The transfer of bennayoun involves 7m fee plus 80k a week salary (same with joe cole salary). Is this a better choice instead of giving a 30k rise to cole? Furthermore, bennayoun is 30, and he get a 4 years deal..

IMO, the 7m fee is ok for a UTILITY player of that age. But the length of the deal as well as the wage is too much..

I said a utility player because we need a replacement for joey, ballack and belletti and i think bennayoun can replace all of them. 3 in 1

I believe in Ancelotti decision and for bennayoun, welcome to chelsea and make yourself at home!!

ps-I still hope this is only a rumor though...

Benayoun hmm.gif
*Gasp*
WTF?! WE SIGNED AN OLD MAN.

ohmy.gif Bad move. 5.5m. Any news about his salary then?
Bad move by Benayoun too. I think he can only sit on the bench.
I do not mean he's bad. but just we got many player like him already. We do not need him.
And still, if he do something miracle on our right wing position, I salute him.
*
i believe CA bought him because of his versatility. just think how many position he can play. left, right, middle.. furthermore, he already adapted to epl style, proven to have a heart of a winner. he will be on the bench if we didn't brought in any new young player but if we bring no one, the chance of him getting a good time in the first XI is quite high.

pros:
-utility player
-super sub -> can become match winner

cons:
-30 years old already
-salary is the same as Joe Cole salary which is 80k per week

QUOTE(Wan @ Jul 4 2010, 05:17 PM)
Did you guys won the league after spending close two 100m on players? You finished 2nd. And it was only ManUtd who was in a rebuilding process and Arsenal back then. City have it harder since they are further down the line a bit when they started spending. And this time there are better teams around. The big 4(Liverpool included), Spurs, Villa, Everton.. they're all strong this time. It will just be a matter of time though before they break into the top 4. Once that happens, they will only get better.

Think about it. If Roman had bought Leeds, Leicester or Wolverhampton who all went down in 03/04 instead, it would be a Leeds/Leicester/Wolverhampton thread here which would be more popular. It might have taken longer, but with the money being thrown around, it was only a matter of time, like City would show eventually. 100m a season, where before that you were struggling if I remembered correctly with Bates although you got good results in the league. That's what people mean by money->trophy especially with clubs that have a sugar daddy like Chelsea has. From out of nowhere, comes in a rich guy, buy players out of his own pocket money, and presto, you're the champion. Like I said, could easily bought any other side, and would make it a champion in no time. Arsenal, us, Liverpool, any other side buy players from our own pocket money almost. We spent within our means which we earn through whatever income the clubs generated themselves.

On the pitch, it's clear you guys are worthy of whatever successes you had and will have, but it will be forever be in the shadows of the ££ with Russian signature stamped on top of every trophy. Don't cry when people doesn't acknowledge you guys as worthy. The fact is, without Roman, you wouldn't have the same amount of successes over the last few years since he came. You guys just have to live with that reputation.
*
lol wtf with this post? suddenly got butthurted out of nothing. jealousy is so obvious.

did you not dream somebody can buy your club from the yanks? and if the answer is yes, why did such a dream come into your mind? it is because you realize the yanks are stupid owners who puts the club into great trouble with all the debts.

clubs need money, not only to strengthen the squad and to improve the facilities, but also as part of a re-branding process. football nowadays have become a big business and in order to get the profit, you need to invest first. roman bought chelsea because he see the potential of it to become a major brand; spend his money to buy players so that chelsea can won something. from winning, the club reputation will increase and indirectly will increase the revenue from shirt selling, merchandising and etc.

you can say anything you want. and you can twist everything to your likings. we did spend using roman money but look where it brings us to. and if i am not mistaken, we are on the verge for a break-even where all the money spends on players will come back to us through other channels.

i don't give a damn about what other fans think of chelsea. i wonder what will the reactions be if some sheikh buy the club from the yanks and start spending like mad (like what real madrid do)? will you say you guys already powerful and the investment is to make yourself stronger? bullshit! when other clubs is blessed with a fortune, you doesn't need to make that as an excuse to cover your club misfortune. its pathetic. please refer to my signature, everybody is a glory hunter. and as a matter of fact, it is from man u fans, surely you recognize him.

we are not born to this world with the knowledge to support which club. with our own logic and reasoning, we choose what is suitable for us.

eh, how come my post kena quote pulak  rclxub.gif

PS: i dun say everyone is a GH, i said everyone STARTED as a GH. Either start liking football to support a great team, or start supporting a club because of a great player there.
*
actually, i quoted it simply because i agree with it.

we are not even born when our club was founded. even for the very first supporter, they don't even know whether the team can become the manchester united as we know today. we are human and inside ourself, we are all a winner. that is why we choose a club that can become a winner or have someone that behave like a winner. however, the meaning of a 'winner' is subjective and it is different from every human being and hence producing fans for different clubs.

rather than contemplating on the spendings of rival clubs, it is better for us, football fans to discus something more beneficial. today maybe its chelsea day with all the spendings. who knows at latter stage it will be yours. the bashing about spending will continue and never end.

