hello to everyone that owns this game,
i havent bought this game yet, still saving money and hopefully already in 'best of' series when i have enough. tongue.gif
anyways, ive been reading some online news,
it appears that the game ff13 will sometimes cause the ps3 to hang when saving. after manually rebooting the ps3 will then permanently no longer able to recognize any media on it, so cant play games or blu ray movies anymore after that. thus rendering the console 'rosak'.

is this true, need some advice from owners if they had this issue or if the issue is common only to region 1 (usa) and not others etc etc.

much help appreciated.
Thanks
*
Yup. There indeed were some complaints from a very few players that FFXIII froze. But just very few and most of them are playing the NA version.
I dunno what is the real cause. Some said it wasn't the fault of the game itself, but the console.

But I guess there's no such complaint now.
Just lay back and enjoy the game without worrying too much.

heh some of the dialog have been change to suit NA style.wonder how the english sub for chinese ver that use jpnese voice. hmm.gif

WTB ff13 r3 chinese ver. laugh.gif
*
I bet the english sub is the same with the one in Eng version.
I'm playing the Chinese version and obviously the sub is not translated directly from the jap VO. Most of the times the sub shows totally different things from what the characters are saying. Sometimes I can even see there is eng sub but no Jap voice and the characters' mouths are moving. sweat.gif
It seems that they ripped off the english VO in Eng version then put in the Jap VO.

that is really lame to the max.  laugh.gif copy paste ahaha.

cancel buying ff13 chinese ver laugh.gif

btw item name change sukkz.fortisol.dewatevasol doh.gif

The Eng sub is lame, but the chi sub seems accurate after I've played a small part of it. And now I'm not sure about the moving-mouth without voice because I noticed that the characters are lip-synced with Jap VO. But I thought I saw the moving-mouth thing, still need to confirm on 2nd playthrough.

BTW items, weapons, battle menu etc names are all the same with eng version. Only they are changed if you play chi-subbed version.

So if you are playing for the chi sub then worth buying. Or if you can just ignore the less accurate eng sub. For me, I can ignore the lame eng sub, but not the eng dub.

hey guys, i'm in need of a little help..

Is the 'Gold watch' that supposingly increases time to ease scoring 5 stars really necessary in completing the trophy where u kill the last boss ?

I have maxed all my crystarium stats and maxed out lightning and fang's weapons while vanille has a semi-upgraded nirvana ..

Will these be enough to score a 5 star rating or should i get the gold watch first?

Help much appreciated. Thanks ;D
*
For the last boss Gold Watch is not needed at all.
I didn't even max out my crystarium stats and used only Tier 1 weapons and I still got 5 stars. So I don't think it will be needed. Just keep attacking him to stagger him and beat down him in just 1 stagger.

Ok noted, highwind is Fang's COM skill right?
*
Yes. But if you have just arrived in Gran Pulse for not long, I think it will be difficult for you to beat him, unless you can kill him in one stagger. If not, power up 1st in later chapter, then only consider doing so.

QUOTE(King83 @ Aug 16 2010, 11:13 AM)
chest from where?
i can't go back to old areas?
*
Unfortunately you can't go back to old areas, except Gran Pulse and Eden in chapter 13.

QUOTE(aun104 @ Aug 16 2010, 04:48 PM)
guys, normally when u all upgrade your weapon? at chapter 10?
*
I personally didn't upgrade any weapon until post-game, and it's sufficient for me to beat through all the enemies and bosses in later chapters. It you really wanna upgrade, do so maybe in chapter12 or 13. Check the 1st post for more info on how to upgrade efficiently.

hi,

i want to ask in chapter 11 after fight with alexander( hope's eidolon) must grine at gran pulse ?? cos i seem to die very fast in that map... or is it just like that ?
*
Better grind now. Choose some easier enemies and avoid Behemoth for now. Enemies from now on will be quite tough especially in later chapters, in which most enemies can KO you. If you grind now to have higher stats, you can speed through the following chapters. Or you can do some low level missions now, so tht you can get some good equipments while grinding. If possible, get the Growth Egg, which give you CPx2. After that, you basically don't have to grind too much.

roughly how much gil do i need to complete my treasure hunter trophy? i currently have all the basic weapons , just need to upgrade to tier 2 .. ( ultimate weapon done for all 6 characters )..

