Just flashed to Gingerbread custom ROM - Miui-4/22 Full Miui ROM.
My review : The MIUI interface sucks (like Iphone), sorry but when I use Android, I want it to be like an Android, not some clonewars. I like the screen off animation, cool. GUI lags to the max! Overclocked it to 1Ghz and still lags!!! Memory is super, I got 150MB free on first boot. OK, enough of Gingerbread, flashing to another ROM.

sinach,
Yea I know why must I stuck at Froyo (or Eclair even!). I've just tested several ROMs yesterday night, including CM7 Gingerbread, but all of it lags, even when I OC to 1Ghz.

What I want is a snappy phone, a real phone which doesn't tell me to 'Wait master, I need to do something here...', but a phone which goes 'Master, it is done'. All the features of Gingerbread is NICE to have, but is not NECESSARY to me - including Flash and the nice turn off screen animation (but it's super cool laugh.gif).

under18,
Yeah I know but even using LauncherPro lags. I just can't take it.

I've flashed Telus 5.2 Eclair and felt really good. ROM is just super fast and snappy. All of my required apps and games works, so I'll be stickin with Telus for a while thumbup.gif I didn't even have to change launcher because it's so freakin fast!

imranzero, that's the way it is. Android automates things, when you have too much of free memory, some app will auto launch.

Task killer is not what you need. You need Autokiller Memory Optimizer. It actually set your core Android settings - I malas nak explain sini, go download install and set it up first. You will get more free RAM afterwards.

So how's CM6?

hm I don't know about that.. Milestone comes with a proximity sensor, so during a call and if you place the phone near to your face, it will auto off the screen.

This didn't happen on your case?

There is a manual workaround - get "myLock phone tools" which locks the touchscreen once a call is placed after the phone screen goes blank. You have to push the camera key to activate the touchscreen again.

But I would highly recommend that you ask the dev or the forum which you got the ROM from (XDA I presume?). Maybe they have a fix which you didn't apply after flashing the ROM.

wow pcphobic, are you one of the dev at xda? You sound like one (and you even PM me those steps and all about Cronos..) sweat.gif I am sort of speechless..

Anyway, the ROM looks fast, but I'm not in a mood to flash anything else to my phone as of yet. Maybe when I feel that Gingerbread have something that I really need, I will surely have a look at Cronos first laugh.gif

Havin a great time with FroyoMOD v2.8.0. In my personal experience this is the fastest Froyo ROM out there for Milestone thumbup.gif

For Eclair fans, get Telus 5.2, fastest Eclair ROM for Milestone thumbup.gif

Both can run Samurai Vengence above without any issues (I feel the Eclair is faster.. hm but that's just me).

@V12Kompressor, do you have recovery installed on your device? Why don't you just flash a .zip format ROM via recovery?

Btw, you are flashing to which ROM?

@V12Kompressor
actually I had the SAME issue before!! And was wasting my 3-4 hours time scratching my head, downloading different versions of RDS and stuffs.. which doesn't work.

Until I go to another computer which run Windows XP and it completed like in yeah you could say 15 minutes or so.. laugh.gif

Well, you know what you need to do now.. Nandroid backup! And do another backup of your MicroSD card of the backup just in case biggrin.gif

Why don't you try Froyomod? It's the fastest 2.2 ROM out there (from my POV), Telus 5.2 is the fastest 2.1 for me.. and I'm still sticking with Telus because of the insane speed and excellent memory management.

Combine this with Chainfire 3D and you will forget that you even hold a Milestone! laugh.gif

@Charger67

wow.. that shows how much love you have with the Milestone bro. laugh.gif

I admit it's a pretty good damn smartphone. The only thing I hate about motorola is it heats up pretty damn hot too when you bash and use it to the max. I can't even touch the phone if it's hot. Compared to HTC's, they're much cooler (like 10 degrees difference I may say).

I'm using a HD2 right now, although the screen is big, but typing on Milestone feels much better and accurate.

"Milestone looks tough and and very solid, and feels indestructible" shocking.gif shakehead.gif

It only looks tough, but I often feel it's very fragile in my hands (although my hands are small) sweat.gif

AGREED..... all thanks to kabaldan The Great... hehehe rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
currently im using cm7 with its latest release, rc12, now got touch-to-focus camera function, dsi fixed (so far no FC no random reboot rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif ), 5 point multi touch (great for gaming)....
this makes my milo turns into a new device again.... definitely can compare to stock galaxy s (quoted as the best 3rd gen smartphone)
*
Wow.. first time hearing the milestone being called a 'milo' laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif hahahahaha...
But yeah, once you got the right custom ROM, the right OC vsel and stuffs.. try benchmark the phone and you'll get higher mark than stock Galaxy S thumbup.gif

QUOTE(nightzstar @ Jul 17 2011, 12:49 AM)
my motorola still in workshop, asked them fixed power button but fixed my touch screen pulak. I paid them rm270 for the thing i didn't ask for repair. I won't pay anymore after my milestone is back from second round from service centres. Gosh pda gadget really sucks.
*
hey, have you been ripped off man.. if you got some proof that you only sent your device to just repair the power button - BUT they ripped you off by unnecessarily replacing the touch screen, I suggest you report this to the Consumer Tribunal. In so many cases, you will win bro.

*
Really? I didn't hang around much then to know it.. shakehead.gif
Nah, can't try anymore.. I've sold my 'milo' few days ago.. it was collecting dust at home, lucky someone adopted it before it went rust laugh.gif

I tried a lot of ROMs before, but still end up sticking with Telus v5.2 or something.. that was the fastest although it only run Eclair, the pros weights more than the cons.

Have you tried em?
