what type of speedometer does LC have?
is it the mechanical type, or the electrical type?

mechanical type is using spring+magnet mechanism to measure front wheel speed. Adjustment is mechanical, can be done using minor adjustment a bit at a time.
electrical one may have a VR on the circuit board to make the adjustment.

If any of you trust me enough, feel free to lend me your meter to have a look.

FYI, I service my own bikes, serviced the meters since my bikes are old, fixed RPM meters, fix my own phones, solder stuff as a hobby etc etc... hope this helps.

CDI & Ignition coil & spark plug (mainly the gapping) needs to match properly. I dunno how, mostly just plug and play.

But I imagine it like CD player (source), amplifier and speaker, CDI being the source, ignition coil being the amp, and plug being the speaker.

If the resistance & impedance not matching, something will blow along the way.

we all ride slow... once a while 'test' with Wira etc...

Oh.. I see... they still suggest me don't mod your engine part.. never.. if really want your bike long life..(even FZ's block pun same)
even pipe pun same... =.=" really confused..  rclxub.gif

that's right. this is one of the reasons I chose the bikes I have. They are satisfying at stock level... Imagine, for stock bikes, need a CBR or FXR150 only can out perform my RGV. Sometimes I see ZZR250 also I will go 'tiong'.

My TZM is 1994, RGV 2004 I think... it won't be surprising if they stay with me for another more than 10 years.

For convoy, if worry bike got emergency, better do short distance test ride... go to Alor Star, Taiping etc... >100km straight and see how goes.

I'll prepare tyre patch, and chain lube if distance >500km.
I've taken RGV from Penang Seremban, and TZM Penang-Singapore... Penang-KL/Ipoh/Taiping/Lumut/Sg Petani/Alor Setar many other times...

stock is good.. I mean you don't have to worry about extra maintenance. And I mean you bought it coz it's designed n created like this.. After mod, it's not that anymore. It's already a diff bike..

I prefer that also, if i want a fast bike hehe.. NInja 150rr will do lo.
*
I believe the gearbox for LC is a bit overdesigned. Modding to big bore kits should be no problem.

I dunno how to test the ignition system whether they are compatible or not, so I have no comment to share.
That's why I ask for LC stock ignition coil photo.

I'd say, change CDI - ok, change plug - ok, but ignition coil a bit tricky... one of the things I can think of, check your plug BEFORE & AFTER using the ignition coil for 20-50km. If possible, take measurements of the gapping also, and take photo of the plug tip color also.

Sorry if I scare you all who just bought the UMA ignition coils.... but this is my advise for peace of mind.
It's just I don't know a lot about it, and this is what I think. smile.gif

Some reasons not to mod bike:
- Kampung style... I kena a lot mechanic like this, good material also wasted. Parts cannot fit, cut here cut there. Wiring diagram dunno how to read, shorted and burn something also dunno...
- 2-stroke bike modded will push over design limit. Imagine 6-gear 2 stroke, from stock redline 8.5k RPM modded to 12k++ RPM. 2-stroke mods are 'destructive'. Exhaust porting is done at centimeter magnitude, and cannot be reversed. Powerband shift to very high RPM, very hard to ride. Lighten piston means 'cutting' the piston to very short, using just one instead of 2 piston rings etc etc... any means to make the bike faster...

I was told FXR150 not reliable... so naturally I'd think the same if Belang use same design. worse, if Belang use local parts, as during old times, bike company fully import parts, like EX5 especially famous for it's reliability.

FXR should be very reliable ma ? though I'm not sure where the parts come.. coz Belang is manufactured in thai too ?

I want dim sum.. i love dim sum but I'm super fat.. >.<
if really wan go convoi ipoh can ah.. but must got proper planning lo. Btw the uphill road to ipoh is famous for super dangerous right ?
*
Highway riding is different from town riding... eyes need to look forward, instead of all over looking out for cars coming from the sides.
NS highway got new tar area is slippery when wet, because use fine grain to tar the road. This one just careful when wet.
Ride in a line, of if many ppl, just take up the whole lane, just don't block the road alang-alang.

Other than that, it's ok.

If the price include installation, same price as Tokico I installed last year. Should consider cheap loh since tire price naik already...

eh alex.. ur rgv right.. the exhaust got makan away ar..? i mean the manifold part there.. cause ur bike quite old d right... my fren wan rgv.. his exhaust karat until thin d his exhaust.. and always patah at his manifold.. have to take go welding... he says once a month or 2 months.. patah.. now he garu head d.. taht time he go BH wan see if he can do only manifold not..but BH place cannot do..and apek said only way is to buy new exhaust.. a shop located near GAMA... dunno 8 something the shop name..
*
Didn't notice this the last time.
My exhaust so far so good. I spray high temp paint over the pipe.
RGV exhaust manifold very hot, need to jaga... the high temp paint I buy first time is Anchor, and it turn white after kena exhaust heat.
Now I use the real one, up to 600C. We shall see how.

For his case, since already rusted, welding also will break. I suggest go Tokico buy, he got lots 2stroke exhaust. Can try Tokico BM also.

Added on August 3, 2010, 5:22 pmAnd did you ask your friend about the front fork "TOK" sound? Is it when going down from the bump that the sound come? I get that too, but not since I put in the thicker fork oil at NBH...

btw.. i got a final question to ask.. wat is the fuss about the stromberg thingy..? i mean power booster... or spark booster that itsuki is talking about..? i need stable and accurate answer.. =) good opinions are always appreciated... =)
*
Stromberg, from what I read at their website, is something that changes the spark, from one time to many many times within a short time.
So, instead of 'piak' one spark, it'll make it like 'bzzzt' many times firing.

@Charge: Maybe can explain how the firestorm work? Or maybe what are the connection to that thing?

This one looks cheap, an Index Modular Flip-up at RM270.
But, I think this is Thailand stock, no SIRIM one... JPJ kacau later. My friends just went, and get nice helmets there at veli cheap, since Index is Thai brand.

Zelk, u might want to visit racing mate, they got sell SOL helmet.. I got mine there but I think their price a bit exp.. i might be wrong

regarding stormberg or power booster side effect la which I heard from some mechanics, the life span of the spark plug might be cut short.. that's all. Other than that duno liao
*
That place sell to big bike one... so exp a bit lah.
Stromberg will theoratically weaken the spark since it make it spark multiple times.
Power booster will reduce plug life, so mah use G-Power or Iridium loh.

QUOTE(Itsuki_Kun @ Aug 3 2010, 11:06 PM)
1 pair of IRC tayar.. fron 70/80 rear 90/80... how much ar...? ~.~""
*
About RM80 each.
Get Farrelli lah, buatan malaysia and pancit boleh jalan. smile.gif

IRC is actually made by FKR (Fung Keong Rubber), using the Japan brand. Buatan Malaysia, I think.

ACME is taiwan brand, used to call Unilli, used to have some racing tyres around. NBH tried to sell me one Unilli last time, but date code too old.

Duro makes tayar bunga exactly like Brijston BT39SS, so very popular. Many complain wet grip not good. If you want, look for Taiwan one, supposedly better than Thailand ones. They differ in wrapping color, one silver and the other gold.

Maxxis, Michelin, Dunlop, Brijston are own brand...
Less famous brand like Kenda, Camel, Swallow etc etc...

Added on August 3, 2010, 11:17 pmSOL should have SIRIM, since it's sold in shops.
