Hi,

I have just played with the Dell Streak, and I can say that I want it. biggrin.gif Imagine fitting an entire webpage without zoming out and you can read everything. The HTC Evo 4G is sold ou in US-not coming to UK yet. My question is, how viable is using Android in Malaysia? Any carriers offer specific phones? Support for the phones?

I know Iphone and Blackberry is offered by carriers and there are packages for it as well. Not so sure about the Android though.

well well imo, how about position dell streak something in between a phone and an ipad? Perhaps we need to take a balance point between mobility and the screen size issue, everyone has their own preference. Some doesnt mind about carrying big piece of gadget while some think that gadget should evolve smaller and with more functionality inside.

IMO, Android is still growing, regardless in Malaysia or not, still not mature like Apple. Frm what I see now is support of Android is still very limited, looking at they never allow Malaysian user to purchase apps from the market (unless you use some tweak around)

Viability is excellent. Provided you can get data.

Without data plans, these phones are useless and worthless.

Check out DiGi's smartplan. You can grab one without having to grab the phone. Cost effective too.

Android is only an OS still, has nothing much to do with carrier plans.

I've been using a Nexus One since Feb, and I've never once encountered any difficulties with it and my DiGi Ambassador. =)

Dell Streak uses 1.6 still? So that means no Bluetooth OBEX file transfer right?
But I see on GSMArena they say it'll eventually be upgradable to Froyo 2.2

Yes. However, all current 1.6 Dell will be upgraded to 2.2 next month. O2 is already testing the 2.2 on the market. The only thing which makes the updates slow for the phones is that they have their own UI. Nexus one will always be first to get updates as it only runs android.
