The Kova has 5+2 buttons while the Abyssus has only 3 buttons. Also, the LED color can be changed on the Kova whilst the Abyssus can't be changed.

I don't quite understand why you'd say the Kova has less features than Abyssus? Hmm.. Maybe I'm missing something here?

And regarding the worth it or not thingy, it depends how you see it and whether the mouse suits you or not. If it suits your play & grip perfectly, definitely worth it, no? But if you're talking about the build quality and sensor performance, well that's a different thing, and I'll leave it to those who actually owns or tried it before to answer since I don't have one nor have tried one before.

Abyssus and Kova has near similar feels to them for me at least.

But I did find the Abyssus more comfortable to use while fragging long periods of time. Just didn't get to test the Kova that much.

It will be great if a mouse can have a design like ROCCAT and combine a list of festures that A4 Tech X7 rich features such as anti vibrate, Oscar emulator function...etc. That will be a perfect game mice for me laugh.gif

Hm. You'll hava to turn the mouse upside down to change the DPI on the Abyssus since the DPI change switch is at the bottom. Right?

Kova:
5+2 buttons
Changable LED Color
Combo buttons to change DPI & LED color
3200dpi optical gaming sensor
40 inch per second maximum speed
20G acceleration
Future looking a.k.a sportscar design

RM199

Abyssus:
3 buttons
3500dpi 3.5G Infrared Sensor
Has dedicated DPI change switch
1000Hz Polling rate
60-120 inch per second
15G acceleration
Simple minimalistic design

RM139

I don't think the extra 300dpi matters much anyways. Best if you can try both of the mouse to see whichever suit you more. Good luck.

R.A.T 9 is the wireless version of R.A.T 7 for those who may not know.. But the battery life concerns me.. I'll stick with R.A.T 7 ATM..

If the price difference ain't very significant maybe many will go for R.A.T 9 then.

But still, I'd still stick with R.A.T 7 because I always go for wired ones in terms of gaming, don't like the idea of dual mode either. Can save up a bit too. hehe.

if really want to get RAT...dont touch the 5...go for the 7.

the RAT5 should be using the same sensor as razer lachesis.
RAT7 sensor meanwhile is same as razer imperator / mamba.

based on what i know, rat 5 may be the best bang for buck, because rat 7 has some risk to take, because of the sensor that the device use. if i still remember some post that i read about in other forums.

the sensor that rat 7,9 are using philips twin eye sensor that has problem with Z axis tracking. well, something like that. i forgoted. Maybe the sensor problem has already fixed, but currently now i have no futher information regarding to this. i just have to wait for reviews, and see if anyone suffers from this sensor.

rat5 is also philips twin eye...like mentioned the same one that is used in the razer lachesis...which is of cos older than the 5600dpi version as in the mamba.
the 4000dpi one was bad...
basically what it will come down to is how cyborg writes the firmware...or if they even have continuous updates...
cos razer has of cos reduced the jitter quite abit with the firmware upgrades given on the mamba.

So simply saying, as long as they write decent firmware to correct any problems with the mice, the RAT is a good and safe buy?

possible, i think it is up to the review people put on them to see if any of them suffers from this. plus, razer used the sensor couple of times on their product and they manage to write out a decent firmware that "almost" fix the problem.

If i'm correct, madcatz is using this sensor for the first time? i think i will have to search alot of reviews before i will buy this.

and by the way, does anyone here brought cyborg gaming mouse before? well, i just wanted to know if madcatz release their firmware occasionally or once a product out, they release a firmware, and will not be updating anymore. i fear of things like this sweat.gif

rat5 is also philips twin eye...like mentioned the same one that is used in the razer lachesis...which is of cos older than the 5600dpi version as in the mamba.
the 4000dpi one was bad...
basically what it will come down to  is how cyborg writes the firmware...or if they even have continuous updates...
cos razer has of cos reduced the jitter quite abit with the firmware upgrades given on the mamba.
*
so rat 5 will have jitter prob like lachesis?

mamba slimmer than DA...
so shape wise no harm since design is almost same as DA
but mamba is weighty at the palm area

so far, i have a big palm as well, i'm currently testing kone for 20 days compare to gigabyte M8000x, and i still have to complain about the mouse being a lil small, when i have a test use of Sidewinder X8, the mouse was really comfortable, well, or should i say big.

