Palringo works well. Its not new been around for quite sometime.
Never tried Nimbuzz or Beejive before so no comment.
And no there will be no WM7 update for HD2. WM7 will be new with minimal apps as the current apps will not be supported. Its better to jump over to android and see how it goes from there.

Yes, you need to install hotfixes again. Better solution is to install latest ROM therefore need not install hotfixes.

There is no harm installing the hotfixes ; if it is already in  your rom, it'll just overwrite it. It takes up space though.

I have been using the HD2 since Dec 2009 , I have never install any of the hotfixes as I do not see the need. My HD2 was Ok with no issues on SMS etc. When cook roms were available, I drop it and upgraded to the cooked roms

Hotfixes are meant for specific ROMs only, ie to rectify minor problem or to improve performance of those ROMs. In general if the hotfix issue date is dated after the ROM issue date, then it is good to apply the hotfix, provided the hotfix is meant for that ROM.

It took Microsoft a long time to get WM6.5 sorted out. When it first came out WM6.5 had many problems. We can expect WM7 to be the same. By the time WM7 problems are resolved, it would be time to get a new phone, 2GHz processor

Totally agree. WM7 is not open source and unless microsoft give their consent like WM6.5 and below, XDA cannot release any WM7 rom.

But apart from being a new OS, I don't find anything interesting about WM7 anyway. In fact for me its a step backward as some of the features I use in WM6.5 is not available in WM7.

What make you say HD2 can't play video? With the correct player it will play all mobile formats.

I think slaymaster was referring to the video on facebook which WM cannot play as our browser don't support the latest flash (or rather the other way around) and we don't have any good facebook app.

off topic:

can we buy that form any spec outlet? i always wonder where i can buy it. previously i just got used one from family and friends. some are good, some will leave stain. i want the good one where it will collect everything from the lens and when i wash it under water it will get rid everything from the cloth.

i also use facial blotter, but now its getting expensive, more than RM5 per pack.
