sifus~ want to ask, hdmi-dvi = hdmi-hdmi in terms of quality? or almost the same?

i have a dvi lcd with no build in speaker, so if i get myself a hdmi-dvi cable, i cannot get sound.
if i use my composite cable to tap for the av audio, it will block the hdmi output.

One sifu told me that the only way is mod the av by opening the casing. besides this any other options?
help!

Dude, first thing, does your LCD monitor supports HDCP even though it has DVI port? If not, no point to buy the HDMI-DVI cable. laugh.gif

Don't worry about audio, you can use the AV connector to channel your sound (red/white cable).

The 360 need not HDCP to begin with, so there shouldn't be any problem. And vv001, seems like opening the casing is your only option if you are not planning to get another cable/adapter for audio. I used to use a third party cable which doesn't block the HDMI socket for audio.

It's a third party VGA cable, bought it from play-asia many years ago, work like charm. It's out of stock now though, and I've no idea where I put mine.

oh, if this is the case, i will be getting VGA quality and not DVI as DVI is just the bridging for the VGA to connect to the LCD. correct me if i am wrong.

I pried open the xbox AV connector and wrap it with tape as improvised solution to let both HDMI and AV connector stay together... it works nod.gif

just for ur info...
hdmi-dvi is the same as hdmi-hdmi.
there's no signal conversion or whatsoever.it's just connector is different.everything is pure.the only thing is dvi is for video only while hdmi capable of transmitting audio and video.

too bad they still retain the same port placements in Xbox Slim..

TS u can use VGA AV out cable, there's minimal differences between analog and digital signal for Xbox 360, so just use VGA for video..

Yup just pry open your AV cable to fit. That'll give you access to the audio.
