bro,u need to re-setting back the configuration..Setting > General > Network > Cellular Data Network..
and make sure Cellular Data is ON and Enable 3G.
I was facing the same problem with yours..
but after i reconfig, it was ok.
Battery life did improve alot (i feel it)
Speed from lock to unlock status until go in application, it was improve.
Updated to iOS4 take about 20~30mins, everything go smooth..
i believe some setting or config need to reenter.
3G is more stable compare with previous.