Erm... hehe... got it for RM90 back home in Kuching~ biggrin.gif mine's the OEM version... after a few days of usage I'm pretty happy with it~ laugh.gif comfy grip, superior tracking and lag free response... thumbup.gif gotta love it~ rclxms.gif but one thing that bothers me is the lack of side buttons and the size... considering that I'm used to my bigger 'tikus-es' like the Imperator and the Alien G9 which is bigger and has side buttons... but that's just me~ tongue.gif anyway, it seems happy with my Megasoma mouse mat... no issues at all but the glide seems pretty rough with it though~ tongue.gif maybe gonna get a QCK mini or a RCT Taito~ but anyway... I'm gonna rate this 7/10 for overall score~

Next target brows.gif : Roccat Kova!!! rclxm9.gif

im sure u already know if its stainless steel that would depend on the quality of it.
so guess remains to be seen, tho those metal pads for gaming are pretty expensive.

looks like greenforge claims it would develope a patina as you use it longer.

QUOTE
As unfinished steel ages and responds to it’s environment, it develops a skin of sorts, a ‘patina’ if you will.  The color and pattern of the patina can vary from reddish brown, to grayish blue, to barely visible, to splotchy, to none.  From an artistic perspective, it gives each piece it’s uniqueness and character. We enjoy that each piece behaves a little differently.

The patina your pad forms will be unique to you and should be looked at as more a feature than a bug.  Some people will develop a pronounced coloring, while others do not.  While some residual metal dust may rub off in the first few days of use, over time (week or two) you’ll find the deeper the patina becomes, the smoother your pad will feel and more accurately the mouse will track.  This is exactly the inverse of what happens with plastic mats and, if for no other reason,  is why metal is a superior material for pads.

but all i know is patina is still a type of corrosion, thou i don't really care about art that a sweaty hand created, or should i said dirty.

Even so, a patina is created, and they said that mouse would track more accurately because of rough surface, i doubt it would feel smoother with you moving your mouse, since rusted surface are suppose to be more rough and not smooth, and will damage your mouse feet or depletes your mouse feet's teflon.

Well, they remains to be expensive eh... but how do you think about steel pads? do they really worth?

for me, i don't think it's worth it.

I kinda agree with what you said.

Since the patina is caused by the corrosion of metal, I'm concern about the feet of the mice using it.

perhaps we could bring steelpad to cybercafe to self defend incase of this case happen?
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/03/22/c...wallhack-brawl/

you can use greenforged mouse pad as SHIELD!

And if his knife makes a few scratches in your steelpad, be proud of it, and tell your friends, you actually parry a real knife attack with steelpad.

What options I have for dual mode mouse under Rm300 ?
I can use wired when I need serious gaming , and wireless mode for portability , less messy with wired .

what I got is orochi and sidewinder x8...

for what I have notice , orochi will have sleep 2 secs issue ? is there any fix for it yet ? kinda annoying when it need to wake up , the moment I need my mouse immediately

and sidewinder x8 , I heard it has lots of problem such as jumping issue , jump 20 30 pixels ?

I planned to get a mousemat RM60 and mouse RM300 ... I thinking to get performance mouse mx at around Rm349 where I can save the fees of mousemat , because it can tracks on my glass table, that's what logitech said .. plus the glass table wont damage the mouse feet easy , so mousemat is no needed ? and glass is kinda slippery so it is acceptable for me , no need a gaming surface ... how you guys think ? any more dual mode mouse recommendation ?

PS : == no more $ to get Mamba , this is my best budget =X

DB is longer but the hump is slightly lower... more for palm I guess... tongue.gif not sure about grip/mouse hump suitability~ but the Kinzu is somewhat shorter with a bigger hump... good for semi-claw grip~ smile.gif

My first Razer was a Copperhead 1st Edition and the quality was pretty bad imo. Anyone else face quality issues with Razer?

Mates Logitech G9 was worlds ahead of my Copperhead though they were both the top of the line at that time (few years ago, can't remember).

