sometimes when i pick up a call, the volume will automatically mute by itself.. i have to press on the volume + key several times but it still would not work. a second call would then work fine.

i wonder what went wrong?

iPhone 4 aleady been been announced. Now we have to anwer whether N900 or iPhone4 better
*
the design is compelling and the hype is at the max atm. i wont lie. i like iphone4.

i am AMAZED on how reliable apple's support/marketing strategy is, they announced it 10mins later it's on their official website, iOS4, iphone4 promised date.

here we have delayed 1.2, dropped out official meego support etc. let's hope the upcoming meego device will be as sleek as iphone

fennec is definitely laggy and slow. microb is the most frequented browser on my n900.. though not perfect but is still the best. (screen tearing is worst scrolling down and up in portrait mode shocking.gif) opera comes second wink.gif then fennec and lastly chromium albeit it is a lil bit biased cos i only used it once in my entire n900 journey.

guys, dont get too defensive on iphone4's debut yah. n900 is targeted to niche market therefore it will not die that easily; at least the geeks over maemo.org will not allow it to happen anytime soon. so yah, community based support is definitely there and nokia has not entirely pulled out from maemo scene yet. so keep your fingers crossed for a surprised firmware.

well said mate. well i would like to share my fair views on iphone/apple. let's look at the newly announced iphone4g that rocked the internet, i think you missed one important point though.. which IS the main key selling point that drives the overwhelming sales all over the world for the past few years until now.

it's the ability to show off. iphone, or rather Apple, carries a premium price tag for their products, and it is common thinking for people to associate premium price = showing off. certainly not all, though. personally i think we can categorize them into several different categories of buyers; early tech enthusiast adopters, fanboys, or even rich people who just want to get everything latest; from their latest season LV belt, luxury sports car to iphone4g.

there are also people who don't care what it can do or what it can't do, plus the avant-garde designs of Apple products which mostly attract people especially from creative industry; where most beautiful women and men ranging from models, advertisement firms to fashion designers can be found in this industry; they need the iphone4g to compliment them; (cant deny the exterior design is really superb.. glass, aluminium, ips tft etc) they certainly do not want to be labeled as geeky carrying n900 and android around, do they? just like how people categorize blackberry users as boring businessmen.

and you can't just generalize all uncle and aunties as technology illiterate lah lol.

This is the way I did for my Ideal 500mhz - 1000mhz.

Beginner's guide to get Ideal1000 shortcut icon on my N900.

1. Install rootsh.

2. Install Titan's Kernel from Extra-Devel. Reboot.

3. Open X-Terminal, type sudo gainroot

4. Type kernel-config load ideal.

5. Type kernel-config limits - 1000

6. Type kernel-config save id_1000

7. Download and save the files and png to your root. (as for me i only use ideal so i only copy id1000.desktop and id1000.png)

8. Open X-Terminal again, type cd MyDocs

9. Type cp id1000.desktop /usr/share/applications/hildon

10. Type cp id1000.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/hildon

11. Close X-Terminal. Go to your N900 menu, tap on screen once then click on the Gear, then click on Add Shortcut. Scroll down to find Ideal 1000.

12. Arrange the icon as you like on the desktop. Reboot and you will see the icon. Tap it once to activate it and you are now on 500mhz - 1000mhz.

p/s: you can edit the min and max as you like, as well as the png picture as you like. letters are sensitive.

download both zip files posted by MeLi. =)

the steps above are for id1000 only, there are 3 more you will have to repeat the same steps for other 3 different files. (default, ulv1000, xlv1000)

if u want to be like me 100% time on id1000, just follow the 12 steps listed above.

no need. just save it as id_1000 because the command in id1000.desktop can only recognize id_1000. dont worry it will run on 900mhz accordingly to the limits that you have set which is 900 - 900.

if you insist to save it as id_900, you have to change the command in id1000.desktop. just rename the last part to id_900. (or whatever name that you've saved)

actually Nokia n900 original price still stays its not dropping at all. Only the AP phones thats dropping maybe because the AP supplier have good demand and good supply.
*
normally price increases due to low demand with amble supply.

good supply good demand = price stays
low supply good demand = price increases
good supply low demand = price decreases
