Don't waste your money on expensive hdmi cable. Unless you are looking for the bud quality of the cable itself. Ie. Thicker, stronger. Physically, the more expensive or branded cable are of course better. But, lucky for us, it doesn't affect most of us. To know if a cable is bad, u have to try it yourself. If snow effect, I mean very bad snow effect or maybe the whole picture got color tint. Also problems like handshake issue.
Good cables, will probably be needed by ppl whom are running very long length. Ie 7m above.
So my personal opinion, buy the cheap one first. Then if cannot only get better cables. Make sure to check the connection first to make sure they are inserted properly before jumping to conclusion.

QUOTE(jpaul @ Jun 30 2010, 11:43 PM) i want the sound from my LCD, not HT. I dont wan to always on my HT when watching astro. hope someone can have the solution maybe it's your tv setting. check your tv settings at the sound/audio part. HDMI audio = Digital/analogue this setting is available on my panny plasma. So this means that byond/PVR does not actually off itself even on standby. It is still receiving and is decoding. This also explains the heat the units are producing and the instant on. This also explains the higher electricity bill.. Can someone post the electricity consumption in idle/standby and on?

this 3d thing astro is doing is to show what they can do with the hardware they have la..... nothing more. to be the first. maybe also to retain sports subscriber from cancelling their sports subscription. if you noticed, the astro byond ad has changed from lampard & messi to torres.. and at the end, with logos of other sports broadcast, eg. EPL, Serie A and many others... retention...

QUOTE(rizan_isma @ Jul 30 2010, 03:57 PM) i called astro and they sent tech to fix the prob. the tech even replace to new decoder, resetting, reboot, do pairing, doesnt make any different. the tech guy suggest me to check back the tv. then i refer to sony, they said shouldnt be any prob with the tv. "maybe" hdmi cable provided cant support the signal to tv and they suggest me to change to 1.4v hdmi cable. hence they cannot guarantee it will work for time being i'm using component cable. thx for ur opinion anyway. you can check and see if your decoder has HDMI enabled by going into setting > system info or something like that.