Retail also has not gold plated USB. Difference is the braided cable and the white scroll wheel.

OEM only got the bubble wrap and plastic case.

lemme help u out bro
Razer DA= side buttons and right ergonomic...Its ok for claws and palm..Max dpi 3500 and polling at 1000hz max

SS Kinzu=Under budget..weight balanced..standard 3 button gaming mouse with 3200dpi and 1000hz polling..

Abyssus=Same catergory as kinzu...Has a higher lift off distance than kinzu (depends which u like)...report at 1000hz/125hz and max dpi or 3500
Lastly if you are worried about heating problem=SS kinzu
Most comfy mouse among all (for me)=Razer DeathAdder
claw and dont nid side trigger=SS kinzu or abyssus..You can palm abyssus but im not sure it would fit palming
claw or palm with side triggers= Deathadder
Small palm=kinzu
Im just giving my thought of these 3...among 3 i owned 2 tongue.gif

I've been using a standard logitec wired mouse for the past 6 years. Plan to buy a gaming mouse and I dont want to spend more than RM 200.

I like the CM Storm Sentinel Advance at the first sight (from photo). Anyone care to advice me on that one. Thanks in advance. smile.gif

i wouldnt worry about negative acceleration unless u play at a extremely low sens, say 40cm / 360, and need to do quick movements.
so basically most ppl wouldnt need to worry about it.

mx518 and kinzu obviously different shape and size.
mx518 also got older 1600dpi, and updated 1800dpi.
imo, go for the mx518 1800dpi version.

cheap mouse good for table, expensive mouse better with mouse pad

since they need so called "recalibration" to work better with the surface. while mid end gaming grade mouse such as legendary MX518 doesn't need those fuss to work best, since i got MX510, it works with almost any surface, while i'm poor that time and didn't buy mousepad anyway.

Frankly speaking, the differences are not significant. If after some time your mouse feet spoil, it coul dbe just a matter of wear and tear....

OR if you insist on knowing the answer by pushing a little more indept, and in my opinion....(opinion only based on my experience on playing since 1st launch of DOTA,...until now ah ..) its all depend on the quality of the mouse feet . Some big brands sounds "GRAND" but could be the mouse feet durability just average quality.

And also depend on what kind laser engine that the mouse has been equipped with; normal users will definately have not much real technical information that what type of sensor a manufacturer used....

Generally, cloth type or soft mat will makes the feets last longer.. nod.gif
As mine, using Logitech G500 with Goliathus Control seems good enough..Some user demand more fast/clear on their movement, so speed type much more suitable biggrin.gif

Seems overpriced for some user but it's a Hybrid Tracking (Control+Speed) in 1 mat if u dont know. Constructed from highly durable translucent silicone and accented with a luminous imbedded logo..For under premium line of mat, that's why the price sitting top tongue.gif

My Logitech MX518 more than 6+ years if not mistaken. Bought it in Australia.

Not for office use. Probably just get a cheapo keyboard and MX518 yet again.

I already have a G15 and G9x at home.

Yes, was waiting for it to go bad last year. Finally, it went back just last Tuesday.

Couldn't wait so I bought a Logitech G9x for home usage and use Logitech MX518 for work instead.

I am probably gonna buy another Logitech MX518 for work.

MX518 is very long lasting, some people I know have it working well even after heavy usage for 5 years.

OCZ Behemoth, IMHO is one of the least comfortable ergonomic mice I have ever tested. The grooves to place your fingers are not exactly comfortable to hold.

But that's just coming from a guy who's been using an Ikari for 2 years.

Krait - from Razer la~ tongue.gif
V8 - from AVF Rapoo lor~ tongue.gif

no lah... Krait is a cabled 'tikus'... brows.gif using an optical sensor engine... and 3 buttons~ V8 is wireless, equipped with a laser sensor if not mistaken and also has a load more buttons than Krait... so imo, go for V8~ icon_rolleyes.gif and the Rapoo V8 is more comfy than Krait... I've tested the grip last time in my trip in HK~ laugh.gif

it's pretty easy once u get to know em more...

