latest update here , i just open a maybank.sg account in the main branch in my area, and the super friendly staff told me that 1 month is needed for sg branch to mail everything to me, So, if anyone interested to open a maybank.sg account, do the following:
(1) go to main branch (save time)
(2) bring IC
(3) make sure u have maybank.my bank account with you
(4) no need bring any cash as the bank will directly debit from your account (500 SGD)
P/S: rate is 3.17xx : 1SGD , for 500 SGD (as of 17/1/2017) , you'll need to pay around RM1600

So is maybank the best choice of a sg account ?

I also heard cimb preferred by others.

Also stan chart.

Anyone has a pro and con analysis ?
*
for me yes , as it saves a lot of money (no need travel all the way to SG just to open a bank account), and if i am not mistaken, we can use the debit card withdraw money in Malaysia without any charges. the con that i know so far is u need to maintain average $500 per day or else u will kena $2 charges.

Happy Chinese New Year to you!  rclxm9.gif

Here is the list of items I received from Maybank Singapore, in case anyone else want to know about them:

1. Welcome Letter (showing your Maybank iSAVvy Savings Account number)

2. Maybank Singapore Online Banking Access ID Letter

3. Online Banking Access ID PIN Mailer

4. Online Banking Security Token

5. Maybank Singapore Platinum Debit Card

6. Maybank Singapore Platinum Debit Card PIN Mailer

7. Maybank PhoneBanking (Dial-Link) (Optional)

8. Maybank PhoneBanking (Dial-Link) PIN Mailer (Optional)
The general contact number is in http://info.maybank2u.com.sg/personal/cust...contact-us.aspx.

Telephone number: (65) 6533 5229

The thing is that the Maybank Singapore Customer Service Executive will not forward our call to the actual Maybank Singapore officer in-charge of opening our saving account. So, Maybank Singapore Customer Service Executive themselves do not really know about the actual processing status, unless being informed by the actual Maybank Singapore officer-in-charge.

I called the general telephone number twice a week. After being informed by the actual Maybank Singapore officer-in-charge, the Customer Service Executive should be able to tell you the date on which the items are sent out from Maybank Tower (Maybank Singapore Headquarters in Battery Road, Singapore) by mail.  After a week or so, you should receive the items in your house.
*
bro , may i ask how long u receive those things from Maybank SG ? the officer told me that i need 1 month. you also apply at Maybank Malaysia right?

Yes. Generally it's one month. However if face with problem, could be longer (like mine). The maybank people didn't know Poslaju returned it to them until I queried Maybank SG.  ranting.gif So mine was resubmitted.  bangwall.gif I do not know what's the current status.

Not all Maybank Malaysia can apply. Note that they increase the amount from SGD500 to SGD5000 to open. However after oepning, the SGD4500 can be removed.
*
why did the poslagu returned it to them? because when they send to your house u are away? i noticed that too on maybank.sg website , but then when when i apply for it, it is still $500 only (on 17/1/2017). for ur current situation , i think u better email or call to the maybank sg to check on ur current status

There's no news from Maybank Shah Alam at all. Let's see what happen now that it have been resend. Will email Maybank SG this Friday and see if the thing have arrived.
*
did u email them on ur application status within the 1 month of ur application? if yes , then perhaps i should email them on my application status , in case anything goes wrong

Slightly more than 1 month, for my case. I sent my application form, at Maybank KL Main Branch.

It is up to you really, but I called Maybank Singapore general contact number, at least once a week, to check whether they had sent the items (security token, debit card, and so on) to me.
In my opinion, it is not much helpful, if you call Maybank Shah Alam branch, which is responsible in only sending the form to Singapore.

Once your application form was sent out from Maybank Shah Alam branch, it is no longer the responsibility of Maybank Shah Alam branch anymore. You have to directly liaise with Maybank Singapore HQ, on any matter related to the processing of your Maybank Singapore saving account.

It is best to call Maybank Singapore general contact number directly. It is not cheap to dial Singapore landline number, but you will get faster response from Maybank Singapore, than sending e-mail to them.

alright noted ! thanks for ur information

(ii) hard to open bank account if we are in sg (require working permit / student pass if i am not mistaken)

so, they bully you because you are not able to go to SG and you do not have work permit/student pass? If this is the case, better they reject your application at the first place, rather for you to wait and wait for so long.

Is this the way they treasure their customer? I certainly do not think so!
*
not really a "bully" for me , send my application from malaysia branch to sg branch, then need verification, then send back to malaysia , 1 month still "okay" for me. some more they don't work during weekend.

u have better chance, cuz i ***gues*** u submitted before they increase it?
i can only hope/pray so, otherwise very troublesome... like the Chinese saying, two heads also don't reach shore.

i can't imagine the hassle and time require to have them return me the cheque and convert it back to MYR, plus possible losses due to exchange rate. at the same time, i don't feel like going to open anymore if it requires $S5k initial deposit, the bank's exchange rate is blood sucking, i just stick with my other SG bank acc without debit card.

will post the status here once i get it.
*
dun worry bro, cause before i went to the maybank i've do some research on it , i also saw the $5000 initial deposit, but i think should be fine
in another words, if i die, u die also haha, will update here if i received the parcel. estimated will received after 17/2/2017

try email them about your application status @ CallCentre@maybank.com.sg

that's how I get my update twice in a week. Put down your phone number with country code and let them know to call you instead of email.

edit: before they update you about the application status, they will verify certain info with you first (IC number, type of account opened etc...)
*
hi there, wondering how long did you wait for your parcel? i applied the isavvy account on 17 Jan 2017, but until today still not yet receive anything. did call Maybank MY but they ask me refer to the branch that i open the account. Since the staff told me i have to wait around 1 month, so i didn't call them yet.

hello,

for my case, i think i received it by the 3rd week of my application date. in between the 3rd week and 4th week i received a call to check with me if i received all the letters containing the information to activate my account.

perhaps you can email to maybank SG customer service instead to follow up? they only need you to provide your name, IC number, date of application and type of account that you will be opening. kindly state in the email for them to call you(state your +601X malaysia number) rather than email.

by then, they will be able to advise you on your account status.

hope the above helps.
*
okay , will do it asap !
