Not your fault, Masamune. In fact, I welcome any reports of problems on the iPhone 4. It's just the way these posts on reception issue makes is such like it's a life-and-death matter to them, when in actual fact, even those who suffers from these issues like you, aren't making a big fuss about it.

To me it's easy. If you're SOOOOO freaked out by these issues, then wait. Otherwise, buy them. Stop posting these issues like they're dealbreakers or deathknells for the iPhone 4. Some even posted under the guise of reporting it, but in actual fact, when you read between their lines, they're nothing more than being gleeful trolls, happy to blow minor issues out of proportions. I'm not saying that those who reported these issues are trolls, I'm saying that instead of just posting and full-stop, try be more useful with your time and post the reasoning behind it, and how you can possibly prevent it. You've spent that much time digging up that such illuminating info on the issue, be more useful and find the ways one can alleviate the problems altogether. Otherwise, your motives are more trollish in nature than anything else.

Haha.. Sorry to bring you up.
I'm kinda hope that we can discuss whatever thing related to iPhone, regardless the goods or the bads. So we all gain the benefits.
People might get scared to share their bad experience.  tongue.gif
That's what I think.

Anyway stringfellow, that "hot" was not meant directly to you. My apologies as well.
*
I agree with you I also feel that people with problem are getting afraid to post it up. I observe it by people apologizing just after posting about the antenna issue even though there is nothing worth to apologize about.

I think for now many malaysians are not on the "you go first la" attitude because the Iphone 4 has not even reached to our shores yet and the only way to get a hand on it is to go kilometers away (plus I think it is out of stock too) or buy it in malaysia for a high price which is not affordable. Once Maxis or Digi or Singapore launches it, I am sure many Malaysians will buy it and then discussions in this thread will become more open with more participants personal experiences.

The antenna issue comes up often (if 4 times is considered often) because people are curious in nature and like to get more reviews that may be brought forward by other current Iphone 4 users. Sadly in this thread there are only few people with an Iphone 4 (I think my 10 fingers can count all).

For those who wants to ask the antenna issue again, please read the first post for those reviews by the participants of these thread and just monitor the thread for new reviews to come in once Iphone 4 hits our shores or new owners turn up.

here,we just share and discuss..that's why we call it a forum..don't take it too deeply..it's just a phone anyway...the design is so damn good but yet so expensive for a person like me.
As i mention in my previous post, i just need a confirmation that someone living n currently in malaysia did the same test or replicate it like in the video..that's all..

And if the answer to that question of yours has already been posted by others and counter-confirmed by others in other related thread, BEFORE you asked for the confirmation, how is asking it again gonna change that? Does it mean that if another person after this suddenly ask the same question again, that Masamune's reception issue is suddenly gonna disappear, or my iPhone suddenly exhibit reception problems?

My advise? Read. There is a reason why people post. Not to socialise, not to post one-liner kopitiam-style post to "seronok2 saja", and personally for me, certainly not to get more post count or more visibility in the forum. If that is my intention, I'd be posting all over the place, and repeating the answer to that question every time someone else posted it. Frankly, I'm tired of repeating myself over and over again, and it's getting from "helping to correct misinformation" to "annoying".

Bottom line? Reception issue? Mine, Beavis, Yuvanesh, Harmeet, ksc_3688 and his sister's iPhone 4, exhibit zero issues. Among us covers all kinds of combinations, on Maxis and Celcom, with or without bumper, manually cut simcard or official Maxis microsim. One issue with Masamune with the reception issue. That is one our of 7, with other owners not participating in this discussion (syzwn, his brother, other owners not in Malaysia like chizzu) not even bother mentioning about reception issues because its either nonexistant, or trivial/minor. So, worse case scenario, 1 out of 7. That is 14% problem rate, and 86% zero issues. Take it what you will. I'm probably the more vocal kind of iPhone user who has zero problems with their units, most if not all the others who had their iPhone 4s working fine, are not bothered to post anything to counter the FUD about reception issue because their units are working as it should. My role in here is to correct any misinformation spread around by providing my own personal experience on my own iPhone 4. If that is not enough credentials to you to believe what I say, and still doubt and think I'm covering Apple's butt for some personal agenda, then I'm loss for words.