DeathAdder is something like Mamba... except Mamba is wireless and DA is wired... the the other family is Diamondback, Copperhead and Krait... they look kinda similar but can be differenciated with the line of lights on the side~ then there's Salmosa and Abyssus, think of Abyssus as a coffin and Salmosa as a dude with a huge belly... then there's the Imperator and Lachesis... Lachesis looks like the head of a snake so it's pretty obvious by the size and Imperator is like a fat and elongated but comfortably designed little 'tikus'~ tongue.gif then there's the Boomslang which looks like the Lachesis in some way but it's yellow with green lights... then there's Razer Spectre too~ the one which looks like a spaceship~ tongue.gif

it is possible to test the mouse at ALL IT, Lowyat plaza. I was there a few days ago testing their Imperator and DA.

On the other hand, i am using a 1st generation DeathAdder and it looks like its time has come.
I am still stuck and i don't know what to buy.

Razer Mamba vs Razer Imperator vs Sidewinder X8 vs Cyborg R.A.T 7 vs Cyborg R.A.T 9

I was supposed to get a mamba, but i change my mind; i shouldn't get it just because it is one of the most expensive mouse.
I'd say the DeathAdder and Mamba feels pretty much the same other than the DPI gimmicks (Same shit with Camera Gimmicks, a camera is not exactly good if the Megapixel is high but people tend to think so)
Wireless v Wired? Not really important.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Question, Im looking at the Razer Orochi for my next purchase...

Do razer mouse's scrollwheel scroll left and right?

Also, how does the warranty work here? personal warranty from said shop or longer warranty from a official dealer?

an Imperator would be nice... if you just aim for the Mamba coz it's wireless and u hate to manage the cables... get a mouse bungee~ but Sidewinder X8 is pretty good too with the BlueTrack sensor... trust me if I were to get a wireless mouse the X8 is good enough~ but the Imperator is pretty good too~ and if you're looking for the Cyborg, I'm afraid I can't help you as I haven't even seen them yet except for the old ones~ tongue.gif

Just bought a Logitech MX518 for my office use from C-Zone located in Digital Mall for RM85.

Bought this mouse to replace my old Logitech MX518 which lasted for 6-7 years before it went bad.

Yeah you're right... But what I was saying is that, to get the feel like Razer Mamba which can cost you rm400+, why not get the less powerful one for about rm180...

The designs are not questionable because of its gaming look and very fancy, also very attractive to gamers. For mouse the quality is still good for razer, though for me something need to be changed with their software/driver. And the quality of their other gaming peripheral, I'd better go for Logitech and other brands. They still need to work on the quality.

Razer Mamba concern :

I've been using the Mamba for several months now and recently suspect battery is having some issue....on full charge, after several hours of gameplay, battery goes flat....

A check with Razer found that the li-ion battery pack is not sold separately. Meaning, once battery died...wireless Mamba becomes 'wired' Mamba unless u wanna buy another set of Mamba.

KOVA still ok to consider. But don't really agree with you to "think" about Rapoo.... Design looks OK, price cheap but.... realiability is a "big Crab"....

my friend like cheap coz its below Rm50, bought one, after click for few days, the click button went stuck sometimes, later cursor starts "unstable" or not responsive... after i help him "tear" out the mouse inside and check, found that it was all made by cheap IC.... poor soldering job....

In that case, it proved 2 things:

1. Mamba is a "Heavy Battery Eater" OR Using "not so" good wireless technology (co nowadays, good and decent wireless mouse are all "low power consumption" oriented ).

2. OR .... the worse is...... they bundle with lousy rechargeble battery.

My statement might not be "like" by someone.... but its a fact that i can think of.

Well, the Mamba's battery is a square one lithium ion (similar to mobile phone's) so any other battery (AA, AAA or others) wont work for Mamba.

