there was a hissing (static) sound coming out of my speakers.
It's connected via HDMI to a SONY STR-5500ES amp, I also have an ACRYAN, PS3 and AstroBeyond connected to the amps via HDMI- I've tested all these devices and they do not give out the hissing sound. I've swapped HDMI cables between the XBOX & PS3 still same problem (PS3 no hissing sound even using the XBOX HDMI cable) so I think I can rule out HDMI cables and the amplifier as the culprit.
It may be grounding but if so why are the other devices (connected to wall sockets next to each other) not giving the problem. Thing is I'm not sure whether this problem was already around since day1 (I only noticed it when picking up a CD which fell in front of my main speakers).
Anyone experiencing the same problem? any solution?
cheers

Yes there is static sound on the dashboard, infact it is more prominent while in the dashboard since things rarely are quite while playing games.
The xbox is on the AV rack with TV, amps and other av equipment (ps2, ps3, old xbox, dreamcast, wii, acryan, astro etc). There's a network switch behind the rack (at least 3ft away from the xbox), stepdown converter and probably a bunch of power supplies for the xbox and other equipment- Normal stuffs I can say- doubt they're causing interference.
Will try uplugging all the other HDMI stuffs- doubt it will solve anything but worth a try. Even if it does solve the problem, it cant be a permanent solutions can it?
Thanks guys.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Jun 24 2010, 09:47 AM) try replacing the power brick of the Xbox also sometimes unstable power supply causes such interference too Make sense- a while back my Wii was showing some weird static lines on the screen in 480p mode (480i is ok) - turned out it was the made in china 220V ciplak power brick giving problem, switch back to my original 110V brick (have to use stepdown which was the reason I got the ciplak 220v one) and everything ok. Now where can I loan a Jasper compatible power brick? the ones I have are the old pre-Jaspers .......

QUOTE(navigator @ Jun 24 2010, 04:51 PM) You can use the old brick on the Jasper without any problem. U sure? I'm not sure of the details (have to go back home and check) but I think the power rating between the Jasper and the pre-jasper ones are different. Is it safe to interchange? anyone tried it before? Thanks
