interested in purchasing the nokia 5800. but i have only been using SE till now. was hoping someone could perhaps tell me the upsides and the downsides of 5800. and between XM and navi, which is the way to go. heard theres some freezing going with symbian and the back of the phone will tend to heat up during calls, true?

thanks for the reply. yea, i`ve heard that 5800's camera only works when theres sufficient amount of light. due to budget constraint, i`m probably going to get the 5800 navi. some shops offer rm800 for 5800 navi. reasonable?

recently, i went to some phone shops(maxis) and asked for the price of 5800 navi. they gave me the price of rm940~900. and dey say others below this range of price isnt original(Zitron, Avaxx and i-Mobile). should i believe this? or its just another shop trying to fish another hundred bucks from customers?

ok, so i have made up my mind to get the 5800 navi. sadly, i`m not ordering from etradepj due to some circumstances. thus, i struck a deal with one of the kiosk near my place. a deal of rm830, + screen protector. now heres the case, i`ve noted down several things to check before payment, like checking the life time, IMEI, firmware, light leakage, dead pixels, sirim stickers, avaxx/zitron sticker, check the speakers, and call to test the phone. besides the ones i`ve mentioned, what else should i check, or what did i miss? anyone care to give me some help?

o btw, when i check the firmware, what version should i be looking at?

thanks, but its rly dumb that the malaysian nokia site doesnt not have the information on 5800 navigation edition. i referenced it from the europe site, it writes 8gb. well hopefully, still 8gb. ;<

okay. now heres a crisis for me. today i went to a kiosk near my place, where he promised me the alleged "nokia 5800 navigation edition chrome cased". he took out the box(blue coloured nokia box which only state "nokia 5800 Xpress Music") to me, no where i could find the word "navigation edition". i opened the box, the phone i have in front of me is a black cased, red middle casing and patterned back nokia 5800(navi or not, i have no idea). secondly, i chcked the accessories in the end, evrything stated was in there, but a few items isnt wrapped in plastic bags, just bare. so is that phone nokia 5800 navigation edition? as i have received information that navi only comes with either black or chrome, and black middle casing only, with a back that isnt patterned. i`m confused. =(

edit : the apparent staff kept on insisting that the model in front of me is a navi, and the "chrome cased", is called black. not silver/chrome or etc.

well the strange thing is, i asked clareeen.
she said currently, chrome is still not available. only silver black, black red or black blue.
i`m even more so confused now. i thought navi only comes with black and chrome? ???

well as of now, i`m rechecking with her/him. and about nokia 5800 navi, evry kiosk i go to, confuses it with the normal xm. =(

EDIT : CLareen states that the other colours are also available for 5800 navigation edition. i`m very confused now.

eventhough the normal xm now have the free OVI maps. i`m still displeased that they promised me the chrome, and navi. and they give me a normal xm. the only stand point they gave was its free license for the maps. customer service nowadays...

o btw, is clareen and etradepj the same? if so, i`ve alrdy checked with clareen, apparently, clareen has ran out of stock for the chrome case. would need to wait a while. =(

EDIT : only thought of it when you posted the image, i might as well print it out and tell the staff that i want the one exactly like the one in the picture, no exceptions. =)

if you`re finding for the chrome case. you can forget it. evry person i ask say its very limited and its isnt available most of the time. navi has all the colour of the normal xm, just include the car holder. even i gave up on chrome and settled on another colour. silver black, i hope its available. =(

if you need more functions then go for 5800. if you dont need so much functions, den 5530.
for lowest price, you can refer to Clareen. rm800 original.
