Just installed the Byond PVR. When i enable DolbyDigital 5.1 connected to my AV amp, I face a terrible lipsync issue. It is worst for HD channels.
I tried setting even up to 200ms and it still doesn't sync correctly.
Everything is ok when i set it back to Digital + Analog (but i lose 5.1 channel)
Anyone face this problem?
Yes, i tried putting my set on standby and it was updated to the latest firmware. Also tried rebooting already.

QUOTE(writesimply @ Jun 22 2010, 11:42 AM) Lip sync issues happen. It doesn't happen a lot and it doesn't happen on all the channels simultaneously. fuad I don't think so in my case. I initially thought it was a broadcast issue but even when i use the PVR rewind, it is ALWAYS in sync when i set to analog. When i set to DD5.1, the audio not sync arise. I have also tried using HDMI > AVR and SPDIF/COAX > AVR. Same problem over HDMI and COAX/digital with out of sync audio issue when i enable DD5.1. Anytime i change back to analog, the audio syncs perfectly again.

QUOTE(writesimply @ Jun 22 2010, 12:07 PM) The PVR records the raw bitstream off the satellite dish. That means if the broadcast is off-snyc, it'll record that too. The analog audio can be either a stereo channel simulcast with the 5.1, or a 5.1 downmix. The stereo simulcast may not be affected by the off-sync. The downmix may use its metadata to sync with the video. Obviously the problem affects only the 5.1 channels. fuad Thanks for the input. However, the problem is so bad that i don't think it's a "lipsync" issue but an audio sync issue. Could it be my AVR? The audio is 2 seconds behind (setting up to 200ms still doesn't align the audio). And it happens only to DD5.1 tracks.

QUOTE(htc @ Jun 24 2010, 04:52 PM) jalsrix, i use composite but still find the picture quality better than old decoder I agree. The SD quality on Byond is better than the old decoders. 1) No more vertical banding compared to SD which was very visible on single shade of color background. I believe this is due very high compression on the older SD box. 2) Very good upscaling engine. As good as my TV and AVR (probably better).

Question on Byond SD upscaling. Does anyone knows where does it happens? In the Byond decoder or in the broadcast station itself? I would presume that it happen in the decoder itself. If that is the case, anyone know what chipset it uses?

Lately i am facing problems on my Byond PVR.
1) Most of the recording schedules does not sync with the actual broadcast time. For example, when i choose to record a show schedule at 8:25-8:45pm, the recording ends midway. The actual content starts and end at 8:30 and end at 9pm instead where there is a 15minutes slack.I believe the schedules are not correctly sync in terms of time.
2) Please get rid of the stupid record link feature and bring back the old Max feature. I have 6 episodes of the same CSI in a week. When i record in HD, the Byond PVR also records in AXN SD. Every week i have to do housekeeping on the recording to delete duplicated series.

QUOTE(TallJustin @ Jul 21 2010, 08:09 PM) Press OK so the banner displays then press Fav to cycle thru the channels Added on July 21, 2010, 8:46 pm1)What channel did this happen on? 2)I've just series linked CSI on AXN HD and after cross checking with AXN's website the B.yond decoder correctly selected the 5 times in the next week that a new ep is broadcast and has not selected any repeat screenings. Perhaps the synopsis is misleading as it is still generic. We are working to get much more episode specific synopses. 1) Channel 305 TVBC i believe is facing time sync. The start time for shows starts at 22:08-22:53 for The Judge Pao. All subsequent show times are not at 1/2 hour or 1 hour mark. E..g 23:38-00:03, 00:03-00:53, etc 2) I still don't understand how the series linked work. When i select to record CSI series link on 21 July, Wed @ 22:05, how does the PVR book this and subsequent series?
