I've bought the Samsung LCD tv and subscribe the byond promotion. Now I've been waiting for 2 weeks for Astro to call me up for the installation appointment. Then I call Astro callcentre and they informed me that no such order for my home installation.  Yikes... then I call the shop and they mentioned need to send to their HQ first and then to Samsung bla bla bla. Then I call Samsung careline and they informed me that dealer cans end the byond order directly to Astro. D@mn it. For those wanna see World Cup in HD, better apply byond yourself and followup with Astro.... not much time my fren to ding-dong with the electrical retailer shops. Save the RM240 on other cheaper models or just ask the shop to lower the Samsung price without the byond promo... i believe they can lower it by RM100 to RM150.

for me, it just take 3 working days from my form submission until installation...I sumbit my form last moday thru one of dealer's here, and today the astro guys come and install for me...damn fast...

noob question, from old decoder, we can set certain channel to be favourite channel and we can skip the non favourite channel when we activate the favourite menu (push 0 button)...however, how does this function works on b.yond...i already set several channel as favourite, but can't find the way to use that function...

My personal view after reading the Byond FAQ and comments/inputs the past 2 days from those that tried to use HD other than specified WD 320GB.

If need recording function immediately, get the Byond PVR - RM300 (for those with exisiting Byond), comes with 500GB and Dual Tuner. Problem is need to lay another cable or use stacker-destacker(cost RM300)

Second option need to buy WD320AV HD at @300 but only 320GB and one tuner. Compared to above PVR option, not worth it. This option will be great if any HD can be connected so no need to spend another RM300 for a "special"HD.

I'll just wait, maybe in a months time they will update the Firmware to accept any HD above 160GB. Then we can use our spare HDs. rclxms.gif

Just my opinion....

Seem like your HTiB doesn't have digital coax input, right?
If so, you can't. DD 5.1 can only connect using HDMI or digital coax output from byond decoder

What he meant is Astro exclusive right to broadcast using satellite until 20??, I forgot.
*
Not sure about that but based on teh Bernama article, apart from Astro, 7 others were given the license to provide pay tv services. However, non of them (except TM of course) have started operation.

Aside to Meon17,
You can buy Coax to optical converter (if your AVR have optical input). It'll cost you around 200-400)

DETV & Fine TV already started their service through IP network lol.
But only Astro has a right to broadcast through satellite.

Hey guys, we are not comparing but i think the starhub is exccllent
The picture quality of starhub better is better and sounds better. im a doctor dunno technical stuff well but i know how to tell the difference. Sumore no interuption during rain. We are using cable point whereas astro using satellite disc.
My mum in malaysia subscribe to HD. She regreted because one of the astro pl told her got TV HD. Now she wants to cancel but have to pay charges.
Even the SD channel at starhub is nice...but overall i think our price is reasonable with so mny channels. OUR HBO no  delay. The sound better. The surround better.
It's not about comparing but i pities you guys. You are consumers. i think by the time you have 10 HD channels, i think all of our channel is HD and we might not be payin for extras.
Sorry for my sarcasm.
P.S: If Astro is listening, it's not about making money but making the fans happy.
Cheers

to be honest, their SD channel in starhub is not much better than astro's... its still blurrish and blocky... that really surprised me considering its cable tv... bandwidth isnt their main concern, but they are still stingy with it lol

no you can't connect an external HDD to the PVR at the moment, why would you want to?

It will be great if PVR can support external HDD for additional storage, I will not hesitate to subscribe then.