The battery can be taken out easily as the Mamba has a battery door where the battery is inserted...it is designed to be replaceable easily without the need of any tools. The only problem is you cannot buy the battery anywhere at all and Razer also admitted that they do not sell the battery individually....so what's the point in making the battery replaceable but no replacement part duh... mad.gif

Oh ya, and comparing to Logitech MX518, Logitech VX and Microsoft Sidewinder X8...Mamba indeed requires more juice to run. Logitech and Microsoft I have runs for at least a month or even more on a single charge (rechargeable AA)...Mamba only runs for few days on normal non gaming use....only hours for gaming use. shakehead.gif

Depends on what game your playing bro. If your hands/palm is small have to target smaller mouse lor. If your hand is kinda big than can get sumthing like Roccat Kone or SS Xai.. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(winstorm08 @ Jul 13 2010, 09:38 PM)
wa lau ... then RM400++ just gone like that ???? Can even open it manually and see how to re-insert another rechargeabe battery ????

I knew this mouse is big eater but never though is so bad design..... lucky i don't own this mouse..., even my G7 No any Lag , everyday use 7-8 hours, still can last up to nearly 3 months  with a standard TESCO alkaline battery... whistling.gif

u mean the mamba? cuz i like light mouse, i mean really light mouse, i put the sensitivity at the maximum, and when in game, like cs, my mouse sensitivity is around 12 + , depending on mouse, on my current g500, maxed out and in game settings, almost near max too

So cheap already.. But Mamba will not be in my list ever.. I don't like the part where they connect the USB..

In fact, I like the idea of the Sidewinder X8, which has a magnetical head, which snaps on the mouse effortlessly..

You've almost mentioned every available wireless gaming mouse on the market, but forgetting the Logitech G7, which is quite an excellent wireless mouse from what I heard.. And the highly anticipated R.A.T 9!

I never own a gaming mouse until last week. My previous mouse was the most basic Logitech wired PS/2 mouse that i have been using for 6-7 years. Last couple months i was interested with CM Sentinel Advance, but due to no stock, i held back. Last week when i was wandering around Lowyat plaza, i didn't know what i had in mind, i finally bought Alienware Tactx mouse. I'm extremely satisfied with it.. haha so happy tongue.gif

WTA any mouse with sensitivity +/- buttons located behind the mouse wheel ?
currently i am using mx518 and the sensitivity +/- buttons located are behind and in front of the mouse wheel.

I am ok with the sensitivity decrease behind the wheel, but the increase is too far infront and reaching it is a little challenge.

Thanks!

Low Yatt Plaza Gorund Floor tis whole week is having 3C Digital Fair, and A4 Tech is there showcasig whole range of new input devices.

One of the highlight is their X7 50% trade in program is back again with a new mode; XL-760 Anti Vibration Gaming mice is only cost you Rm80++ after the trade in discont. Really worth it............ drool.gif

I guess this offer has make X7 become the best value offer in Town than any other models.

Too bad my XL-740 still working perfectly...else i should have get the new X7 Anti Vibration model.

I've used Razer Mamba and Sidewinder X8 before. The Mamba has terrible battery life while the X8 is a lot better. If you talk about precision then it's the Mamba but if you're talking about build quality and software/driver stability then it's the X8 smile.gif If you ask me which one is a better purchase, I'd say X8.

@ipcam88 I dont think the shop where i frequent to sells any A4 tech products..

@victor2212 I am not sure about the size of razer mouse. To my knowledge, the razer mouse are pretty long even for palm grip.

@j.sun I just checked and I FUUU.. Roccat isnt available in Taiwan yet(checked through "where to buy" from their official site). Most shops only have Razer, Logitech and Steelseries. Currently unemployed and don't own any credit card for online purchases.

Quality, so far, it is okay, it is okay to hould.

But those complaints are quite serious for a gaming mouse. Oh well reminds me of that quote about the Mamba I seen on NewEgg.

How is A4 Tech mouse quality?
*
Well, i been to the A4 Tech Low Yat 3C show yesterday, kind of crowded in their booth may be due to its off hours hours.

Manage to hold and feel it while listen the explaination from the promoter ( i think he is a pro gamer) for a while.

Basically the X7 mouse overall built up was quite heavy (come with weight tuning system), and button are sensitive but not too hard compare to Lachesis and Mamba that I had tried in last week WCG held @ Mid Valley. Feel the mouse is very handy.

Cable is solid, USB port is gold plated.... plus FULL SPEED, 3X Click, OSCAR programing features., 24 mtn warranty.. most important the trade in promo 50% is offer @ RM80+..... dam attractive.

