Which is a better investment ? can PS3 do almost everything POHD does?

if what you want is just a media player, just get yourself the POHD as it can play mkv files that are widely available.

it all boils down to whether u will watch more movie or play game?

If for media player better get POHD because it can support a lot of file format and subtitle. POHD also more cheaper than PS3.

if for movie only get the POHD... ps3 is good if u want to play game as well.. plus u can watch bluray

if x main langsung, better go 4 POHD...

ps3 can passthrough HD audio codec(Dolby True,Dts-hd, etc) while POHD cannot but ps3 support lack of container in the mainstream.

FYI, PS3 and XBOX CANNOT PLAY MKV files. So it's totally useless. Sure you can stream from your PC...but you'll encounter lots of problems...and substandard quality output....not worth it.

Play games=XBOX360
Watch movies=ACRYAN, WD TV Live or any other BRANDED media players.

yea i was like you last time but i bought my Xbox360 more than 3 years already where i choose xbox over pc... then it comes to the player decision after i buya LCD TV and it is very clear that any stand alone media player can play much more variety of files that you can at those console... so after i bought the LCD TV then HDPro (media player) not long ago and my xbox now is like sitting there dump fat and happy, only play less than 15 hrs per week and mostly only switch on about 2~3 times a week only... where as i switch on my TV every morning and evening for western tv series, hk tv series and a hell lot more of movies now...

too many movie and series to watch, neglect the PS3...
too many games to play, neglect watching movies and series...

for me i learn my lesson after seeing my ps2 now..
last time i bought it thought i will play a lot of games
i think played it less than 50 times..now sitting there gathering cobweb.. lol
then again,if u really must get a console..i think xbox360 is better.. (cheaper games too )

hmm.. depends, I bought the PS3 back then because it was the cheapest Blu Ray player out there besides being a gaming console... these days, a lot of folks buy and sell used games... so a PS3 game isn't really that expensive.

+1... as i said if you are a hardcore gamer then PS3 but if you are into movie series then pls get media player...
don waste ur money and say PS3 coz i got BD player i would say not you can download full BD or full HD movies online and u get the BD quality that you want...
at the end is ur choice, i'm under utilizing my Xbox360 now coz my gf and i watch movie more than i play games (as i mention in earlier post)... even my live gold also i did not renew already coz very seldom play games with fren online already...

who ask you to buy modded console... duh... me 3 years++ already no problem at all

for me i dont intent to play online la..
the streamyx service is s#$% enough as it is..

You'd be surprise how (pretty) good online gaming for PS3 is even on a 1MB line...

i use ps3 to watch movie and series every day, now few month not played game on the ps3.

ps3 - watch favourite BD..mostly animation with my son..also GT5 during weekends

wdtv (hopeful acryan soon) - watch 720p series i.e lost/fringe/v and any occasional movies of 720p me dun want to go to cinema

all in all..use sparingly of both...

but if u r a completist (sound and sight) go for a ps3 for cheapest the blu ray player...pair with good amp can..nice

eh true or not 1mb can run fine.. im tempted to play game but the lag really turns me off.. dl speed wise its fine but the latency is really bad.. maybe the 1mb line in east malaysia is crap lol

I go fro PS3..
I play a lot of games and watch a lot of TV series, anime's and movies.
Although MKV files are not playable in PS3, I have no issue converting them to PS3 playable type.
Just use mkv2vob converter. It just take minutes to convert them. A 2gb file can take around 2 to 3 min to convert..
