Well first of all I’m quite impressed by how everyone’s so calm in handling our recent departures laugh.gif . I guess most of us are in agreement that it was the right time for them to go.

Has anyone else read about bally’s agent claiming his willingness to accept a 1 year deal on reduced wages? A bit strange that we didn’t take up the offer if this turns out to be true. However I applaud the management’s quick and decisive actions, if this was only about wages all along. We really are heralding in a new era, where astronomical paychecks are only given to the truly deserving. Considering the fact that carlo and wilkins had already expressed their desire to maintain joey’s services, I’m waiting to hear the player’s side of the story, after reading on vitalchelsea that he’ll ‘lift the lid’ about what went on during negotiations, after the world cup. hmm.gif

Now the lads in our reserve and youth squad will be filled with that little bit more of optimism, and this rings especially true for kakuta, stoch and matic. I’m happy for them, yet still sad we’re bidding our final farewells to joey, bella and bally. All the best to them and here’s to the future!

QUOTE(aw13 @ Jun 10 2010, 10:56 AM)
Matic and Stoch?  Not so soon.  I think there will be surprises in store for us after the WC 2010, in transfers.  Chelsea has been prevalent in most of the rumours already, if you ask me.
*
Aw13, I thought its like that every season biggrin.gif

extremely important year ahead for stoch imo. Wonder if his 'demands' for first team football next season had anything to do with joey's departure.

QUOTE(madfag @ Jun 10 2010, 02:42 PM)
it might. stoch must have been doing very well during his loan, yes we've seen short previews but im sure the coaches watch the full games. joey would have easily accepted if he really wanted to stay at Chelsea but i guess maybe he wasnt offered? i like joey, but honestly he hasnt been at his best and a rare glimpse of magic here and there isnt enough to win titles.
*
True. Those rare glimpses are one of the reasons he isn’t in carlo’s first choice eleven. I wish there was some way we could guarantee he’ll be in blistering form for chelsea next season, but evidently that’s not the case and the board have opted for the obvious solution. Stoch’s successful loan spell means he’s at the top of his confidence now.

Like hidzwan said, chelsea definitely have some big plans in store. What’s most interesting is waiting to see how much money and youth promotion will be involved.
While I hope to see a bit of both, it certainly is a bad idea to go crazy on either one. Too many youngsters thrown into the mix too soon, and we risk being stuck in ‘transition’ for years. I’m sure nobody wants to see us become arsenal 1.5, while splashing too much cash will mean alienating our developing prospects.

Stoch just signed for Fenerbache..

Not loan, but permanent move.

Added on June 10, 2010, 10:36 pmSure sign that Chelsea going to sign someone big!

i just checked out their website, lo and behold stoch's smiling picture was at the top of their page......someone please tell me this is just a mean prank on chelsea fans...what the hell are we doing? still awaiting for official news from our site, but nothing's up yet. this is insane..
i'm disappointed. i truly am. but it does seem like we're going for someone big here. or am i being too optimistic? this is chelsea fc after all. maybe we got confused which club di maria plays for? tried to do a player plus cash deal then suddenly realising we've got the wrong team..huhu sweat.gif

@kerplunk - well not actually, only recently we are 'big' in the transfer market (ever since RA took over la).

before that, i remember 1 season we only had one signing...free somemore.  DE LUCAS 21, rings a bell? smile.gif
*
de lucas = LEGENDARY. laugh.gif
he had that goal-getter look about him, gotta admit. but that's about all he had!
right about us not being big spenders during olden times. huhu

THIS IS NONSENSEEEEE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!

what are we thinking! oh man sad.gif this just ruined my day! who in the world is gonna be the next terry.

QUOTE(hidzwan @ Jun 11 2010, 09:01 AM)
woaah..wut is master Carlo plan actually?..4 players go n still counting..

A complete overhaul?..
*
sigh. i'm just as worried as you guys, not to mention quite gutted too. well mad, the next terry could be iva i guess?
waiting to see carlo's 'master plan' now. and i still think we confused fenerbahce with benfica blink.gif
our right side was desperately in need of strengthening. now the need just got more dire. haih.

