I have also set the internet free using DiGi SmartPlan Unlimited.

From experience, 3G is doing about 1mbps download & 300kbps upload.
If I get EDGE (no coverage or deep indoors), I'll get around 100kbps download & upload speeds.

Btw, find DiGi Telecommunications in Facebook & leave them a note/complain abt 3G coverage in your area - they may not solve ur problems, but are pretty responsive there ...

I think pcphobic covered quite a lot already, maybe i'll add a bit here and there biggrin.gif

QUOTE
1) Instant contact list and calendar sync from phone to gmail or gmail to phone and integration with Facebook (profile photo appear instantly after I add new contact in my phone)
^ any new appointments i set in my Google Calendar is sync to my phone (vice versa) & to everybody who I've shared the calendar with (including their Android phone) ... seamlessly!

2) Find your exact location using the built-in GPS with Google Map and also navigate around.
^ the location info is also used by apps like Movie Finder, Twitter, etc ... so location based Searches. All I need to do is ask my Android phone, "where is the nearest hospital" and the google results will show the locations, address, telephone number ... from around my area; if I need directions, just click "navigate" - done.
QUOTE
3) Find out the latest movie showtime based on your current location
^ cinema suggestions sorted by distance! Movie Finder app. has details like cinema location/contact info., movies showing and their showtime; view trailers & read reviews!
QUOTE
6) Show them the Goggle App which do a google search based on what image your camera sees
^ Google GOGGLES rock! It's a search by image app. it recognizes shapes & objects; latest updates includes reading foreign language text and translate to English!

I would like to echo what pcphobic said about DATA PLANS are compulsory for SMART PHONES to prevent them being DUMB-ed
*** unless, of course, if you are in Singapore, where the WHOLE country/island is FREE WiFi-ed ... ha ha ha

Gone were the days I'd say, "I'll have to remember to do that when I find a WiFi connection later" ... which normally means, it will be forgotten ... sad

oh well, constant syncing for me means drain battery even faster, so even if I have 3G I would only sync when I want to.

I'm using Edge connection on prepaid, max RM5/day. Have to limit use la, can't use too much else not worth it. I have wifi in office and at home, so most of the time I will have internet connection anyway.

But yeah, can't have a constant unlimited internet connection sucks

Ha ha ha ... I feel you man ... same here. Androids are not mere mobilephones ... they are a more portable version of netbooks! biggrin.gif

Btw, get JuiceDefender and leave the 3G management to the app.
The default setting will switch on 3G for 1 min for every 15 mins OFF - when u switch off your phone screen. You'll get at least 2x battery life out of it.
So far, at the end of the day, I'm still with about 20% battery left. Some has reported >60% battery left by their end of day!
It all depends on how often u surf & talk on the phone ...

Wasn't on DiGi before this ... got a RM10 pre-paid pack to try out their RM5 max per day broadband. Er ... do you know that it's 3G as well? Just that it's capped at 350kbps download and 150kbps upload; EDGE is abt the same (as above).
If you've spend RM5 for that day, I'm sure you're like me ... will use "kau-kau" for the rest of the day (until 12midnite)! Ha ha ha ... it's FREE oredi mah ...
