Kiasu Computer is located in Ipoh Perak, Their main shops is located at Yik Foong Complex 2nd Floor which at that floor were a lot of computer shops as well....

Description of shops : Sales/Retailer for PC/Notebooks/Hardware/Accessories/etc

Mainly their business is more on laptop sales/PC, of course most of the major brand they have it all.....

I was buying a laptop, of course as usual browsing around the 2nd floor survey for laptop model/prices....

One thing i notice on Kiasu is they hired a lot of leng chai / leng lui to attract customers to their door, most of them just explain briefly through the spec written on the laptop but cant explain detailed enough when further question asked they would just try to said 'Yes, yes can, no problem at all'.......

Second thing is when i asked do i still get discount? Example the ACER laptop selling price RM2199 (ACER 4741G) as written on ACER brochure as well, they can give me a discount another RM90 without taking free gifts total of 14 items accesories.....Even for other models/brand as well as i asked them.

I work in Retail PC previously, i was shocked? Laptop selling price Acer 4741G RM2199 a discount of another RM90? Mostly a margin profit is around 90-120 for a laptop without giving out gifts....even if they can hit the quarter bonuses is just a minor 1-5% rebate...

I think the way they do their business/way of selling is a little unfair for those shops nearby correct? Since laptop is a price control from ever laptop brand...

And do you all think i bought my laptop from them? Guess it smile.gif

This is a discussion not a flame thank you, leave your comments smile.gif

It is up to them to sell at lower or higher price. In the end, it's the buyer and seller market out there. Maybe they know or think that quantity is better than quality. If they make too little profit margin, they are only killing themself and spoiling the market for themself. No need to worry about nearby shops. Cause in the end, endusers will benefit!! Just hope that the stock they are selling are proper stocks and not those illegitimate ones.

Yes it is indeed correct, end user will gain, of course i gain as well which is i can buy a laptop with dealer price even though im not a dealer....

But killing the market with those prices, if i wanted to open a shops i dont think i will sell laptop.........

Most ppl tell computer shops = turning money, as i can see its the truth

not really...laptop selling can make less profit because there are no after sales service involved. Unlike clone PC that need to provide 1 year warranty.

Sell Expensive = Complain
Sell Cheap = Complain also?

Lolz everybody like cheap stuff. I dun see anything wrong with their tactic to lure customer. You as an end user should benefit from cheap price right?

Bout throwing price issue, let the distributor handle this issue. I don't see any point you want to complain as an end user here icon_rolleyes.gif

Unless you are owner shop nearby which operate same field, cannot "tahan" see their price

You involve in IT field 3 years, notice margin RM80-RM150 per laptop. Maybe you should involve more / longer with bigger company for clearer picture. In business there is always "lubang" to get cheap stock brows.gif + depend on relation with "big boss" too.

If not you won't see IT field in Msia grow steadily, see outside the box thumbup.gif

I bought ACER 4741G at this shop before.
The price that they given have 20 item free gift.
If you want discount, they can discount for you but they take back 20 item.
Plus the laptop have 3 years warranty.
I run over yikfong, this the only shop can get cheapest notebook with discount.

Bro, it's not something about fair or unfair. It's about how desperate the owner is.

If you own a shop next door, you can also make RM 5 and let go your stock don't you? It's all up to the shop owner how he's going to play with his cash flow.

The way you post make me think that you're one of the laptop seller fail to keep up with your competitor.

I'm running a business as well & I know there are shops out there sellng at dealer price or even lower than dealer price. Even if they are throwing prices, what can you & I do about it? They got the money, they take in quantity, thus the low price.

It's the money game. The one with lot of money win.

they gave discount ..in order increase their sales ...

you rm100 each laptop ...1 day sell 2 =rm200

but people rm40 each laptop 1 day sell 10 = rm400

end user benefit , the shop can clear their stock ...

i dont see any argument here

For what i know there aint much lcd original replacement for laptops. basically when u send back to vendors they change the lcd also not the brand as the same. exp: acer laptop lcd screen might be brand samsung, lg, or watever.. its not necessary is acer.
if i didnt get mistake, if lcd screen for 14" there might cost u price around RM380 - RM420 there with installation included.
I once heard if u send back to vendor after warranty like acer back to acer will cost u around RM600++ or higher.. if its LED LCD then much expensive.. since its new now biggrin.gif

Added on July 26, 2010, 8:20 pmin addition they will also provide u with warranty for 3 or 6 month depends.. but i never seen any problem after changing it.. my friend.. biggrin.gif cheers~

they have loads of variety.. but i agree some of it too expensive. but get a sales rep that you can trust and nego your way. sometimes can get great discount..

BTW I always get my stuff from Xpert Computers, a small shops nearby on the same floor. the taukeh is a bit "kerek" if you counter him visely he's actually quite a guy and the bargain is good. he run the shop by himself so he kept the cost minimum (unlike Kiasu) but downside are lacks choice of manufacturer.

Me: Boss, why u got no gigabyte?
taukeh: why u wan to buy from gigabyte, lot's of defect, the company going bankrupt u noe ah?

LOL wink.gif sweat.gif
UPDATE* oh no.. went to Yik Foong today and that kerek shop is closed. theres a notice about "kena sita" or something..

Sniper PC above floor also good choice.

But lots of shops use no price tags tactics in Yik Foong, need to prepare and be carefull especially when buying laptops.

customer: how much is this?
Seller: tell me your budget, I can show u..
shakehead.gif

but the one I truly loath in Yik Foong is Redcom. Their reps are impudents and always treat their potential costumer like we don't have money to buy their sh!t!

If you wanna buy from Redcom go to their main office near Jusco instead.

Im not KIASU rep..but i can assure u if im in Ipoh..i will always buy from them from 2006...n no such a bad item i got...i wonder y only buy 3 things n also only simple things...it always get defected?..i think its ur unlucky day...my item buy from kiasu that needs for RMA is hitachi hdd...but after 1 n a half year of using...cuz of my careless...my PSU got burnt and it effect 2 my mobo and HDD...but i juz got my RMA item from KIASU back...and its now working fine...and no other such item i bought from them broken.

p/s : its true the sales rep only cun2 and doesnt know anything...but thats only from 2006-2009 i think...after that boley2 looking but with no expertise

its my 1st time buying a laptop. ive no idea. and guess what the laptop lasted 1 year and died de. before this . had plenty of repair and replacement from them , almost costed me 500+ .
as a seller ,they should be alittle honest in selling their products. just quietly sell farking cheapo stuffs to consumers in order to get rid of it. im glad if their shop had closed down.

im using a dell inspiron and its 2 years ! glad to see it still running ok.