Okay then, I've a negative to post about the iPhone 4. It's hard to take care of, since both sides are glass. Probably not much, but hey, others are looking at me like I'm an Apple shill, for to their eyes, it looks like I'm posting only the good part of it. Honestly, if I have the supposed reception problems, I'll be the first and loudest to complain. But I freaking don't have such problem!

I certainly hope mine will not have any issue once I got it this or next week. I am waiting for Apple to contact me. Again...if there is any issue, just go back to get a refund or exchange for a new set. Easy as that! smile.gif

Just my two cents!

you want a confirmation and yet you are not helping yourself to read previous posts of actual field reports.

furthermore if you do consider this a public forum, the least that you can do is show some respect for others and put yourself in their shoes; how would you feel regurgitating the same answer over and over again?

thats what lots of people do here, they rather not go through the many pages in this thread and yet ask the same questions, the mods have cautioned/reminded these types of people to read the info on the first page, its a no brainer really, or just use the simple search function below it will display nay previous posts on this thread regarding the reception issue.

if u dun have time to go thru all the pages from this thread, just type "reception" on the below search panel provided. u will get to narrow down to 3 or 4pages.
i would say majority of the iphone 4 users here does NOT encounter the reception issue. That why we have the previous iphone 4 gathering to proved that no reception problem at all no matter how u grip it (ie. grip of death, cover all side grip, terbalik grip, and etc). there r 7unit of iphone 4 available to test at the gathering that we have just organised. all 7unit put on test for the grip of death, and yet not a single unit encounter this so call reception issue. and stated by string, in the test we did cover using from maxis original micro sim to DIY sim to several different telco sim and yet no reception problem encountered.

if you search thru the thread about reception, you can see that our forumner chizzu is reporting no problem on the reception, and yet he/she is using UK telco.
Still more prove....forumner kebeckham7 also reported no reception issue while using d iphone 4 in east coast.

so far out of 10user....9user reported "TADAK" reception problem even you perform "whatever grip of death" on it.

Hi again,

Forgot to mention that it has never been about the reception issue that I'm interested in. I'm fine with it.
It's not going to hold me from getting the iPhone and more for my family. The facetime is so cool... biggrin.gif . This is the feature that I've been waiting since I'm using iPhone 2G.
And there are more you can do and more to come. That's the great about iPhone.

Anyway guys, what's new with your iPhone. Haven't heard much, like the gyroscope.

Opss.. about your push notification, can't help you much. Not iPhone 4 owner, yet . nod.gif

even you dun need to wait till 2011 to use the video call over the 3G network, as promise by apple. right NOW u can use fring for video call over the 3G network.
u can use fring WIFI to WIFI, WIFI to 3G and vice versa. it no longer restricted to iphone 4 to iphone 4...... u can used it from iphone 4 to 3G[S], 3G, Nokia, SE and etc. as long as they support fring application. rclxms.gif

@iphoneiphone and prototype

my iPhone 3G after switching to iOS4 ... everything is just slower. Launching sms app sometimes takes 15-20seconds to load. And my internet tethering has died (option unavailable in settings), but I don't yet know if it's a maxis issue or iOS4 issue.

Yes on 3G iOS4 does not perform so well hopefully Apple will come out with a fix for this. What you can do in the meantime is try to do Hard Reset at least 2 times see the link below

Speed Up iPhone 3G (iOS4)

But you mentioned 15-20 seconds is a bit too long. Mine the most prob around 3-4 seconds.

Anyone having problem with FaceTime? Mine is stuck at "waiting for activation" in the settings screen.

Found similar complaints on other forums including Apple's own forum, but still no solution for me.

Anyone with iPhone 4 willing to test Facetime with me? PM me please.

doubtful. i don't think it's really a "fixable" issue, seems just to be the OS has too many features than the 3G can handle efficiently. Thing is random google'ing seems to tell me I can't downgrade back to 3.1.3 cos iTunes doesn't sign older firmware liao, so looks like I just gotta suck up the lagginess sad.gif
