Guys please advice me on something. I'm here shooting a lot of wildlife and the 55-250mm isn't giving me enough range. I'm planning to get a 70-200 F4L IS + TC (not sure 1.4x or 2x), please shed me some light.
If there are other combo out there to get better reach, do let me know as well. Budget around RM4k. |

QUOTE(pengster @ Jun 20 2010, 01:55 AM) You do know that with the 70-200 F4L + 2x TC you won't be able to AF unless you have a 1-Series body right? Yeap. But that issue can be resolved by taping the AF pins on the lens, which is not very hard to do lol. Sigma 150-500 vs 70-200mm, i wonder which is better Maybe you could look at 3rd party options, like the Sigma 150-500 OS HSM. It's around RM4k if I'm not mistaken. Seems like it is guaranteed to work with 1.4x, but not with 2x because it will be f8. But with 1.4x, it's only 280mm at the tele end. QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 20 2010, 02:59 AM) The 400mm f5.6L is right up ur alley. New unit for USD1299 at Amazon. Nice long whitey at exactly ur budget. Ah, I officially hate Ianho for poisoning me with new lens. Although it's good, but poor and lazy person like me prefer something that can be used as a walkabout lens. |

QUOTE(vikingw2k @ Jun 20 2010, 12:54 PM) Problem with that is how often will I be using that lens (100-400) in Msia and the market to sell it off if it starts to collect dust at home 70-200 F4L has a fairly good range and I'm quite sure there's a market for this lens, just incase. But it is definitely in my mind now |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 20 2010, 10:29 PM) U said not enuf range but why then r u thinking of 70-200 which is shorter than ur 55-250? The 400L is nice for the wild life stuff u have been posting here. But my heart is now leaning towards 100-400 L reco by viking |
