which model?

Hey guys / sifus,

I have these devices at disposal:-

(i) HDTV - Sony KLV-55EX500
(ii) PS3 - 320GB
(iii)Astro B-Yond Box
(iv)WDTV Live Hub

So if..let say I buy this Sony HT-SF470, will it solve my problem of getting 5.1 surround sound? From what I understand...there is no need for digital coax or toslink, right? Just thru HDMI...will achieve full surround...

What will the connection look like?

And, is there any price update on this model?

yes, there's 3in / 1out HDMI for HT-Sf470, you can connect multiple devices to this receiver. besides that, there's composite, component and optical input.

i saw this HT system bundled with Sony PS3 package (Hari Raya brochure), not sure whether they still sell "standalone" for this model...u can ask them

retail price is RM1999...i guess now should be cheaper

As far as I know, my TV doesn't have Audio Return function.

Correct me if I'm wrong...newbie here.

your LCD TV is quite new, 2010 model, i guess it should support Audio Return Channel.

to confirm, you can check out your TV's manual book.

HT-SF470 supports Audio Return Channel.

Nothing mentions about Audio Return in the TV's manual...Manual-KLV 55EX500

I'm afraid the HT-SF470 would be a waste..

sorry.. i just wondering, why u're asking about audio return channel (arc) for a tv? only 1 hdmi cable need to be connected from receiver to tv. there rest are at receiver. so it's all depend on the receiver capability.. no need to bother about the tv because audio and video signal everything is sent by the receiver..

oic...so it doesn't matter what kind of TV to be used with Sony HT-SF470...as long as it has HDMI port right?

Atih007, can you verify the connection type for my case, if I were to buy HT-SF470:

(i) HDTV<--------HDMI (Out)-----HT-SF470
(ii) PS3 (320GB)--------HDMI (In)-----> HT-SF470
(iii)Astro B-Yond Box--------HDMI (In)-----> HT-SF470
(iv)WDTV Live Hub--------HDMI (In)-----> HT-SF470

The connections above would make it possible to achieve surround sound, right? I mean all sounds would go out thru HT-SF470