Might go back this week-end to test it out again.

i though G9X?
higher dpi with more programmable button
and the more expensive price indicates that g9x is better
but at the end of the day, is still up to the user

I think if you buy it last time with the Goliathus is cheaper. Combo set brows.gif
I got mine at RM215, Goliathus Speed Edition RM49.
RM215-RM49 = RM166 < DeathAdder's price.

I don't know if it's just me, but i found out that I'm more consistent if i game on the mx518 compared to x3.. but i love the scroll wheel on the x3 though, compared to the ones on the mx518.. Sensor wise, I can't really tell the difference, but purely based on my feeling is that the x3 a lil bit faster than the mx518 on the same dpi..

and it's easier to shift dpi on the x3, having 3 dedicated dpi buttons, and if you have a smaller hand/palm, the x3 should be more comfortable.. i can't really think of much right now.. it's 3 in the morning and i'm still alive.. yawn.gif

IMO, it's sensor is good n reliable, comfortable/ergonomic and priced at an affordable price.

Besides, many professional players are still using it, thus building a fans base.. It's a must for gaming mouse collectors i suppose? Definitely one of the legendary gaming mouse out there..

Totally agree with you.

Iinm, it's DPI should be roughly around 800 or so approx but most gamers just set the pointer speed in Windows.

guys, recommend me a mouse

i recently used a razer deathadder and its scroll click malfunctioned.

i need help in which mouse to get, be it roccat steelseries or even razer again.

something that matches up the deathadder by all factors but most importantly price.

preferably below RM200 but i can top up more if it is worth it.

so far so good on this mouse...been using it for 2 months mainly on games like CS, L4D, C&C and latest on SC2...all with smooth play and no problem at all (some review from china site complain about the flying cursor but i did not encounter any so far, maybe it's my luck so far)...but sometimes this mouse will not as accurate as those high end wireless gaming mouse eg. Razer Mamba or Microsoft X8 (for the price of rM169, 5000dpi, u really cant complain much lo)... biggrin.gif

the size of the mouse is not too big, it's smaller than Razer Mamba and X8, suitable for those with regular / small size hand...the weight is a bit heavier than mamba since it use 2 AA size battery...but the battery life is somehow last longer than mamba...i use 2 Energizer 2000mah AA battery with normal gaming and web surfing and it can last for about 1 week (whereas mamba can only last around 3 days)... smile.gif

for the build quality, it's somehow similar to those A4tech gaming mouse, still acceptable...just that the scroll wheel i feel a bit not so smooth la... tongue.gif

For those looking for a budget wireless gaming mouse, maybe you can consider this...as i already recommend it to 2 of my frens and none of them had complain about it... smile.gif

imo, Inferno is actually a downgrade.

Lachesis are shit, i bought 1 have issue the cursor jump, then Razer sent me another units for free. so i have 2 units. in the end KO 1 unit.

now looking for another gaming mouse. after reading so many previews, Logitech G500 got good comments. any can offer some advice? or wait for G700.

Well the imperator uses the same sensor as the CM Storm Sentinel if im not mistaken.

All this 5k dpi bullshit has gotta stop, seriously... i mean who actually needs 4k-and-above dpi?

yea similar sensor.
the main difference is razer has written proper firmware and drivers for it with continuous updates so the mouse works better, unlike cmstorm.

ermm...have you tried using 5k dpi then tweaking your windows sensitivity lower? if i'm not mistaken.. that actually makes tracking more accurate.
again, iianm.

DPI has nothing to do with making tracking more accurate. It only makes the mouse more sensitive. Tweaking windows sensitivity can skip pixels and that CAN affect accuracy. I want my windows sensitivity to be in middle (6/11) at all times. If "using 5k dpi then tweaking your windows sensitivity lower", might as well leave windows sensitivity at default and change the dpi only, right?

more towards how the firmware is written / mouse design of sensor placement etc...
thats why cmstorm sentinel performs like shit compared to razer imperator or mamba, even tho they're the same sensor.

my mouse i set at 500dpi, mostly cos at win sens 6/11 it lets me surf comfortably on my 1920x1080 desktop without the cursor flying everywhere tongue.gif
then i adjust sensitivity to what i want ingame.