I see Basti coming

be warned, bayern are hardline negotiators. with the kind of money they demand, it'll be safer to go for someone like james milner. proven and probably cheaper. look at how much they squeezed utd for hargreaves. and that's for a player who spends most of his time in the treatment room!

QUOTE(aw13 @ Jun 11 2010, 10:49 AM)
Why all assuming CA's the one letting go of Stoch?  Maybe Stoch wants to leave?  Another case of being impatient maybe?  Can't wait for another season on the bench/on loan?

Follows the footsteps of all our youngsters who have now gone to seek pastures anew at foreign grounds.  Pity actually, I'd like to see the next JT who bided his time and became a stalwart later.
*
it may be possible he was the one looking for a move. but the thing is, perhaps we could've fought a little harder to keep him? this is where we wait with baited breath to see what the management has planned. at the moment though, it looks a bit worrying with all the exits, and no arrivals. sweat.gif

QUOTE(madfag @ Jun 11 2010, 12:10 PM)
what the likes of kalou and pato needs is protein. its impossible to fend of EPL defenders with the weight they are at right now. i've read in a magazine that anelka does weight training mainly to fend of defenders but of course he doesnt wanna get too big and slow himself down. kalou has been with us a long time but he hasnt grown bigger one bit.

i dont know if you guys remember but it was really hilarious when he wore his kit over a bomber jacket during our EPL celebration. LOL laugh.gif
*
pato does look really lightweight. some gym time can change that. his injury problems are a concern though. but yeah kalou refuses to get bigger. maybe its his metabolism..and who could forget that 'fatsuit' he was wearing! and the way he punk'd yuri just as the russian was about to hold the FA Cup trophy..priceless tongue.gif

hmm yeah we have to assume they did their best. i guess the initial shock of losing a player i practically hyped up all season long, hasn't dissipated completely blink.gif someone mentioned a buyback clause earlier, sure hope we have one of those inserted! four out already, and bruce buck was talking only about 2 - 3 exits. looks like he's waaay off the mark. i wonder if he'll be wrong about the number of arrivals too. icon_idea.gif

it certainly would be great if someone graduated into our first team, but it does take lots of time and patience. with regards to how things are going on now, only outstanding talents will have an outside chance of making it through imo. (COME ON KAKUTA AND BORINI!! tongue.gif )

anyway, what's everyone's take on the david silva rumours? franky, i have to say i like them. huhu

edit : i meant frankly! i wasn't addressing the post to frank lampard lol

getting a bit shifty as i read the news as well. nothing official yet, but it mostly points to the fact that we've secured our marquee signing. and its...its...yossi benayoun. laugh.gif oh well...i expect him to be cover for the first team anyways. we did lose joey, bally and bella after all. a replacement for bella, me thinks!

kalou cannot be a regular starter due to his lack of consistency. unless he can pull a string of good performances, he still has to sit on the bench.

COMMON SILVA! YOU KNOW CHELSEA IS THE PLACE FOR YOU~ laugh.gif
*
haha silva's astonishingly direct comments about chelsea has certainly peaked our interest in the player. He’s an amazing talent alongside mesut ozil, and I wouldn’t mind either of them. The Spaniard hasn’t shined thus far, but will start revealing his class soon I’m sure. Just checkout some of his vids with Valencia, and you’ll realize what a coup he’ll be if he chooses to make the trip to SW6. Left wing, right wing, or tip of the diamond, he’s good enough to make an impact on any of the given positions.

I don't mind both of them at all too, but doubts exist as to whether they fit into the EPL or not.  Especially both are in the play-maker role, both have similar physique, etc.

