QUOTE(benny888 @ Jul 24 2010, 11:02 PM)
The media really, really, really loves to write about Apple and the iPhone these days. It reminds me of Google in 2004, when the media fell in love with the concept of search.

Besides the antennae story, which I find hopelessly over reported, the latest iPhone rhapsody has been how many iPhone 4s Apple has sold - apparently, 3 million as of last Friday. Friday was July 16th. The iPhone 4 launched on June 24, so that'd be 23 days to reach the 3 million mark.

3 million phones in 23 days - that's a pretty strong clip, the fastest sales of an Apple phone to date, Mashable reports. If I do the math, that's more than 130,000 phones a day.

But did anyone in the press notice Google's little announcement, the day before Apple launched its iPhone 4? This one? The one where Google said, and I quote:

"Every day 160,000 Android-powered devices are activated -- that’s nearly two devices every second."
Yep, that'd be 30K MORE phones a day than Apple. And my guess is that Android's pace is accelerating, while the iPhone 4 is probably sliding downward, given how many folks bought it at launch (Mashable reports that 1.7 million were sold in first three days, so 1.3 million the next 20 days). In fact, if you do THAT math, and divide 1.3 million by 20 days, you get 65,000 iPhone 4s sold each day, which is nearly 100,000 less, PER DAY, than Android phones.

Is that story anywhere in the press? Not that I see.

As far as I can tell, Android-based phones will far outnumber any other smart phone by year's end. Apple, meet your new Windows. It's name is Android.

i feel apple is never a company who always want to compete in this number race, android might sell more phones but all of the OS in each and every phone is fragmented just like windows, so it cannot guarantee the universality of the iOS, and apple only has one iPhone 4 while there many vendor with different models running android, not a very fair of comparing? its like saying Nokia sells more phones then apple, but Nokia sells all types of phones, hundreds in the market at any given time.

If like taht kesian Nokia users la, they buy new phone now next month their model obsolete and a better phone comes out? How? you are comaplining about a company that makes one type of phone and only releases one model per year?

sounds like a good plan  icon_idea.gif

your standard warranty will expire in sept 2011, the acpp extends an extra year so it'll expire in sept 2012, not 2013.

Nokia sucks man.

Honestly I would like to think Nokia as savior but after my experience with Symbian Series 90 7710 ( How many even realised there's Symbian S90 anyway), Nokia can goto hell. The same thing is happening to Nokia N900. Nokia using it as test platform. 5800 is merely a 7710 being rotated 90degrees with addons for GPS, Accelerometer, Higher MP camera etc.
*
well to be really Honest the N91/N90 that first got me hooked on to smartphones then moved on to the O2 phones, but the iPhone is simply something else. Nokia's simple phone are still good tehy last long smile.gif

QUOTE(bimmer @ Jul 29 2010, 09:48 AM)
Hi guys,

In anticipation of the iPhone4, what do i need to do or prepare to move from my iPhone 3G to the new 4?

Basically i want to move all my apps, contacts, notes, emails, etc and totally erase all the data (except for what was original) in the old phone so i can sell it or give it away. The old iPhone 3G (running on OS 3.1.3) is not jailbroken and ori Maxis set, synced with the latest iTunes.

Any tips and hints are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
*
Backup Phone through itunes, and you havent already transfer purchases of your apps to itunes, thats just about it already.

its no point to inform when the Mods have strictly prohibited any form of discussion, ie you say "Hey there is a white albino elephant" = Informing, then the other forrumers will say, "Ha, White ALbino Elephant, how come got 1" another one will say "Oh really where can i see one?", see you have sparked a discussion from just informing only.

it is easy for you to say that because you are not the one cleaning up the mess.

in the end, who will be the one doing all the dirty work?

the moderators of course and not to mention other regular users who report them tirelessly
*
yep seconded, give both tinkerbel and bro davidgary a break, there are just so many characters who open up a new thread, ask the same questions back2back without doing a proper search and talk about JB and warez all the time.

QUOTE(Joey Christensen @ Aug 24 2010, 09:45 AM)
As what they have always say, beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves. I don't think you are at that level yet thou.

