Hey guys i just learn how to oc my cpu and i wanted to give it a try on ram.... what is the difference between them?
Especially the timing thing and the ratio of FSB ... can some1 explain to me so i know how i start and software to check the performance increase ?
I saw some1 post the pic b4 but i do not know what is it....
Perharps some article... I found a great one but it had been delete while i am delete...

What your hardware specification first?
Then go search for particular thread that are existed in OCU.

Why u wanna OC your ram only? OC your CPU by bringing up the FSB will also OC your ram together is u have a 1:1 divider~

i need faster memory seriously... that is why i wanna oc it... for the 1:1 divider i dont really understand how to do it and i is why i post this thread

fsb:dram ratio is something like multiplier. it works like this:

base clock x dram multiplier = dram clock

let say in this setting:
cpu in stock setting = 2.4GHz, 266MHz base clock,
fsb:dram = 1:1 = 1/1 = 1
base clock x dram multiplier = dram clock
266 x 1 = 266MHz
for this setting, your dram clock is 266MHz.

let say another setting:
cpu in stock setting = 2.4GHz, 266MHz base clock,
fsb:dram = 2:3 = 3/2 = 1.5
base clock x dram multiplier = dram clock
266 x 1.5 = 400MHz
for this setting, your dram clock is 400MHz

let say another setting:
cpu in overclocking setting = 3.0GHz, 333MHz base clock,
fsb:dram = 1:1 = 1/1 = 1
base clock x dram multiplier = dram clock
333 x 1 = 333MHz
for this setting, your dram clock is 333MHz

my OC setting is 3.01GHZ with 333MHz base clock
fsb:dram show in CPUZ is 5:6 6/5=1.2

so my dram clock is 333x1.2=400MHz ....


so i need to try make it 1:1 ? or any guide ?

its ok, just let your ram run at 400MHz, since your ram is DDR2 800.

Perhaps change to 64bit and install more ram is a better idea ? 4GB is not enough for me ....
1 more question is different brand RAM install together will cause conflict right ?

what application you are using? 4gb ram still not enough?

how much is your ram usage?

32bit normally they will reserve some memory so you won't get to use all of it

i am a heavy online game player... i open about 4 online game together it use up to 3G ram

i see., i think in this case you may consider change to 64bit windows, but make sure those online game support 64bit windows, if not you cannot play also.
i think overclock ram didn't help much in this problem, because even you can overclock your ram to DDR2 1200, but it also eat up to 3gb ram when you load all your online game. just the bandwidth will be wider and the data rate will be faster only.

I managed to isolate the BCLK, multiplier and Vcore. So now I'm heading towards the RAM section.

Current progress

BCLK = 200MHz
CPU multiplier = 19
Turbo Boost disabled
EIST disabled
C1E disabled
DRAM timings = AUTO (9-9-9-24)
DRAM ratio = 4
QPI ratio = Auto
Load Line Calibration disabled
CPU voltage = 1.376V
DRAM voltage = 1.565V ----------------------> FAILS IBT
CPU VTT = 1.25V --------------------------------> FAILS IBT
CPU PLL voltage = Auto
PCH voltage = AUTO (1.05V)

So now I'm stuck at isolating the above pointed out bold...do you have any method to quickly isolate these? Currently I'm slowly increasing the DRAM Voltage 1 step at a time...

Any clues?