Another question : Do i have to max ( star ) all the eq ? or does it just have to be tier 2 ( eg : level 16 and not a Star )?
*
For me, I have to get 35-40 platinum ingots to get the trophy. Don't have to upgrade it to star unless you want to transmute to tier 3.

*
Growth Egg will make things much easier if you get it before proceeding to ch12 and 13. For now go straight for mission 55 1st. Farming gil sucks more. smile.gif

*
Don't waste your time to farm CP, farm money. Money will always be in short compared to CP if you equip Growth Egg. By the time you've farmed enough money, your CP should be greatly in excess.

Hi,my hp in chapter 11 in oerba is 3k + more or less. Is it too little for fighting the boss ?
*
Not sure whether it's enough. If you don't have problem with the enemies there, then the boss shouldn't be too hard. But I suggest master most of the Crystarium lvl8 primary roles' nodes.

u mean the boss Dahaka at chap 11 right? Im stuck at there too huhu..

how cme, keep on dying. Huhu

Have synergist to buff your party and saboteur to debuff the boss. If still can't, grind more.

im now stuck at Proudclad 2nd battle in Chapter 12,my hp currently 7k and Crystarium lvl 4 for each characters, but this guy really giving me hard time,my attacks did little damage to him after he power up(glowing with orange color),it'll takes forever to kill him then sad.gif help?
*
That's when you didn't kill him in the 1st stagger right? Because I think he went berserk after a while, but I think not for too long. For that period, have SEN and MED, if possible, a SYN for buffing. Wait for him to cool down then stagger him.

kill him in 1st stagger?izzit even possible?cuz before i manage to kill him he went berserk and all his HP got restored back to full sad.gif and i oso tot he gonna cool down after a while but didnt happens until i KO doh.gif with my level now izzit beatable?should i run around the area to lvl up more first?
*
Sorry I was thinking about the 1st battle. You mean the 2nd battle in which it can change it's form right? He won't cool down. biggrin.gif
Yes. There is a time he will restore full Hp and keep attacking you. Better buff your members at the start of the battle, but I don't remember whether he will debuff you. If so, then don't buff again. Make sure you are in green hp bar before he goes berserk. When he goes berserk, put ur members into sentinel and medic mode, and if possible buff yourself. When all members seem to be in safe zone, make your way to staggering him. If hp got depleted a fair amount heal yourself. Or go into SEN mode again if things get more dangerous. Must make sure you are buffed all the time.
If you think it's still too hard for you, I think better lvl up 1st, not to mention enemies will get even much more tougher later and especially in 13 chapter.

what bout chapter 12  where farm gil??
*
You can kill those Cieth Sacrifice. They drop Perfume which can be sold at quite a good price. But I think now don't bother with farming gil, or never if you don't plan on getting the treasure hunter trophy. The best way to farm gil is to kill Adamantoise to get Platinum Ingots in post game.

the 2nd battle, with SYN to buff my party the fight became easy wink.gif actually im not a SYN fan and never use it as much but now i know the power of SYN,now i already in Chap 13,went back to Gran Pulse to farm money and CP before the final battle icon_rolleyes.gif

SYN is a must in almost all battles in later chapters. Without them, you'll be toast.

I prefer the story in FFX, but the battle system in FFXIII is refreshing.

