DAV- series comes under DVD Home-Theater category which can play DVD by itself.
while this HT does not equipped with DVD player.

i guess u dont really READ.... wink.gif

it has been stated many many times...

the AV receiver will receive LPCM. you will need a player (PS3/bluray player) to decode Dobly TrueHD and DTS HD into LPCM (HD AUDIO)

ok here goes my review...nothing great but if any questions do ask and ill reply...

Installation time :-

45 minutes to 1 hour as setting up the speakers is a real pain, everything else is just plug and play (color coded).
Rear speaker wires are long which helps in hiding the cables.

Room size: Roughly half a badminton court and open corridor.

Setup: PS3 to HT-SF470 to TV (Panny 50 inch Plasma)

Testing material: Avatar BluRay

Audio Feedback :-

Confirmed HD is only via LPCM. The amp itself does not decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. Avatar's audio playback was simply amazing. With medium audio levels (25 to 32) I was able to hear clearly and loud. The front speaker manages speech nicely without any sound distortion. Even after pumping to max volume (40). Bass in my opinion is adequate. Would not say its powerful but it gives enough punch as expected from 160 odd watts. The auto calibration tool is very simple to use and without fuss.

Am still waiting on my B.yond installation before I can test regular TV usage. Unable to test via Astro as I don't have optical audio cable or does my TV support ARC and since am going to B.yond won't be getting. Will update once B.yond finally gets installed. God only knows when. cry.gif

Also need to test playing games on my PS3. Was busy yesterday so haven't had the chance. Will try and provide feedback soon.

thats all folks...

cheers... thumbup.gif

nope..

this HT system is S-Air Wireless READY only (need to purchase separate S-Air Wireless adapter if you want to go wire-less)

finally setup my HT-SF470 biggrin.gif

Installation : Look complex at first, as u go on and read the Setup Guide/Manual, its pretty straight forward. Wires plug and play to receiver. The only tedious thing is unpacking the stuff tongue.gif and setting up the Speakers with the Stands (need screws, etc)

Sound/Bass : Pretty decent, no complains so far.

Receive : LPCM HD Audio, Dolby and DTS.

Still going through the manual and playing with the settings...smile.gif
