feeling brave yesterday, i flashed my milestone to froyo.

first i used MotoFrenzy version and i ended up having a deaf phone.

then i tried the Cyanogen (cronos) version and my god. i didn't knew the milestone is this good. though it's just a beta ROM but its hell lot faster than the stock eclair.

There are downside with this ROM however, the Wifi tethering is not working yet, and GPS satellite takes minutes to lock.

other than that, the rest is awesome.

try the bastardize 2.2 cm6 (original one) everything is working great. no more issue with it. heck. i dun even have reboot.
*
I just tried the original CM6 and it doesn't even have the tethering menu, cronos version somehow still feels snappier so I did some bechmark and here's the result.

Original CM6 0.02 @ 900MHz
Linpack : 12.939 MFLOPS
Quadrant : 681

Orginal CM6 0.02 @ 1Ghz
Linpack : 13.771 MFLOPS
Quadrant : 712

Cronos CM6 1.2.1 @ 700 MHz
Linpack : 10.035 MFLOPS
Quadrant : 1061

Cronos CM6 1.2.1 @ 1GHz
Linpack : 12.939 MFLOPS
Quadrant : 1318

All test done in freshly wiped condition. the Cronos CM6 was supposed to be 900MHz but didn't know why it keep downclock to 700MHz
I can say from the test result, the cronos version has poorer processor performance but the graphic driver seems to be much powerful and hence the higher Quadrant result (almost double)

Cronos just released 1.3.0
I'm downloading now and gonna test later
From the release note there's no major improvement so i'm not expecting performance boost. I just want the wifi tether. arghhh.

was the one u try is the frenzy 0.52?

the one cm6 is 0.02-10.10.11
from http://android.doshaska.net/cm6

but than maybe u're right. the cronos was said to be snapier.

Added on October 14, 2010, 10:32 pmbtw. cm6 0.02-10.10.11
dose come with use tether.

wifi tether is not available even the official release. this was said because of the wifi chip unable to support it.
maybe i read wrongly.  tongue.gif
*
sorry, my mistake, its 0.02 not 0.52
frenzy 0.52 is the one mute and deaf i tried yesterday

milestone supposed to be capable of wifi tether. its verizon who's crapping the droid user.
currently my best froyo option is to use cronos CM6 and install the wifi tether using external APK

it is much much better than any existing rom available. u get almost all the feature froyo give. except the optimization.  tongue.gif
*
afaik, i tried all the available froyos ROM in XDA during the last two days to find out the best custom froyo out there, and my conclusion that the best is CM6 Cronos version 1.2.1
the rest of the ROM have this or that little problem that i'm not satisfied.

hey guys, any idea where we can find step by step guide on how to flash kronos or CM roms to our milestone?
*
files needed :
1) vulnerable recovery SBF
2) Open recovery folders and update.zip
3) your choice of ROM files in .zip or .sbf
4) RSD Lite 4.6
5) Motorola USB driver

1) copy the open recovery update.zip and folder into the root of your SD card (can be done by just connecting USB cable and use memory card access option on ur milestone)
2) copy the custom rom files into update folder in your open recovery folder on the SD card
3) install and open RSD Lite
4) install motorola USB driver (skip this if you already did before)
4) boot ur phone into bootloader (press up key (D-pad) + Power)
5) connect to USB
6) open RSD Lite (u should be able to see your phone listed)
7) load vulnerable recovery SBF, select your phone and start flashing. (your phone will reboot into android once this is done, you can now unplug USB)
8) reboot your phone in recovery mode (press X and power. if X doesn't work, try camera button + power), you should be able to see an exclamation mark which means u have booted into recovery
9) press camera button + volume up (you will see the menu now)
10) select update.zip (you will boot into open recovery)
11) select wipe all data/factory reset
12) go to apply update and select the custom rom files (you will start flashing the custom ROM now)
13) go to top menu and select wipe all data/factor reset again
14) select reboot (you will automatically reboot into recovery again)
15) select reboot once more
16) voila, you're now with new ROM.

all the files mentioned above can be downloaded from XDA forums. i don't have time time to list out all the link but a lil homework should get you to those files without breaking a sweat.

Added on October 18, 2010, 10:46 amShit,I think i just bricked my phone..... it keeps rebooting... im stuck on the motorola logo, some1 help pls!!!!!!

Added on October 18, 2010, 10:52 ami went on to wipe cache, and tried full reformat for the phone, probmlem not solved. man, how bad can my luck be just to try out apps2sd..
*
you need to wipe before and after flash.
it happened to me too.
i wiped everything including the cache, then flash, then wipe again, and it will be ok.

the reboot things happens because u did not wipe before and after flash.

another question, if already flashed to GOT 2.2.1, and next time when the official Froyo released by Moto, and I would like to flash to the official one, will it erased all the existing apps and data again in my phone? just like flashing from 2.1 to GOT 2.2.1
*
whistling.gif yes
but i'm thinking whether nandroid can avoid this or not blink.gif

Hi guys, another Milestone user here.I looked back the old pages and find out someone had the problem Im having now-The callibration problem when charging.
I just bought this phone last week, warranty by PDA gadgets and today when I charge my phone,I cant use the phone properly, seems like the callibration go wrong.Once I unplug the charger,it returns to normal.I tried plugging the charger but without the switch on,it works as usual but once switch on the power, problem comes again. So is that means that I cant use the phone when Im charging it?
*
This is due to ur wall plug not properly grounded. if u touch the metal frame on your phone you can feel tiny tiny electrical shock. and the screen is affected by the charge because it is capacitive.

try using other wall outlet that is properly grounded or a 3 pin USB charger
