Malaysia sends soccer player to World Cup
– the Electronic Sports World Cup!

The hunt is on for the country’s best electronic sports player



Kuala Lumpur, 30 May 2010 – There is another kind of soccer fever hitting town this weekend on 5 & 6 June 2010 at the Concourse of Bangsar Shopping Centre. Soccer video game - FIFA10 fever!

Professional soccer video game (FIFA10 © Electronic Arts) enthusiasts are invited to compete at the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) 2010 Malaysia Qualifiers for a spot to represent the nation at the ESWC Grand Finals in France.

ESWC 2010 Malaysia licensee and tournament organiser Go International Group is offering one Champion FIFA10 player an all-expenses paid flight, hotel plus autoberth trip valued at RM9,000 to the 7th global grand finals held in Paris, Disneyland from 30 June – 4 July 2010.

In addition, eight strategy game (DotA © Blizzard) teams will battle it out at FTZ Cyber Café in Subang SS15 during the same weekend. One team will win the autoberth in France valued at RM20,000. In 2008, the Malaysian flag was raised high as Team Kingsurf returned home with the Silver Medal for strategy game, Defense of the Ancients (DotA) in San Jose, California at the 6th ESWC. The team also made history as the first team to have met with a Prime Minister (Abdullah Badawi).

The prestigious e-sports competition returns after a year’s hiatus and Malaysians get a chance to defend the country’s reputation against 32 participating countries after Team Kingsurf’s impressive success. This year, Team Malaysia will include one FIFA 10 player, offering the player an opportunity of a lifetime to compete against hundreds of other hopefuls from around the world.

The ESWC 2010 Malaysia Qualifiers will also mark the kick-start of the 3rd annual FEYST10 - Indie Youth Fest Concert // Digital Delirium Xpo // Go International E-Sports Cup.

National Director of ESWC 2010 Malaysia and Managing Director of Go International Group, Jasmine Low, says, “We support Malaysian pro-gamers to achieve new heights. Each year, our youth gain exposure from these overseas competitions. They gain a sense of pride and achievement when they compete amongst the best gamers from around the world. It is during these festivals that youth learn about the invaluable pursuit of their dreams. Win or lose, it’s all worth the experience. And, it places Malaysia on the global map.”

ESWC 2010 Malaysia credits its venue sponsor Bangsar Shopping Centre, NIRO Granite, Play Interactive, SONY and partners Sendi Mutiara Multimedia, Gamers.com.my, FTZ Asia.net Cafe and BMW. Low invites football and video game enthusiasts to visit Bangsar Shopping Centre this weekend and participate in the football themed fun and games, including participating in casual video game tournaments. Lots of prizes will be given away. The event will operate from 10.00am-9.30pm on 5 & 6 June 2010 at Bangsar Shopping Centre’s Main Concourse. For those wishing to watch the DOTA teams battle it out, head over to FTZ Cyber Cafe on Sunday 6 June 2010 from 11am-6pm.

how to register as a participant for fifa10???

and what is the rules?
1- country or club?
2- tournament format? grouping or knock-out?
3- Duration? 5minutes? 6minutes?
4- how many slot per person? (e.g - kosmo tourney before 5 slot per person)

hopefully it would be 1 slot each. but i doubt it'll be 1 slot la, cause its suppose to take 128 players right?

Yes you can register it multiple times. Each slot is RM 25 and a max of 3 slot for a player. Payment must be done on the day of the competition for each slot that you've registered for.


Game version – The competition uses the game “FIFA 10” on Playstation 3 for Malaysia qualifier and opposes two players.

Games settings
The following server setting will be used by default:
• Mode : Preliminary rounds : Single match and played 5 minutes each half.
Top 16 – Finals : Home & Away games at 5 minutes each half.
• Team selection : Club ( both player can select the same club) No changing of club for that tournament.
• Level of difficulty : Legend
• Speed : Normal
• Injuries : On
• Radar : On
• Injuries : On
• Offsides : On
• Score and timing : On
• Camera : Tele
• Half-time : 5 minutes
• Stage : Random
• Weather : Clear
• Extra time & Penalty : Extra time in case of a tie. If tied at the end of the extension, the winner will be determined by Penalty Shootout
• Custom formations, tactics and set pieces are forbidden.

Players must play on the computer or console designated by the tournament officials. Players are responsible of the good installation and functioning of their accessories. This includes providing and installing the adequate drives when necessary, and providing the adequate type of cables or adapters when necessary. Tournament officials may possibly help the players with technical issues but may not delay the tournament schedule for such reasons.

or just play using default formation???

I don't get it why the teams are "invited" but you have to pay so much for it..

you can use the formations that is already set into the game. but you cant create your own formations or set pieces.

Is FIFA and DOTA the only games hosted by ESWC MAS? How about WAR3 RTS and Street Fighter IV?

Hi.. Last time I said that I wanted to give the slot to someone that wanted to go, but in the end he and his team couldn't go.. So I would like to nominate the main Sino team (if they want to go that is).. If they don't want to, then just They won't be going, so just give the slot to any other team that wants to go I guess..

wow, it was a let down that they wont be sponsoring traveling tickets and accomodations, so many potential teams to represent malaysia, yet so few who turn up.
