open first deposit later.
means that you can make a SGD demand draft from the counter itself where u want to apply for the SG MBB acc. one of the open application requirement is to submit a SGD demand draft, which is obtainable in the listed 40 maybank branches.

Hi. Thanks for the suggestion. Is there any additional requirement to open the iSavvy account in Malaysia
I was informed by one staff that in order to be able to open the isavvy account, must be Premier customer / deposit of 250k fixed deposit. Is this accurate?

nope. no such criteria such as above.  hmm.gif

unless the T&C changed.

Appreciate your swift response! smile.gif so the criteria are just as per the form? Ie existing Maybank customer, minimum deposit of $500? + of course form and ic?

Edit: just an update, unfortunately that's the 'additional' criteria now, at least where I'm from (I'm from sabah). Just been to the two branches stated in the form. Both of them 'state' the same prerequisite. Spoke to the RM at one of the branches too. Not sure if entirely true since some of you have managed to open them without any hassle.

oh never knew they changed the criteria. i opened mine in west msia KL. never been asked about the additional criteria before... maybe since my application till now, they are making it harder?  hmm.gif

sad.gif Thanks for the response anyway.

I got this criteria from C180 Maybank as well.

In the form, there's a list of place to go. Pick the one without Primer wealth/Priority Banking. Fill up the form and get everything ready. At the number counter, tell them you want to apply for isavvy SG account.

As above. I've already prepared everything. Just waiting for the form to be processed. Was told about the 'additional' criteria. Could you suggest /pm a particular branch in kl where it's possible to do so?

your location?  hmm.gif  maybe you went to the Premier Banking side. Just go to a normal operation branch.

I do find it odd that you have this 'additional' criteria at the premier wealth branches. Makes little sense to have 'different' policies.

And to have this stated on the official website without any uninformed additional criteria is just..

isavvy

No it's not. For those in sabah, according to the list, one must be a priority customer. Normal branches won't do application. However, for people in peninsular malayaia, won't be a problem as according to the list, you don't need to be a priority customer.

Priority banking should be not a problem for most working malaysian. Easily put in 6 months promo FD with them. After 6 months, withdraw out the money and relinquish the priority status. Settle.

If priority banking in SG using RM might take a while for normal working malayaian...

No offence. May i know which particular list are you referring to? If it's the list of branches in the application form, I'm curious as to how you are able to deduce from the list that the branches available in sabah are only for priority customers when the two relevant ones are the 'karamunsing ssc' and the 'kota kinabalu branch'. In any event, you've just indirectly stated there's a separate 'policy/t&c' for sabah Maybank.

The pic below showed all maybank branches which process application of Maybank isavvy in Sabah.

There are only 5 branches and all 5 branches have PWL written. PWL =  Premier Wealth Lounges

Now if you compare with say Bandar Utama, you noticed that with Bandar Utama, you don't need to be a priority banking customer.

Is not a separate 'policy/t&c' for sabah Maybank. Is just that branches which do iSavvy application in Sabah all happens that need you to be a priority banking customer before hand.

List of branches which process iSavvy application can be found on the last few pages of iSavvy application form.

Such is the way of life where the rich are given more opportunities than normal people.  sad.gif

Appreciate your feedback bro. However, I'm not trying to create an argument here. Would just like to clarify the issue. I do appreciate your direction on the PWL categorization, cause i was not aware of it before.

Other than the 5 branches that you've stated under the PWL/PWC category, there are also two other 'normal' branches that are stated under isavvy application form, i.e "Karamunsing SSC" and "Kota Kinabalu Branch". These can be found under the "Maybank Malaysia Branches for opening of S$ iSaVvy Savings Account". The other 5 PWL branches are found under the "Maybank Malaysia Premier Wealth Centres / Lounges for opening of S$ iSaVvy Savings Account.

Source
The above list is actually from this page (ref: 'Open a Singapore iSAVvy Savings Account at over 110 convenient locations in Malaysia')

These two 'normal' branches have also been stated in the standard form that is used to apply for this iSaVvy account:
Form standard 1
Form Standard 2
Form Standard 3

One of these forms have also be quoted by one of the fellow members here. I know about the harshness of reality, but i still can't get my head around this 'unwritten justification' that only PWL customers are able to open this iSavvy account in sabah sad.gif It's clear from the forms that the branches listed therein are just 'normal' branches and interested customers ought not be prevented from access to this particular product. I do agree with Hansel though, perhaps they're just trying to make it even more difficult and out of reach of the majority as time goes by.

I think if you noticed, they are PO box. Which means you drop the application into a post box. Is not exactly a branch. But no harm trying these 2 branches.

Sorry bro, i'd appreciate it if you could look closely at the address, and also not to try to 'cause some altercation' with someone who's a local as to the appropriate address. Just my two cents. And application by way of mail? blink.gif Perhaps i could enquire on that.

Hi guys! I'm happy to report that I've managed to open my isavvy account! So thank you so much for the guidance (from the difference questions and answers from other users) and responses! (just remember if the banks do taichi, just move on to another branch that is stated in the form bruce.gif . And also, there's a new form to be filled now! Make sure you fill up the latest edition if not you may need to refill the forms again and this will only cause further delay)

Also, now that I have activated my debit card (can't set limit though since it requires me to do it over the ATM) and my online banking, is there anything else i should be aware of? Like annual fees (i read somewhere that there is no annual fee but I'd like some confirmation), or minimum transactions if not the account will be disabled? Other than the minimum $500 deposit? Can I just leave my account 'dormant' for the time being?

And is it possible for me to sign up for the online access to view my card transactions (since it requires mobile number and i don't have a sg mobile number)?

Sorry if the questions sound noob.
