how long u gonna be there? really need the tripod? means for long shutter only. coz for stabilization, u'll do good with a monopod, don't really need that long shutter. and if u really need tripod, how tall u need it? if not too tall and maybe u can put it on something else, a goriallapod might be a good choice for travel. so instead of a tripod, just bring monopod and/or gorillapod laugh.gif

fansoption: find something with a lot of text like a book, then set on f/2.8. go for 45 degrees and shoot any line of the text. do you got it sharp? if u got the back or front line of text sharp, not the one u focusing on, then u have a back or front focusing problem.

nice features. but don't really like the sliding part, so not suitable for water proof camera. think of all the sand that might be trapped under the slider. grainy noise when u slide and scratch marks!
