Err.. let's try to keep the discussion as religion free as possible.
If you clicked on Source in the original quoted text, you'll find it to be the summary of a movie called Idiocracy. If it sounds corny, it is, but I think the message behind it is worth a second look because if you spend enough time traveling as I do, you begin to see a pattern. How many countries have you been to where an intelligent population is shackled by idiotic policies, where the intelligent is sometimes sacrificed so that the not-so-intelligent* will live. So on the one hand, we have this idea that natural selection has clear rules to ensure the survival of the species. On the other hand, we humans have been cheating that process for centuries with artificial intervention, creating imbalances that has no doubt changed the course of our history. How it will pan out from a social evolution standpoint is the question. *I don't deny that everyone is capable of being intelligent, just like everyone is capable of being a millionaire. But just because I am capable of being a millionaire doesn't mean that I am one so I am speaking in the present tense, describing what is rather than what could be. QUOTE(Beastboy @ Jun 2 2010, 09:53 AM) So on the one hand, we have this idea that natural selection has clear rules to ensure the survival of the species. Why you like to say this in most of the topics you started. Hey, I am begining to think this theory does not work. There is no such thing as the survival of the fittest. It only sound logical but it is really bullshit. |

QUOTE(faceless @ Jun 2 2010, 10:39 AM) Becoz I haven't got an answer yet to the conflict in that popular concept of evolution. Do you have an answer?QUOTE(faceless @ Jun 2 2010, 10:39 AM) Hey, I am begining to think this theory does not work. There is no such thing as the survival of the fittest. It only sound logical but it is really bullshit. Ok, so rather than say this doesn't work that doesn't work, how about sharing with us a theory that does work? |

Since you ask that so many times and applied it to so many situation, you still did not get an answer. My answer starting to shift to "it does not work". As to what works, I have not started to think about yet.

QUOTE(Beastboy @ Jun 1 2010, 01:54 PM) As far as I know, Stephen Hawking doesn't have any kids. That may be because he can't have any, he's paralyzed. QUOTE(Beastboy @ Jun 1 2010, 01:54 PM) Neither did Einstein QUOTE(wikipedia) In early 1902, Einstein and Mileva Marić had a daughter they named Lieserl in their correspondence, who was born in Novi Sad where Marić's parents lived.[21] Her full name is not known, and her fate is uncertain after 1903.[22] I guess you just proved yourself right Einstein and Marić married in January 1903. In May 1904, the couple’s first son, Hans Albert Einstein, was born in Bern, Switzerland. Their second son, Eduard, was born in Zurich in July 1910. In 1914, Einstein moved to Berlin, while his wife remained in Zurich with their sons. Marić and Einstein divorced on 14 February 1919, having lived apart for five years. |

QUOTE(wodenus @ Jun 2 2010, 01:03 PM) Professor hawking has three kids and he's become a grandfather QUOTE Personal life Hawking revealed that he did not see much point in obtaining a doctorate if he were to die soon. Hawking later said that the real turning point was his 1965 marriage to Jane Wilde, a language student.[11] After gaining his Ph.D. at Trinity Hall, Stephen became first a Research Fellow, and later on a Professorial Fellow at Gonville and Caius College. Jane Hawking (née Wilde), Hawking's first wife, cared for him until 1991 when the couple separated, reportedly due to the pressures of fame and his increasing disability. They had three children: Robert (b. 1967), Lucy (b. 1969), and Timothy (b. 1979). Hawking then married his nurse, Elaine Mason (who was previously married to David Mason, the designer of the first version of Hawking's talking computer), in 1995. In October 2006, Hawking filed for divorce from his second wife.[48] In 1999, Jane Hawking published a memoir, Music to Move the Stars, detailing her own long-term relationship with a family friend whom she later married. Hawking's daughter, Lucy, is a novelist. Their oldest son, Robert, emigrated to the United States, married, and has one child, George Edward Hawking. Reportedly, Hawking and his first family were reconciled in 2007.[49] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Hawking#Personal_life |