Nope. Never buy Trapezahedron, too expensive. By the time I got around 40+ platinum ingots, I've already farmed 6 Trapezahedrons.
Plus you actually need only 3 of them to have all tier 3 weapons.

ayam still stuck at ch11 barthandelus. cant dps fast enough to beat that doom counter. im using standard build, f/l/h, and all primary roles have been maxed out. already read the guide, and everything, but still no luck. sad.gif
*
Did you buff your party and debuff the boss? When he debuffs you, have 2 medics to cure with Esuna, while having another one to debuff him. If Daze is making you unable to do anything, toss Foul Liquid.
Doom will only be cast if you don't defeat him fast enough.

hey guys, I'm having problem defeating barthandelus @oerba. I've maxed out all my 3 main roles for each characters and half way thru on another extra role. My character's average hp is around 4k, max the weapon lvl for light, fang and snow(the 1st star only). But yet, I cant defeat barthandelus. sad.gif Do I need to max all my crystarium roles? I'd hope not cause it's freaking hard to lvl the extra/side roles as they consume many cp but only upgrading low stats. sad.gif
Any advice? I usually use light/snow/fang. I focus more on attacking. Thats how i lvl up my characters. I lvl up at the area where bahamuth and a wolf fighting there. anyway, I Read online that I should use Shaz for the haste buff and Hope for the buffs too and light for attacking.
But my shaz attack power is only 480+(if compared to snow/fang/light, they hav around 900-1100 ap). So yea I'd doubt I'll be able to win with that kind of status. . Any tips/advice?  icon_question.gif
Thanks.
*
My advise is not to use Sazh. He is terrible. The best party is Lightning/Hope/Fang, and they make up for all the 6 roles in your party. Hope has very high magic stats so he is ideal as both MED and SYN, while Fang has the highest attack so have her as COM, SEN and SAB. Lightning remains as COM and RAV.
Before going into the battle, you can stock some Foul Liquids to cure Daze. At the beginning, have RAV/SYN/SAB to buff your party and debuff Barthandelus. This should build up some stagger points, then switch to RAV/RAV/COM, until he is staggered. You can continue with that paradigm to have higher stagger %, then only switch to COM/COM/COM.
And it would be best if one paradigm is MED/SYN/MED, since this boss can dispel ur buffs and his attacks can take quite a chunk of hp from you. Once your hp reaches the safe zone (don't have to be full), switch to MED/SYN/SAB to debuff the boss. And you may want to have a paradigm with a SEN to reduce damages to other 2 members and save them some time to cure or buff, but only when that SEN have green-zone hp. Just switch wisely between your paradigms depending on the situation and you will be fine. Always put your party's safety as your priority instead of doing some reckless offensive attacks.

Don't put both Snow and Fang in your party as they have very same roles. This pairing might be efficient in defeating normal monsters, but it rarely works on big bosses and those monsters in high-level missions. FFXIII requires you to have some tactics instead of mashing the ATTACK button. Without MED, SYN and SAB, you'll be toasted, especially in EDEN.

Yiazmat is actually not tough (since you can run away and then come back), just that he has a ridiculously high hp.
On the contrary, I got my blood boiled while fighting Ultima.

Now thinking of it, I can't decide which one I like more, FFXII or XIII. Both of them are just mediocre, but I have more fun fighting those bosses in XII, Long Gui in XIII is just disappointing.

OKay honestly, FF XIII was the worst FF i ever played. The stoy was the worst in the series. Although i have to admit, the Graphics and battle were really good ( im sure every1 knows the linearity aspect of FF XIII so i dont need to mention that sucked ) but seriously, L'acie, Falcie, Pulse, Cocoon all these just gave me a headache. I know they are gonna fix the linearity aspect in XIII-2 but please !!! give us an FF worthy story ! Versus XIII on the other handn looks quite good, even the setting is much more interesting than Lightnings horrible tale. OKay, incase i offend any1, these are my opinion.
*
I also think that the storyline/plot is the weak point of this game. This is disappointing me as the plot has been the main factor that got me into the ff series. The linearity on the contrary is not a problem for me at all. Oh, btw, if you wanna understand the Falcie thing completely, pls play XIII-2. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sctan1986 @ May 18 2011, 01:52 AM)
any suggestion in chapter Sazh need defeat the fire summon? i keep dieng or not enough time -.-
*
I don't remember exactly how the battle goes. But have Sazh alternates his specialties during the battles. If not mistaken, they are Com, Rav and Syn. Of course, haste is a must. Changing the roles at appropriate time is the key to winning all the summon battles. After a few tries, you will get the whole idea. Don't worry.