Your conscience of neutrality has been diluted by your very own self. It is not very wise of you bringing forth what was being intended in the Kopitiam section. As I said before, we talk business here and leave the pleasure of being a nincompoop in the Kopitiam section. Is that very hard to comprehend? If this were not being understood, there's no value of quoting me and personally attacking me with the quotes being taken from elsewhere deemed not worth a plugged nickel to be a source of reference.

Oh, by the way, I'm not writing all these in retaliation against you or in retrospective, I mercilessly pawned you with words. You sounded very much like Datuk Abdul Razak Musa, who are representing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest. Please save yourself some face and don't mix with what have been said in Kopitiam section and leave it as it is there. Sometimes being a smart arse will get yourself being burned. You could be burnt badly at times.

Here's another piece of information regarding the Apple's iPhone 4 "imperfection"

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

As quoted Apple's PR Library: Under the Press Release tab.

Regards, Joey

p.s: Is Apple being forthcoming with the issue in hand? I don't think so. More like damage control to me thou.
*
No offense Joey Christensen, your post this time around seems to be heavily induced in politics, we have a section called RWI for that, im sure you'd know that, lets keep the debates free from politics shall we.

If there is a crisis either self created or harped by the media, isnt the next best step in any organization -> Damage control, basic PR isnt it? The problem with this whole antenna issue can be associated with the powers of the american media that pretty much has a huge reaching power around the world. Even the littlest things can be blown out of proportion and harped to hilt. Just ask simple question once you read the news:

A: Does the problem affect all 3 million phones sold at launch day?

B: How many percentage of this is defective, either through mass production or errors thereof?

C: What has apple as a seller done to rectify or provide options to affected customers?

After answering this question, how do you think all this sensationalism will affect your purchase.

Just for the record most if not all cameraphones dont have such issues. I have used some many of them and this is my first. We pay a lot of money for it and dont tell me not to expect much. After all didn't Steve Jobs make IP4's camera one of it's major selling points?
*
people pay alot of money for protons too, but they are also told not to expect much, even people who buy Droids seem to have red tints during video and image capture, they too pay alot of money for their phones, even the old nokia N93 has this problem. Basically you cannot expect much from any point and shoot styled cameras, want total control over your image use post processing tools to adjust your white balance or get a DSLR that gives you ultimate control over image quality and a good calibrated display.

QUOTE(giovanni @ Aug 25 2010, 04:00 PM)
Now, you should not have compared Proton with Apple. It is like comparing Apple to a rotten orange. Not a very good analogy. You mentioned about people experiencing video discoloration using droid, how many of them out of all is experiencing this? For IP4, I have to say almost everyone is experiencing this white balance issue and some even worse, a total yellow tint for indoor photo capture. I owned so many other smartphones before N95, HTC HD and Samsung Omnia 2, I don't see such major WB issue in them at all. Everyone pays alot of money for this gizmo so please don't tell me not to expect much. If you care to read Apple Forum, you should know how many ppl are experiencing this problem. I expect to capture a picture and post it straightaway onto Facebook using my IP4 (not using a third party software to enhance my image only to post it again later). I only hope more people will feedback to Apple as suggested by the Apple technician and forumers in Apple support. I love this gadget and so I hope Apple will do something.  icon_question.gif
*
Before anything, lets see, did i compare apple with proton? I just said people spend 40-50K on a car but heck they cannot aspect BMW standard, its pretty much similar as saying you cannot aspect DSLR standard on a P&S camera, even DSLR also needs post-production to be perfect, ask any photographers out there how many of their shots in a photoshoot comes out crystal perfect without the need to go for post production or touch up? Look at the examples given at you, by now you would know white balance is an unavoidable issue even when it comes to video cameras, heck during a video shoot we have to hold a piece of white paper to calibrate the camera, theres only one thing in this world that does not need any white balance calibration, the human eye. You said almost everyone who owns an iPhone 4 has this issue, so out of 3 millions how many percentage including all those people at apple support that equates to at least 20%? any numerals to back up this allegation? heck even my DSLR at times need to be calibrated and set the kelvin, and honestly there wouldnt be any post production tool if cameras were perfect.

did i indicate that in any of my postings, again i have constantly said to you its a white balance issue which is available across the board either a full frame DSLR or a normal P&S, this could only be solved either by A: adjusting the kelvin on DSLR only, or of course the almost perfect solution is to use PS,Lightroom and Aperture, anything that tickles your fancy. Again look at the shots presented to you taken by a DSLR by deodarant.
