Yeah, I have been wondering about that as well. The RAM levels for the 3GS has dipped to around 26MB for me. Performance doesn't seem to suffer though and things are still going smooth. The apps looked like they are multitasking which is good enough too. Probably memory usage or measurement of free memory isn't the same with iOS4? I believe their memory management could similar to Android where it will close application with the least priority while keeping services going on.

Anyone tracks RAM levels over a period of time? I guess that iPhone 4 with 512MB is gonna come handy eh?

My 3G are below 10MB if i run with multitasking and home screen wallpaper on, and pretty slow, need to constantly kill the background program to maintain at 30MB+.
I try to kill some service later and and use sbsetting to free memory and and results 4X - 5XMB .
Obviously 3G's internal memory are not enough to handle multitasking.....

May I know where are the setting for multitasking and home screen wallpaper? I couldn't locate them under "Setting"
Or there is hidden key to activate them?  blush.gif

i dont have any problem with multitasking in my iphone 3g..
itry to test and run as many apps as i can and left below 10MB but still can run normally...lets say i left 8MB left and i open other app such as NBA Live, it still run smooth for me..the thing is i need to manually close the apps in multitasking bar to free up memory

and home screen wallpaper can make ur iphone 3g not being smooth..thats why i off it and back to smooth

when i run apps like godfinger, its super slow if the apps stay at background....but overall its still ok to me, just need to think twice before launch any app and check the multitask all the time..... biggrin.gif

Just be patience and wait for the iPhone 4

Finally I successfully upgraded my Hubby's iPhone last night after 10 attemps! Somehow the iPhone got currupted.. or I dunno la.. At least its now alive and kicking woot woot..

Just a short question (I dont see any post about it here and sorry if I've missed it), my iPhone is 3Gs and I already back up my iPhone... So, how do I upgrade?

Some says I need to back up and restore and then only upgrade and everything will back to the previous except of coz with iOS4. But yesterday when I restore my Hubby's everything is back to factory setting... I want all my contacts, sms and all to be in tack... So, anyone? Please clarify it for me.. Of coz to those who sucessfully upgrade it.. smile.gif

if you choose setup a new phone after the upgrade...and using the same iPhone name....in my case....its overwrite my previous backup....
