hi all. how do i use a thumbdrive and play the songs in it?

I tried the car's plug on ipod, it works.

but when i plug in a normal thumbdrive, the radio display just keep on blinking "device" when it's on USB mode.

Earlier, all the songs are seperated in a folder, artist -> album, it can't detect. Then I put all the songs outside the folder. It still doesn't read. Or I need to format the thumbdrive to a certain format? Thanks in advance for the help.

m4a doesn't work on my side too but mp3 works well. Try it out.
*
ok. i think maybe that's the problem. but the funny thing is, ipod's purchased songs, all in m4a. but it can play when i plug the ipod.

does it got to do with the thumbdrive read and write? or does the car very sensitive to certain brand of of thumbdrive?

it seems honda city can't read my sandisk cruzer blade 16GB.

tried my old Apacer 4GB, it works. So does Jim Raynor's dogtag USB, 2GB.

anyone of you using 16GB thumbdrive? I just want to know if it's specific brand or the size is giving the problem. thanks.

Most USB car audio players nowadays supports up to 8GB thumbdrive in FAT32 format only. Your 16GB is working fine just that most likely the NHC can read up to 8GB thumbdrive.
*
thanks for the info. I'll try to partition it to 8GB tonight see if it works. Maybe it will recognize 2 drives. hehe.

in the morning i notice, when the engine just started, still cold, white fumes will come out from the exhaust. Is this normal for a new honda city?

white fumes? Correct me if I am wrong but that is the sign of water humid in your ekzos. This usually happen when you cold start the car. Especially after rain or in cold places.

according to my fren.....early in the morning if ur car has the sign of water humid, it is a good sign to show that ur engine is in good condition......
if u wan to test it, after start ur engine early in the morning, put a piece of paper at the ekzos there...this is all according to my fren, and i cannot confirm how true it is.... doh.gif
*
thanks for the info. I remember last time someone told me white fumes means the engine masuk air. haha. not sure if it's true, cos now i'm getting high FC, averagely 10.3km/l. Most ppl say it's quite unbelievable as they know NHC should get around 15 ~ 17km/l. Anyway, hope to sort it out when I send it for 1st servicing. Does changing the motor oil from semi to fully synthetic can improve the FC? I browse thru the pages in this forum, lots suggest it's the way you drive. I agree, but i hardly do sudden braking and tailgating ppl.

I too notice some of the assembly quite shoddy, especially the mudguard. It's quite loose.

first service is actually just an inspection? no oil, filter..etc change right? might as well call it inspection after 1 month.

Haha, thn u need to pay for the oil change fee. Its good also for ur engine... thumbup.gif
*
yea, that's what they tell me. i need to pay, i said i don't mind. then they give me banyak excuse, lots of car, need wait till 4pm. i think if change oil, change the filter, means the filter is free for me.

Uh huh? 100% city driving?
What kind of modification you have done to your car?
*
means he drives in the city (not Honda City) all the time. not long distance or highway.

but that FC is really good.

But this is NHC thread.. I believe he is driving a honda city.
That is almost impossible FC to get.
*
i thought that you're confused with 100% city driving" phrase he mention.

it's very much how you drive it. if you notice, anytime you press on the acc. pedal, the current FC bar from 20km/l for example, drops to 15km/l then 10km/l and so on. If you release the the pedal, it will go up 20km/l all the way to 40km/l. The more distance you cover without pressing the acc. pedal, the higher your FC will be. So, based on this, press on acc. when you need it only. again, it's subjected to how far the distance you travel everyday with it. the further you drive, more data points it can take to calculate the average. the shorter, the less, means average is quite skewed.

and one thing, i read somewhere, the optimum rpm n speed for low FC for NHC, is 3 - 2.5rpm and 90km/h. I haven't try it yet.

Uh, how can the car move if we don't press on the accelerator pedal?
Furthermore I'm staying on top of a hill. tongue.gif Impossible to go up by not stepping on the accelerator.
In standard city driving in KL, difficult not to step on the accelerator.
Anyway, I'm pretty satisfied with my F/C right now.
*
can. momentum.

if u stay on a hill, then i can't help you.

*
what did they change in your 2nd service? my 1st they didn't change anything. they inspect, and say everything's fine. might as well don't call it a service. haha.

i have a problem with playing my thumb drive. it was working fine before this, but when i formatted it and try to play again, it just comes out device on the lcd. I checked the format and its fat32. But somehow the player doesn't detect the files.

Any solutions?
*
Format the thumbdrive, and at the "allocation size", choose default. copy back your files. Use folder to separate it by album or artist, so that you can cycle through.
