Guys, is there any way to type chinese in n900 without missing the symbol virtual keyboard? Last time I tried SCIM, it caused the symbol virtual keyboard missing, I am wondering is there any software or ways to type chinese now?

Its a java application, no installation needed.. BUT.. its not build in app.. so once you have type the word.. u have to copy & paste..

Installation steps..

1. Just unzip, copy the folder to your memory and open the index.html
2. You can save the bookmark in ur phone desktop.. can be access easily..

p/s: it even can be use in ur pc..

Thats a nice web app. But I found it quite hard to key in. So I will take this as temporary solution until the SCIM fixed the symbol problem. Anyway, thanks ya. smile.gif

each phone have its up n down.. no phone is perfect.. and of cos the developer wont create a perfect phone with everything inside.. cos technology improves day by day.. and for them to release the new technology in a new model which make them improve and make a fortune out of it..

so at the end of the day.. its up to your self how u wan ur phone to work like..

some like it simple.. some like it to be complicated..

as for me.. im not a very expert techie.. but i like to learn more and play around with it rather than being spoon-fed (install & play)..

i like the feeling of accomplishment where i download the apps/program, get it install, configure it, and finally get it running..

its like ur hardwork is being rewarded.. the feeling.. priceless.. lol..

well said mate. well i would like to share my fair views on iphone/apple. let's look at the newly announced iphone4g that rocked the internet, i think you missed one important point though.. which IS the main key selling point that drives the overwhelming sales all over the world for the past few years until now.

it's the ability to show off. iphone, or rather Apple, carries a premium price tag for their products, and it is common thinking for people to associate premium price = showing off. certainly not all, though. personally i think we can categorize them into several different categories of buyers; early tech enthusiast adopters, fanboys, or even rich people who just want to get everything latest; from their latest season LV belt, luxury sports car to iphone4g.

there are also people who don't care what it can do or what it can't do, plus the avant-garde designs of Apple products which mostly attract people especially from creative industry; where most beautiful women and men ranging from models, advertisement firms to fashion designers can be found in this industry; they need the iphone4g to compliment them; (cant deny the exterior design is really superb.. glass, aluminium, ips tft etc) they certainly do not want to be labeled as geeky carrying n900 and android around, do they? just like how people categorize blackberry users as boring businessmen.

and you can't just generalize all uncle and aunties as technology illiterate lah lol.
*
totally agreed.. just came back yum cha with a fren who owns a blackberry, he is showing me all the business related apps like live stock market, currency exchange.. etc etc.. bcos he work in a bank and he feels tat those apps are useful to him..

but when i showed him n900, he also quite impressed but he doesnt need all those fancy or geeky apps..

so its up to individual on how he prefer to use his phone..

Shake To Control your N900′s music player buttons! Awesome accelerometer app for Maemo 5. Fantastic alternative to dedicated music keys.

Dunno if the apps have been downloaded by you guys or not but i search the previous 2 version and find no one sharing it..

I have downloaded from app manager and tried it.. work like charm.. cool.gif

and leave out the n900 to dry in the sun while it charges...

heat damages batteries, you would not want to leave out the external battery pack in the sun as well.

more heat = more self discharge of batteries.
*
i think its not how it work.. this is something like dc-11, i think it come with an internal battery.. but its solar charged..
