try use custom rom,as long as it is 2.1 still got warranty wor,heard some1 say in this thread ~

go menu > setting > location and security > untick use wireless network and gps satellites
then go wireless and networks > mobile network > untick data enabled and roaming,and tick use only 2G networks,and create an access point name(APN) urself
