GG or steam can put pressure on 1C for the patch wad. Since they are the only one can reach 1C directly.

Gamersgate is owned by Paradox Interactive which has really good ties with 1C (Seeing as they're both east European publishers). That's probably why GG has better service with this game (Which we'll probably see with The Witcher 2 as well).

It's not GG's fault. MoW has so many third party companies dealing with it. Aspyr, DMS, Best way, 505 games, 1C and many different versions. Different companies do patches for different version. It took nearly half a year(or maybe more) for them to update the steam version. WHose fault? I dont know...DMS claims its miscommunication. As for GG pressuring them, lets just say that the Steam version is probably the one with the most user base for MoW since Steam had this game on sale very very early. User base grown quite big. And even with that you get miscommunication.

From my experience, if you want to buy multiplayer games, its better to buy from the ones your friends bought from. To avoid slow patching process etc. Even if the game uses gamespy or whatever often times patches are not rolled out at the same time across the board.

Found something to share with you guys. I'm sure that most, if not all of us, are Steam users too. Once in a while, we do encounter the issue of Steam running out of game keys especially when it involves smoking hot games that were thrown into the offer bins. No matter what kind of issues we had with Steam (buggy games *cough cough* MTG: DotP *cough cough*), refund is near impossible (I was about to write impossible as I've never read about successful refund in the Steam forum but in case you guys seen 1 before hence the inclusion of near). Wanna see how easy it is with GG?

This might set a bad precedent but I find GG to be much more user friendly, at least they apply a certain degree of human touch when dealing with their customers & that's what I like about GG. rclxm9.gif

The guy was a bit of a d*** though, but yar, it was good form from GG to accept the refund.

In Steam I have seen refund done "quite" easily for pre-order, seems you can cancel a pre-order and get a full refund quite easily for this.
Otherwise yar, Steam non-refund policy is quite strict.

Thing is, that was on facebook or twitter right? I am not so fond of having facebook being the main contact point for GG really, I am in China, I have to use my office network to access facebook, does that mean I am not entitled for quick customer service?
From echoes I got getting a quick reply from GG NOT from facebook is much harder. The "tutor" system does not cut it in my opinion, I am an advanced user enough to not bother customer support for the kind of questions the tutor system answers.

I totally agree it's not GG's fault that China is blocking facebook access but point is they should not, in my opinion, use a 3rd party service like facebook/twitter or whatever as the main point to get quick customer support, it's not it's purpose, it's not safe and it's not private enough.

It's on Twitter. I think it's inevitable that they have to embrace these new social media platforms such as Facebook & Twitter since you'll lose out a lot if you don't jump onto the bandwagon. biggrin.gif

I believe they have a certain employees assigned to their Twitter & Facebook since most of the replies were coming from Angie herself. My experience dealing with their Customer Support is pretty OK, almost comparable to Steam with the response time of 24 hours. IMHO, the Game Tutor is actually a great platform to have gamers help gamers & at the same time, you get to earn blue points if you manage to help resolve the issue!

Anyway, I think I'm starting to deviate to the point of bashing Steam if I go any further. biggrin.gif I still love both platforms but GG has been impressing me greatly since the day I started using them. cool.gif

Well, we will have to agree on disagreeing then since I personally do not think it's a good thing to be able to get faster replies from something like Twitter than by using their normal customer support system on their own website, that's just not how it should be in a proper corporate system.

I agree it's a good thing they are present on facebook and twitter, but when the difference in getting a reply is between few minutes on Twitter and 2 days through their customer system, I feel they are not putting the priorities where they should.

I like GG so far and I am touching wood I didnt have to contact their customer system yet so I am just being my usual "I like to complain"-self

that guy is not a good customer. sweat.gif

regarding refunds on steam, it is only possible for pre orders. and have good reasons.

for example, i pre purchased APB all point bulletin for someone.

then he realized cannot play on the server, ip lock, etc.

i sent support ticket to steam asking for refund.

they return the money back to my credit card.

The thing is, while the customer was a bit of a jackass, I kinda understand why GG had to "succumb" to it like that.

Steam is the defacto DD service... No doubt about it. Stardock & D2D may beg to differ but I seriously think they have close to 50% of the online DD market share. That being said, Steam is far more "corporate" than the other DD services in terms of how they treat their customers (Perfectly acceptable since their userbase is so huge).

Basically, every other service has to be what Steam isn't (Because they sure as hell aren't going to "replace" Steam) and since that asshat customer was hellbent on hating GG because of this CD-key delay (Which Steam also periodically has), the customer support dude had no choice BUT to acquiesce to the fellas demands. At the very least, even though they lost a customer, that guy will at least extol the ability to claim refunds on games you're not happy with (Which Steam doesn't really allow).

Funny how this "refund" issue pops up so soon after the whole Elemental/Stardock debacle yesterday (Where a few ppl were claiming refunds on an "unfinished" game)

Yar, I can totally see GG thinking this too, which in a way is pretty smart business practice.

Thing with steam is that they have so far enforced the "no refund" rules quite tightly (again, except for pre-order which i think is fine really, you havent used the key or product yet).
But if they ever did give refund after release for some reason, it's the open door to have their policy totally gone since people will just go the "but for XXX game in YYY situation they got a refund so I want one now too"
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

But that guy really was like trying to make GG says "sorry, we can't do that" and kept trying to find new excuses to complain and ask for more until he got his refund and couldnt find a reason to complain anymore...

Bounce! just got released not too long ago. Gameplay is almost similar to Portal, in the sense that you've to accomplish missions to advance further. It's an indie game, so don't expect too much.
