I have a Aspire 4810TG and it doesn't heat up as much as the other laptops so I was wondering if this was an option.I checked out the only guide for overclocking laptop at laptoplogic.com while the comments I got from other websites were "no, no and no!". Anyone has ever successfully overclocked their laptops before? Kinda new at this btw. Any advices or persuasions appreciated!

Specs are
Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz,
RAM 4 GB DDR3,
HDD 320GB 5400 RPM,
Video Graphic ATI Radeon HD4330,
14 inch WXGA (1366×768)

i think cannot becoz when you overclock the risk to damage is very very high..coz laptop use simple and stock cooler for processor so yeah...don't overclock...smile.gif

Why they say no..no.. no?
Here the fact.

1. Laptop bios is lock - mean you have almost no feature to enable overclocking.
2. Hot idle temp - even their stock cooler can't cope with the temperature, and you want to add burden?
3 air circulation - too compact inside the case, so it's always not even good idea to oc it.

Normally you can't do it unless you can find a software that could read your clock PLL chip. I used to google around but gave up because I can't seem to find anything that works smile.gif

do not OC lappy, the lappy will become more hotter = easy to shutdown itself / not stable.

No....only can be done via software if the software can detect the CPU's PLL

Not just as simple as 'detect the PLL'. But depends on whether the software can detect the correct SMBus address on a given chipset. The PLL is connected and set through the SMBus interface. All you have to do is know the PLL model for your laptop and you're all set to OC. Automated detection of PLL is not yet supported on setFSB.

Here's my AMD Tigris platform at HWBOT: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/1024...520_2681.08_mhz
Unless your laptop's cooling system is clean and proper there should be no problem OC'ing at default voltage for a short time. After all, products need to have some tolerances built-in. Tolerances that we use to OC.

CPU/GPU tech is so advanced now that the average laptop users actually don't need to overclock. The main cause of lag in the system is bloated OS and user habit (visiting unknown sites and downloading malware unknowingly). Learn to tweak your OS. Change (or optimize blink.gif ) your computer usage habit. Heck that's how I learn to made my system faster when I was in junior high without funding to buy hardware.

Look for your laptop's service guide. There's always a system block diagram that shows the PLL.
As for getting 2.1GHz to 3GHz, impossible. 2.4 is more likely.

The coder did leave a way to overclock, for free, legit.
1) Read your PLL's datasheet.
2) Know which register to change.
3) ???
4) Profit.

That's how I did it. OC'ers keep their tweaks secret. So do I.

Find out the PLL to downclock. As for undervolting, there might be a utility out there. Google's your friend.

Nice rig you got there. You're lying if you got such a rig without knowing what's a PLL.

Google. Google. Google.
