I see there are new media players that are using Realtek RTD1195 chipset (latest). Among them are Eweat EW902 and M-195. I would be interested if you start selling players that use this chipset as the 1186 is getting old.

Does the H8 OctaCore support Atmos in passthrough mode? This is very important to me

I have Q5III and still atmos is not supported. I am using fw 1.0.7. Can anyone else confirm if Q5 quad support atmos in passthrough mode. Thanks

Edit: I have read in another forum that atmos passthrough is supported. Will test again tonight and let you all know . FYI, I don't have atmos avr but I expect the avr to show TrueHD. If it shows, I will be most happy

Hi ccs221, I seem to have problems downloading the english version fw for Q5 Quad core 1.0.8 and 1.0.9. I am having difficulties getting fws from the pan.baidu site. Any other links? I read that at least v 1.0.8, dolby atmos is supported. Thanks

Confirmed Atmos supported on HiMedia Q5 Quad Core. I managed to update to fw 1.0.8. WOW astounding!!

You mean "HDMI" don't you? LPCM down mixes the audio to stereo which is proper for tv. For AVR/Home Theater, I think should set to HDMI, to get full 5.1/7.1 surround sound. Of course you can still hear using LPCM but it would defeat the purpose of getting that "theater" feel

Yes, thank you Awen. Looks like the audio part is on par with Hisilicon ie HD audio are passthrough with 7.1 on the stock player and only 5.1 when using Kodi. I'm not using Kodi so that's ok. However the site only talks about H8 and no comparison whatsoever with Q5, Q10 or Q16 so on the PQ part, I'll have to go for HiSilcon based chipset because at least it has an image processing engine (called ExpressX)

Currently I'm using Q5 Quad nearly a year now (could be more) and so far I'm happy with it. Make sure you run a usb fan underneath it. It could get hot quickly without the fan. Also make sure the fw is latest (I'm sure seller will do this for you). For Atmos support, must be at least version 1.0.8. The Q Quad series is using HiSilicon 3798C/M chipset and the support from the vendor in fixing fw has been respectable. Even Cloudmedia (formerly Popcorn Hour) is using 3798M chipset in one of its current product, namely OpenHour Gecko. Happy Hunting for a new media player.

Any newer fw for the mango chinese fw, that has the file naming "update_qualcore..." ?

A first look. Only played 1 atmos file. Bitstream works. My AVR not being an atmos, showed TrueHD. Hey, happy camper here. Upgraded from fw 1.0.8 and noticed improvement in general look and feel (UI better imo). PQ slightly better. Need more viewing to really compare. One thing I noticed missing is the ExpressX configuration. Sorry for not exploring further but the kids are watching astro

I'm so happy with my Q5 that I'm planning to buy another one. Most probably will go to Digital Mall Section 14. My 1st Q5 was Chinese version so my question is, what is the version in Digital Mall now, chinese or english?

Does the M6 IPTV use the Himedia Quad core chipset, like what the Q5 quad is using? Don't have that information on the first page.
