That is true. Fortunately, as borked as the matchmaking is, I think new players still have it pretty good. They get matched to their own tiers most of the time. It when you get to Tier III/IV tanks the nightmare starts,

There's a few tiers I personally saw.
Tier I-II
Tier II-III
Tier III-IV
Tier II-V
Tier III-VI
Tier IV-VII

Just research all the research modules in your chosen tank. It'll complete.

Not quite. KVs are pretty squishy. Get any 57mm/75mm/76mm/(<insert German guns> gun and you can penetrate KVs even from the front.

KV 220s... are another matter. Only the damn turret is penetrable, and from the sides or back.

That means he's part of a platoon, the real reason why he was put into the match.

Matchmaking takes into the account only the highest tiered tank in your platoon. Which means the Hetzer was the one who dragged his mate into this match. (Tank Destroyers and SPGs are rated higher than equivalent tanks.)

Probably would pick up when Clan Wars is introduced and account transfer is enabled.

Best advice I can give you is know your place. If you're a light or medium tank, steer clear away from KVs. Let the other big boys do their stuff. You can either follow up behind, providing fire support, or scout for your heavy tanks/SPG/TDs.

I'd agree matchmaking is sometimes unfair, but eh, sometimes you find yourself at the top as well.

Yeah. The RM:gold ratio is quite sucky compared to using Paypal/CC directly. Just keep that in mind. It might be worth it to get someone to buy it for you instead.
