You guys are crying over spill milk. What's the use complaining to the authorities? When Byond first came out and you saw the hardware and noticed the "recording" button, you should have asked what's that all about. If they had fail to give you an answer (of which they have no answer anyway), then adopt the wait and see attitude. You don't go complaining when for example you buy a car today with no airbag but lo and behold they install one on the next batch for about the same price? Same with you don't go complain to Intel when they come with a faster processor when you just bought yours. Ditto mobile phones or any other gadgets.
The thing is, there will always be an upgrade. It's whether you have the patience to wait for next one. But since you didn't..oh well.

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Jun 3 2010, 07:02 PM) I do have interest of Astro having the Planet Green HD channel. Great channel to watch too. After all, it's part of Discovery too. Good but can we have Discovery HD first?

Byond PVR Box is HD enabled and plug n play option has "HD service through Byond Box". WTF does it mean? Does it mean I can use the recording function if I opt for the plug n play option but it won't record HD channels in HD?

If I do subscribe to the plug n play PVR (using WD hard disk), it will be because of the convenience of pausing live TV and I can go for a piss or pansai or have dinner or gf calling to to go to bed for a little fun .....then can continue watching again. I don't need to record it for keeps coz it's bound to be repeated sometime in the future.

I sincerely don't think the PQ for AEC 301 is any good. Watched the award show they broadcasted live from Taiwan last Saturday (26/06) and the PQ is like watching normal YouTube quality on a 50" Plasma TV.

QUOTE(l_berd @ Jun 29 2010, 05:10 PM) they can remove the FxHD.. it's totally crap and filled with outdated series such as Seinfeld and Boston Legal (sorry fans ).. Heroes is ok though, so does Flash Forward (is it on FxHD or AXN HD, cant remember). i'm waiting for more HD in variety to upgrade my package (only add rm5 get two extra HD and few SD ) Boston Legal is not outdated la..it's the latest season. Oh well..Seinfeld is old but so is Frasier but kinda syiok in HD. FlashForward I think is on FX SD wonder why. Peep Show also good what..nice British humour. I like FX

Personally, I will have an orgasm if Astro can introduce SciFi HD here but I am only dreaming so excuse me while I go to the toilet.

Some of you just like to talk kok and sing song. Cancel the HD service by all means, nobody forced you to subscribe in the first place. I do not know what all the fuss is in the first place. Sure, paying an extra RM20/month might seem a little steep for some of you especially if you are currently only subscribing to Astro's basic package. When Astro first started, many were complaining that they were not given a choice over which channels they want. So Astro came out with the many packages currently which you can upgrade and downgrade anytime albeit with some penalty if you downgrade. Sure, we are not able to pick channels individually. Yeah it sucks but fact is, all of you do have a choice. Fact is, pay TV is here to stay and by definition, you will have to pay for extra services. Why did you buy a HDTV in the first place if you are not prepared to embrace HD? I'm prepared to pay whatever I can to enhance my viewing experience which was the reason for me to get a HDTV in the first place. Maybe I can afford it and some of you can't. Why blame Astro? It's like blaming someone or something when a guy is driving a BMW and you're not.
AFAIK, with the current package of Dynasty and mini package of Movie, Sports, Learning & Variety, one can continue enjoying all the HD channels on offer now. It's worth paying an extra RM20 just to enjoy football matches and other sports in HD. Whether that fee will increase in the future or not is irrelevant. Premium products require premium prices. Be prepared to pay for it or well...there's the basic package.

QUOTE(jalsrix @ Jul 12 2010, 11:09 PM) Not if the business is a monopoly. If you don't want to subscribe, there are tons of customers who have no choice. Blame it on XXX... They bundle the 'nobody wants to watch channel' with the popular channels and call it as a package. Some packages are logical eg. News, cartoon etc. but why is the Anime in the Variety package when it should be in cartoon ? Err...I dont think lumping Animax together with other cartoon channels is advisable. Some of those "anime" are not exactly for little kids viewing

If Astro wants to broadcast all 380 BPL matches live, isn't that good news? I can live with Dasey and without the ESPN pre-match shows but I'm sure we will still get to watch shows like Football Focus and err..Jamie Yeo?