IMO, let us keep the amount of spending an internal matters. after all, chelsea didn't stole any money from man utd to be used for acquiring new players. owners of the club should be considered as part of the big family. they are like father in the club. we are blessed with roman, not only from his money but also for the love that he have in chelsea.

Credit to SuperBlueLions from here http://myespn.go.com/s/conversations/show/...812/sort/oldest

"Winners:

EPL
1954-55, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2009-10

FA Cup (if you dont know the oldest cup on the planet)
1969-70, 1996-97, 1999-00, 2006-07, 2008-09, 2009-10

Uefa Cup Winners Cup
1970-71, 1997-98

Super CUp
1997-98

Chelsea was the first team on the planet to wear numbers on the shirts, thats why during the legendary South American tour of 1929 the were called "Los Numerados", The Numbered Ones. Chelsea is big in south america.

Thats a bit of history, but the fact is that ALMOST EVERY team in EPL has history, for gods sake its birthplace of football. Every team has something, some happy, some tragic, Some may have won more, some less, but each one is unique in its way.

Lets not forget there are teams with more past wins doing great, and those that nobody wants to play for (Leeds) For example Steue Bucharest has won more CL than Chelsea, do any of the players want to play there "because of the history", or do they knock on Red Star Belgrade door ? The fact is that the BIG 4+City are the richest clubs in EPL, so its their history on the spot, it could be any other, QPR, Newcastle, Nottingham Forrest and then their history would be on the spot.

We can argue here for years, but the fact is that players want to be part of history, they want to be history, and only a strong team, good facilites, great staff and a good manager can do it. "

I just post it here because it explains well about the 'history' thing. So whenever rival clubs taunt us about history, here is the answer ^^

i think the transfer of ozil to madrid is good to us. he is indeed a star in the making but we should seriously developing the squad for future seasons that is according to the new rule. at least this can give a life line for our youngster to make a breakthrough into the first eleven. even if ozil comes here, he will not be considered as homegrown player. correct me if i'm wrong. hehe

the blues back is not up to par and unlucky for the miss kick from the WH stricker... felt that ramirez is not the fit role to play, he should play more up as there is essien and mikel... still think yossi best fit the lampard role...
*
yup. quite agree with this statement. btw, it is still too early to judge him. i really hope ramires can be a utility player (can play AM, CM and DM position). it will be a bonus!

Good game for the team. Our next 3 BPL matches will determine the true characters of our team. We must admit our early fixtures is a bit easy and the team should not be too complacent with the situation.

Man of the match for me is Essien hehe He totally dominate the field.

ramires also did not impress me much. he was more of a normal player and i see him overly defensive most of the time. we already have mikel at the bottom, ramires should be providing the forwards some options. we dont need two defensive midfielders. he needs to up his game and quick. we have more games coming up.
*
totally agree wih this statement. our formation during attacking period got a hole in the center of it because ramires is dropping too deep. essien and mikel already on the defensive duty so ramires should step up into the hole. maybe he still getting use to the team's formation. the introduction of benayoun improves the situation but after 4 nil up, carlo should introduce kakuta or sturridge instead of him..

haha yeah. essien is having so much fun. surely he missed all the fun time when he was injured. hopefully he can continue his great form.

the team also performed well without the injured lampard. hopefully he will be fit especially against city. and thanks to carlo for resting anelka. i believe he deserve it after a good performance against Zilina

waaa we lose the game huhu i didn't watch the game because today got meeting. scared i tertido in the meeting haha

losing is not totally a bad thing. it was not my intention to downgrade the value of carling cup, it is still important but there are other things that far more important.

1st one, the team is off to a dream start. we scored 21 goals and only conceded once in all games before the games against newcastle. so, there is complacency within the team. it is a bless actually that we lose here. at least the team (overall) will feel like they are normal team again and start working hard. i believe chelsea will come back stronger from this defeat.

2ndly, our young player got the chance to show their worthiness. I heard van Aanholt, Josh and Kakuta had a superb game. So now, we got at least 2 wonderkid in the team hehe

Please look on the bright side of the lose. Losing sometimes can put you into a reality check and surely the team can benefit from it.

yup.. agree with KidsCode. there is a hole in the team attacking formation. i believe it is ramires's job. he better get used to EPL style fast because from his price tag, people is expecting a lot of thing from him.

i also realize in the first half, ashley and iva not going forward much. they kinda hesitating. perhaps for safety reason? that left our attacking side with 3 people upfront and limit the choices..

back 2 back defeat..better improve the condition starting with the game against marseille in midweek. we got arsenal after that..
