it's actually a really complex issue to sync the subtitle metadata stream with the Shifting delay of our censored output and the technology to do it has not been around long. This is why if we broadcast the show from our playout centre we do use closed captioning as there is no delay to deal with. Also sometime the foreign channels burn the subs into their feed rather then us doing it.
Lots of reasons for it. At least it's not like Cambodia where I saw 4 different languages simulateously all burnt into the feed. Literally over half the screen was covered in subtitles.

Those subtitles are coming from the channel and those channels are not local. The size of the font is not fully in our control.

There will not be open captioned (burnt in) subtitles on HD channels. Once we get a way to handle the subtitle metadata stream going thru our delay systems we will offer closed caption subtitles on SD & HD.

what version does it say it's on?
Press the Home button and down the bottom of the screen is the version number.

Make sure the decoder is well ventilated. Don't put something on top of it.

Reboot is the first thing to try here. Without sounding rude are you putting the decoder in standby or are you turning the power off? Turning the power off will not trigger an upgrade.

With your decoder on press the standby button on the remote. Within 5 minutes the box will go into software update mode. Updating could take another 5 minutes.

If it's still not working then there is an issue with your decoder which should be replaced

Sorry no updates on the HHD list to give. Maybe a little down the track they will easy off the requirements. All it takes is a couple of you to complain about a fried decoder due to an un suitable HDD and it has huge affect on the brand and your opinion on the product. The WD My Passport AV was recommended by the decoder manufacturer as the only suitable HHD today to use and is something we have agreed with after doing our own test

Have you noticed the EPG is now offset by 3 or 5 minutes to reflect the delay setting of the channel. Should help a lot with recordings.

yeah some channels just haven't given the details that far out.

Added on June 14, 2010, 11:15 pmnot all shows on HD are 5.1 so don't worry. the delay setting is different for everyone so pick which suits you best. The delay is caused by your HT processing time not the Astro b.yond box, so no point asking others what they set to, trust your ears.
Any descent HT will let you change the level settings for individual speakers so push up centre, pull down SR and reduce bass if default settings is not good.

AXN HD starts tomorrow along with FX HD, Zhizun HD (TVB & CCTV programmes). [v] closes, their call not Astro's, & is replaced by Fox (SD) on ch 710

it's been raised, the guys are looking into it.
While I know it's not the same function entirely a little tip is to use the green button and look at your favourites or using the ch+ or ch- buttons acts as a page up down while using the arrow up down only moves one slot at a time

Yes series linking has sarted but its very new and not across all channels. This is a huge step forward and it will quickly get better & better. I've gotta work hard on getting the channels to give me the right metadata to make it even more useful and user friendly.

Lipsync over 5.1 is be due to the processing time of your equipment downmixing the Dolby that is why you have a setting to change it to match your set up

Yes I need to improve the repeat recording issue. I'm working on a fix right now. In the mean time you can manually delete booked repeat episodes via the Planner.

Byond to HT with digital audio coax for 5.1 or normal red/white for stereo.
Basically send the audio only to the HT and video to TV

Naturally you need a 3DTV connected to B.yond to experience it

if you view the channel on a non 3DTV you will see a left and right split screen.