QUOTE(dxjb @ Jul 23 2010, 01:36 AM) The thing is Astro seems to have backtracked on what they said back in November2009 after winning the EPL rights..back then it was said they would show all 380 matches Live..but now it seems that they say all 380 will be available not saying that its Live..yeah its no big deal but thats a big thing to backtrack on.. Jamie Yeo can pronounce players and club names well..she corrected the other fella on Football Crazy many times..the thing is whoever Astro will select to be their lady on the shows will only now about Man U, Beckam, Ronaldo and Torres.. I can understand your predicament. However, do remember that when Astro first started it was also an in-house presentation and matches were shown live almost to the seconds. When ESPN took over, matches were delayed for at least 3-5 minutes due to the censoring of certain advertisements by Astro. So, I suppose by taking over again, Astro is able to take control again which they were not able to with ESPN. OK, the core of your argument is about the in-house team of presenters. I can understand that also and feels ESPN is way better. I really hope Astro would be able to engage good pundits but it seems we may be stuck with the pundits features during the just concluded World Cup. Cottee and Sharpie are OK but Abbas and the rest are craps. Serbie, who was not featured at all during the WC, has his critics but his comments and knowledge of the game is way ahead of some, if I may say so. Still, it doesn't matter much as long as we are able to watch the games live although we might not get the commentary feed from Sky Sports which means no Andy Gray. What we could get is the alternative commentary feed from UK. As long as the "heavy breather" commentator is not featured then it's OK.

QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Jul 23 2010, 03:28 PM) i remembered seeing the last episode of last season's Football Focus and they all recount back the 8 years memory of the show as if that was their last show ever... i guess it was but never thought BPL package would be taken out of ESPN completely. just save the in-match commentators please.... or just replace them with the champion's league ones... Err..i dont think BPL is taken out from the ESPN lineups just that the feed to Astro will not contain any BPL matches. Just like Singapore last season when they did their own in-house pre-shows and all. I do sincerely hope that shows like Football Focus would be retained.

QUOTE(dxjb @ Jul 29 2010, 01:52 PM) Well..i always thought another sports HD was not on the card..didnt thonk astro would do it since they said only another 2 channel left for this year..definitely Supersport FTW.. what im thinking is that Supersport 3 might become like Sky Sports 3 in the UK..on match days when there are many matches played, Sky Sports 3 would be a screen showing multiple names and we pick which game we want to watch via the red button..when there are no matches, the channel will become a regular channel.. I think it would be a real shame and a real loss for Astro if they could not show all matches LIVE..coz they fought real hard in the bidding to the rights of all 380 matches..and they also had to go over budget to win the rights ahead of TM..they have the rights to show all the matches so why not use it..if they dont, sure they rugi big time..won the bid expensively yet not utilising their rights.. Fingers crossed..thats what Astro are thinking.. I saw an August promo by ESPN which includes the new BPL season. Dunno if it's a mistake on the part of Astro but I am hoping (fingers crossed) that the main matches of the week would still be shown on ESPN/Starsports while Supersport channels supplements with other matches with their own presenters/pre-show. Other than this arrangement, I cannot think of how Astro is gonna broadcast all 380 matches live.

QUOTE(dxjb @ Jul 29 2010, 07:54 PM) u sure u saw BPL on ESPN ad meh? Almost everyday i saw the ESPN promo..no mention of English football..they even put Sportscenter as a main attraction for the month of August..maybe u mistaken with the Star Sports promo..the Star Sports promo includes the Community Shield match between Chelsea n Man U..but no BPL..Astro FB confirmed that match is on Star Sports.. ABout ur idea of the main match on ESPN/Star Sports, I have already seen Nadi Arena (Astro's SPORTSCENTER) twice promoting Liverpool vs Arsenal 15 July 2010 10pm..unless Astro are doing their own match analysis and ESPN does theirs, i think big matches will end up on Supersport.. and Astro's new EPL promo (not the Torres one) has no mention of ESPN STAR..only the Supersport channel.. That's why I said it could be a mistake from Astro. I believe it's a genuine promo since ESPN will still broadcast the EPL to other countries. Just that the dude sitting at Astro forgotten to take it off. Sigh...still hoping for the best I suppose.
