Perhaps he meant 100kilobits per second.. Big difference between 100kBps(bytes) and 100kbps(bits)...Anyhow... streamyx seems to be okay in terms of DDL today but browsing has been problematic...

To those who have trouble loading pages... try changing your primary and secondary DNS settings to google DNS:-
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Just a theory i'm testing out.... Of course this will not solve poor download speeds and such... |

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Aug 29 2010, 11:19 PM) Thank your stars you're not living in Brunei Darussalam where the fastest net you can get is still a measly 1 Mbps....And they only have one company to give broadband too... freaking rich oil country with a higher per capita income compared to us, smaller land mass to cover, and higher pop density compared to M'sia and their average speed is 0.85 Mbps.. can't even Youtube properly or anything... In Brunei they actually wish TM would come in and give competition to their state run telco / ISP..... http://www.brudirect.com/index.php/2009091...-the-world.html Before you say M'sia is the worst in SEA, think again lol.... Not denying our net sucks though.... This post has been edited by solarmystic: Aug 29 2010, 11:43 PM |

@guppy
Sounds like a massive congestion problem in your area, i believe your area might be oversubscribed. Problem becomes more prevalent at peak hours as everyone hits those contention ratios... Too many customers on one DSLAM = congestion nightmare with not enough backhaul fiber to feed the connections... |

To all those with slow speedtest results... you probably facing massive congestion issues at your exchange..
I'm still going strong all day today at 440-450 kBps downloads, and smooth surfing, except for some weird dc issues early this morning, IP reassignment or sumthing... |

Hmm it seems that i just got another new IP given at the tick of midnight...
Could the IP leases be limited to just 24 hours with reassignment every day? |

@iipohbee
They'd have to actually upgrade the DSLAM backhaul bandwidth to alleviate your problem.... might take a while, and alot of complaints from people for them to do that... It's a pretty costly operation... |

It's only gonna get worse in most places as Raya approaches... wonder whether we can even surf the net then lol...
Still... in some areas, the service is just stellar, and i've no complaints here in TTDI |

Can confirm that there is some shaping going on for 175 IPs atm...
My DDLs are fluctuating alot... in speed, not stable 444kBps on the graph but more like between 200 to 600 kBps.. although the average does come up to 444kBps.. When the fluctuations happen, web surfing suffers tremendously, pings to servers skyrocket to the thousands lol.... Mysteriously though the pings go down when DDLs are off... confirming some active throttle is happening that deprioritizes the traffic when it detects high volume http transfers... All speculation on my part though lol... |
