My new Panasonic LCD TV's speaker was not up to my satisfaction. I'm not planning to set up a home theatre system, so do you guys think attaching a 2.1 speaker to the TV is a good idea?

why didn't you test the lcd tv speaker before you buy the lcd?

make sure that the 2.1 speaker that you're going to buy is up to your satisfaction by testing it first.

IMO , u should. Panasonic A/V products alwiz have such probs , especially the speakers, watt too low , have to turn it all the way up till it's almost full bar to get a 'so-so' audio. shocking.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shocking.gif But depends on the pricing for the 2.1 speakers. If too pricey , it's better u get sth more powerful (i.e , 5.1) to complete ur set-ups of a home theatre. No point wasting 'agong's head' if the pricing for 2.1 aint cheap enuf. Panasonic home theatre has similar probs too , beware~~ cry.gif

Haha...thank you all for the comments. Yup, my Panasonic TV's speakers not enough "oomph", although the picture quality is still OK to me.

So 2.1 PC speakers can be used for the TV right? Should be no problem?

Err... aren't all TV speakers in the same 'sucks' category?
That's why there are Home Theater Systems...

if tv speakers are good then HTiB no need to manufacture liao.. laugh.gif

and to the TS.. if u are planning to go for 2.1 computer speakers.. please lower down your expectation so that when you hook it up.. you'll be saying.. 'at least better than the tv speaker' thumbup.gif

I set my volume to 20 and find that it is loud enough. If I set to 25, family members start to complain and ask to lower the volume.

Exactly. Cmon lar. Look at the LCD TV..so thin....by this physical design alone can guarantee all speakers of such TV sucks. The mid and high range may be passable, but low range basically does not exist. Same goes for my Sharp Aquos LCD TV....but it doesn't break though...not that i have need to pull the volume high up....i use a Samsung 5.1 HTIB anyway.

That is not true...some 2.1 PC speakers are actuallly BETTER than low-end HTIB. It depends on the amount you are willing to pay.

Try Creative T-3. Blows my Samsung HTIB away. Another good recommendation Creative T-40.

Your problem is actually a 'volume too soft' problem. Is it your source problem? Try ASTRO, DVD, XBOX, PS3, Media Players etc? Does the volume difference? My experience is for ASTRO, volume can be a bit soft, especially if u use a wireless transmitter or pull a long cable to a second TV set.

WUPIWUG, agreed! thumbup.gif

it's true though that Sharp LCD speakers are better than Panny, same source , no "suara pecah" issue like Panny..sigh! cry.gif

thanx for askin, bro, but source aint the prob for my "pecah" issue.. like i said, i'd exchanged for a new unit & prob still exist..plz dont misunderstood thinking that i m seeking for a HT AQ in a LCD, haha.. laugh.gif i m not that greedy with that kinda price we paid for it. smile.gif all i m sayin is for example; if we have "volume too soft"/source issue, paling teruk is that we have to turn the volume up-up-&-away & prob solved,correct?.. laugh.gif but the prob for panny is got "pecah" issue , other brands wont "pecah" ooOoo.. Not every brands though, but i'd tried Toshiba,Sharp,Samsung,Sony,Philips , "pecah" free.. hahaha! cool2.gif

Agreed!! To be clearer,i m not saying that Sony LCD can actually gives us the real "oomphh" or the real "booommM" , but sony speakers (HT/LCD) so far hasnt gave me a single prob~!
