I heard from a sales rep in Penang Queensbaymall that Unifi will be available in the whole Penang state by end of the year, anyone can confirm that?

I just don't believe what he said looking at how slow Unifi spread.
*

Mine still dont have sad.gif.

1 Question, if a condo is already covered by Time.net for fibre optic service, does this mean that unifi will not be available for that condo?
*
Probably.

House #406 registered for Unifi.

Attached Image

Is it even available yet in Sikamat?
Interesting! When you search for Seremban, this house doesn't show up.

Even more interesting is where it's also available. flex.gif

Don' put much hope, the heart of Ipoh's central business activities also got no HSBB yet.

All the telcos like halted their expansion plans because maybe their subscriptions are not growing as expected.

Another 2-3 years wait perhaps.
*
The Streamyx business packages must be cukup for their needs.
Now if the HSBB ISPs can lower their prices...
Which is impossible since TM controls everything from backend to frontend.

How can ISPs make money or offer competitive prices in this enviroment?

Thanks. The area is actually a huge commercial centre in PJ. It was supposed to be one of the first areas that Unifi is supposed to be available. I think TM is actually losing out by the delay.

Losing out to whom? smile.gif

losing out money..
a lot of business potential there
*
TM will only lose money if there are other HSBB competitors to take up the slack and lock in customers.
Right now if there is no Unifi service you just have to wait for Unifi. sad.gif

Well, before my office had Unifi, we had YES. So, TM wasn't making any money from us for broadband then. Plus these days, maxis and p1 will also offer services on TM's fiber. I would have preferred maxis hsbb.
*
Yes has limited qouta.
And as you pointed out , Maxis and P1 is riding on TMs fiber.
So, next to no impact for TM really with regards to hsbb services.

I see them pulling fiber cable in Ipoh Garden area today

We were actually quite happy with YES. We don't finish our monthly allocation and they give free calls. Don't know why my bosses were brainwashed by unifi salesman.
TM needs a lot of subscribers to break even on equipment cost. Why spend all the money just to utilize it 10%? I think they have spent in excess of 1b that they will take years to recuperate. The more subscribers, the faster.
*
TM shouldn't have been allowed to operate both wholesale and retail hsbb.
It's uncompetitive and restricts competition that would have resulted in cheaper and faster rollout of services.
