based on what i know, rat 5 may be the best bang for buck, because rat 7 has some risk to take, because of the sensor that the device use. if i still remember some post that i read about in other forums.
the sensor that rat 7,9 are using philips twin eye sensor that has problem with Z axis tracking. well, something like that. i forgoted. Maybe the sensor problem has already fixed, but currently now i have no futher information regarding to this. i just have to wait for reviews, and see if anyone suffers from this sensor. |

QUOTE(AlexLai @ Jun 15 2010, 08:20 AM) So simply saying, as long as they write decent firmware to correct any problems with the mice, the RAT is a good and safe buy? possible, i think it is up to the review people put on them to see if any of them suffers from this. plus, razer used the sensor couple of times on their product and they manage to write out a decent firmware that "almost" fix the problem. If i'm correct, madcatz is using this sensor for the first time? i think i will have to search alot of reviews before i will buy this. and by the way, does anyone here brought cyborg gaming mouse before? well, i just wanted to know if madcatz release their firmware occasionally or once a product out, they release a firmware, and will not be updating anymore. i fear of things like this |

But aren't pads that made in steel are easy to rust?(more serious to sweaty hand users)

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jun 21 2010, 04:48 PM) im sure u already know if its stainless steel that would depend on the quality of it. looks like greenforge claims it would develope a patina as you use it longer.so guess remains to be seen, tho those metal pads for gaming are pretty expensive. QUOTE As unfinished steel ages and responds to it’s environment, it develops a skin of sorts, a ‘patina’ if you will. The color and pattern of the patina can vary from reddish brown, to grayish blue, to barely visible, to splotchy, to none. From an artistic perspective, it gives each piece it’s uniqueness and character. We enjoy that each piece behaves a little differently. The patina your pad forms will be unique to you and should be looked at as more a feature than a bug. Some people will develop a pronounced coloring, while others do not. While some residual metal dust may rub off in the first few days of use, over time (week or two) you’ll find the deeper the patina becomes, the smoother your pad will feel and more accurately the mouse will track. This is exactly the inverse of what happens with plastic mats and, if for no other reason, is why metal is a superior material for pads. but all i know is patina is still a type of corrosion, thou i don't really care about art that a sweaty hand created, or should i said dirty. Even so, a patina is created, and they said that mouse would track more accurately because of rough surface, i doubt it would feel smoother with you moving your mouse, since rusted surface are suppose to be more rough and not smooth, and will damage your mouse feet or depletes your mouse feet's teflon. Well, they remains to be expensive eh... but how do you think about steel pads? do they really worth? for me, i don't think it's worth it. QUOTE(mafeya @ Jun 22 2010, 06:00 PM) perhaps we could bring steelpad to cybercafe to self defend incase of this case happen?http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/03/22/c...wallhack-brawl/ you can use greenforged mouse pad as SHIELD! And if his knife makes a few scratches in your steelpad, be proud of it, and tell your friends, you actually parry a real knife attack with steelpad. cheap mouse good for table, expensive mouse better with mouse pad
since they need so called "recalibration" to work better with the surface. while mid end gaming grade mouse such as legendary MX518 doesn't need those fuss to work best, since i got MX510, it works with almost any surface, while i'm poor that time and didn't buy mousepad anyway. there's been some problem happens to Rat 7.
one is mouse jitters when being click, even if you hold the mouse in fix placed and clicking will still move the cursor. second is mouse buttom area are not flat surface like other mouse which completely stays firmly when you press the 4 corner of the mouse downwards. (manufacture problem? i doubt.. but i won't be buying a non flat bottom surface mouse) third is mouse teflon surface, some users has been reporting that the mouse using some cheap teflon that doesn't offers smooth movement on a mousepad. some users has already remove all Rat 7 original teflon mouse feet and replace with steelseries superglide |

So far, i'm using 2 mouse at the same time, Gigabyte GM-M8000X for gaming and Roccat Kone for Web browsing.
Still adapting both mouse and slowly writing a review comparison. I'll skip madcatz mouse for now, and going for Roccat Kone[+]. gonna sell my kone to do upgrade soon. Note : Roccat[+] is not the normal Roccat Kone... Sames like Gigabyte mouse, GM-M8000 is not same with GM-M8000X http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mice/ROCCAT-Kone-/ Picture Gallery Below : » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

kone is the most comfortable mouse that i've use until now except the pinky part
not sure why, but my hand grip the mouse feels like groping *censored*. LOL just kidding. it's a very comfortable mouse for my tatse, just lack some important macro function which is availble in new Kone[+] that's why i'm planning to sell my current kone to get Kone[+]. anyone interested in my kone? rarely used, because using dual mouse, 4 month age, receipt all still have, brought from lingloong. anyone interested can ask me to take picture for reference. |