Hopefully one of them would don the no 7 mantle, we need a good no 7 already.  Maybe Ozil 10 and Silva 7 (since Kalou already has the 21).
*
hoho having both would definitely be overkill, so one will do just fine. Yes both seem to be small built, but remember the legendary zola was no muscleman either when he came to the bridge icon_idea.gif .Ozil only has a year left with Bremen, so he could turn out to be the cheaper alternative. But in the event it escalates into a bidding war, I do feel we’ll make a final offer and consider alternatives. Unfortunately, ozil hasn’t been as forthright as silva in where he’d consider playing, so we may concentrate on trying to nab the Mestalla man first!

ballack's last shirt...sigh. a bit sad when u put it like that. i certainly do hope its not a case of not knowing what you've got till its gone, with regards to the team. will never forget all he did for us. hope matic picked up a good number of tips from the veteran.

mehh as expected most of the media and rival fans are taking this huge opportunity to take a swipe at terry and us. Doesn’t surprise me one bit. Not really interested in wasting energy replying to some of the ridiculous stuff that gets posted around other threads as this is off-season, and it should be a period of temporary ‘ceasefire.’ Well that’s my opinion anyway. Besides that it also appears that some people are trying hard to deflect attention from their own star players who have been utter pants for England. Do keep in mind there are certain quarters who still can’t get over the fact that we won the DOUBLE, and it's reflected in their posts. rolleyes.gif

tiago looks pretty good for portugal in that 7-0 mauling. loved his technique for the headed goal! hmm wonder how things would've panned out if he stayed at chelsea. we certainly wouldn't have signed deco imo hmm.gif

actually, i think it was the daily mail who reported bastian actually commented that lampard's exquisite chip should've been a goal, and lampsy just brushed it off by saying "no worries, its just one of those things." i salute u frankie. now go on a nice holiday and come back stronger for the chels!

like i said before....ozil and aguero it is! lol

ahh the clock is ticking. its the old chelsea habit of leaving things really really late when it comes to incoming transfers.
gervinho? when the ACN comes around he'll be gone along with a bunch of our best players. no thanks. next please.

he mentioned ballack DIRECTLY. WOOT! tongue.gif
any chance gourlay has asked the german to have a little 'chat' with ozil on the phone? judging by the alleged 'silent treatment' chelsea gave him (according to his agent), i kind of doubt it. and what was it that silva said again? chelsea till i die? yeah something along those lines..before he joined city. laugh.gif

best case scenario is we actually have a couple of players signed up, but the players themselves have requested chelsea to delay any announcement, until after the world cup. vote best case scenario people! rclxm9.gif

heheh potentially lots of split opinions on our latest acquisition. for what its worth, dynames makes a lot of good points.
versatile, plays with his heart on his sleeve and quite a hard working player. he'll have more of an impact compared to joe cole. u heard it here first smile.gif on the same wages as our ex-player? even better news. keep in mind joey was looking for a hike in wages which was promptly rejected outright. well not outright, but u get the picture.

my verdict : a very good squad player. but people like kalou and mikel will not be sitting comfortably with his arrival, u can bet on that.
if they don't maintain a high level of performance, its their places which are under threat.

QUOTE(dynames07 @ Jul 4 2010, 11:15 PM)
actually, i quoted it simply because i agree with it.

we are not even born when our club was founded. even for the very first supporter, they don't even know whether the team can become the manchester united as we know today. we are human and inside ourself, we are all a winner. that is why we choose a club that can become a winner or have someone that behave like a winner. however, the meaning of a 'winner' is subjective and it is different from every human being and hence producing fans for different clubs.
chelsea.
*
true. everyone had to start somewhere, and most people chose a club based on whatever 'glory' they had or MIGHT have in the future. however there are also others who initially got hooked on certain players, was born in the vicinity of said club, or even became fascinated by the colour of their jersey. but in the future, everyone hopes for some measure of 'glory,' as nobody, i repeat NOBODY is ever genuinely happy the club they support ended a season without silverware.

QUOTE(madfag @ Jul 5 2010, 09:00 AM)
the conclusion is, we didnt buy the trophies. we won them with players that loves the club, an owner that loves the club.
*
the trophy buying allegations will forever be thrown about by rival fans, who are deluded enough to think their clubs have never spent a single cent on their way to success. they eagerly await and lap up whatever news they have on roman getting sick and tired of chelsea, and yet he's there almost week in week out at SW6, watching the majority of our matches at the bridge, cheering and celebrating like a REAL fan (not some cold, calculated and selfish businessman who can't tell the difference between football and ice hockey). the day roman calls it 'quits' never comes, while they keep reading news on their owners contemplating another huge loan and plunging their club deeper and deeper in debt. hence the reason for all the envy and hatred becomes clear.
