From the recent posts, it seems like no longer possible to open account if not working there?

Eh? I thought CIMB SG is the more cost effective one? Isavvy has SGD500 minimum balance requirement, while FastSaver has none.

Anyway, would like to add to the wealth of info in this thread on SG account opening:

1) Opened CIMB MY account at local branch (3pm 21/9 Monday)
2) Opened CIMB SG account online via CIMB SG website (5.30pm 21/9)
3) Initiated linkage of CIMB SG to CIMB MY via CIMB Clicks MY
4) Initiated Transferwise transfer SGD 1000 into CIMB SG account (11pm)
5) TransferWise transfer SGD 1000 completed (9am 22/9 Tuesday)
6) Linkage of CIMB SG to CIMB MY completed. CIMB SG account status shows "active" already when I checked. Still pending activation code for CIMB Clicks SG (5pm)
7) Performed SGD 1 from CIMB MY to CIMB SG for KYC (as advised on page 1).
8) Received call from CIMB SG for identity verification. Clarified with officer that CIMB MY "active" is just linkage active, not account active. (11am 23/9 Wednesday)
9) CIMB Clicks SG activation code received. (2pm).

This is still available then? since your application date is 21 september? tried to search website but cant find it...

I've got my account linked and funded, but never got a code for CIMB Clicks SG, how long does that take?

The few examples in the past few pages show 1 day.

Okay saw 10+pages back someone who posted a list of his steps. Looks like I'm still waiting for step 5... time to contact their CS and see if anything missing from my app.
*
No need 10 plus page back. There is one in the previous page itself. But glad you found another one.
After you receive their call, likely you get the code in the same day.

May I know how long it took for CIMB MY to approve the linkage with CIMB SG?

hi, i have a question.

i have opened CIMB Fastsaver and transfer SGD 1K to the account in SG.
but i received a call from them acknowledged receiving the transfer but also mentioned  i compulsory to have a CIMB account in malaysia else they will close my SGD account within 30 days

Is this true ?
*
If you read the previous discussions on opening cimb fastsaver you will notice 2 criteria to open the sg account.
1. open Msia account to link to sg account
2. transfer SGD 1k to the SG account.

And... Cheapest way to fund 1k sgd?

QUOTE(alexkos @ Mar 11 2021, 05:54 PM)
After wire sgd 1k, how much is needed to keep cimb sg account alive?
*
You use the forum for so long already dont know can edit post?
cheapest way is to use fintech like sunway money, instarem etc. Use at your own risk.
safest and fastest is transfer from cimb local to cimb sg and vice versa.
There is no minimum balance stated. Better check the website yourself in case there is any updates.

Im opening basic saving account, but they r asking a lot of questions, like purpose of opening and ask me to provide a valid document to support it(wth?). Which like they are giving you trouble to open, complaint to CIMB and the customer service replied decision for opening account is all up to the branches(wth?!).
Guess i have to find an easier branch?
*
It is up to branch, they said similar stuff too last time.

Ya I opened free basic savings account online, don't have other facilities with CIMB.
I only got charged RM15 for the debit card annual fee.
*
Hmmm, you didn't know got 2 version? The other one don't need debit card fee...

Can transfer $1 only for verification?
Remaining $999 can use big pay?
I thought the website said mim $1000 must use cimb clicks?

Btw, Bigpay takes how long to process and reach cimb sg?
*
$1000 is correct. but some people want to bypass.
Bigpay to SG bank instant.

just wondering,...is it the SAME for this 2 Malaysians in Malaysia?

Malaysian "A", invest in Malaysia,...investing in Stashaway Msia, buy unit trusts that are mandated out of Malaysia from FSM MY, buying overseas ETFs and etc etc

Malaysian "B", invest by channeling money to (for example) Singapore to invest. (Open bank and investment a/c in Spore). Then invest in Stashaway Spore, buy unit trusts that are not mandated to have Malaysia's stocks in its holdings thru the use of FSM SG, buying ETFs and etc etc

just forget about the cost of investment for this discussion,....
*
Interesting topic,
The difference would be the forex movement then?

Assuming all investments made by A are in ringgit. The investment returns would have included the forex movement. Even if there is no change in the investment value, the weakening of the ringgit may show a facade of increasing "investment returns".

Assuming B made investments in foreign currency, he could choose when he wants to convert the currency and is not subjected to the constant forex movement.

may i know your chronology?

1. I applied on aug 28.
2. get email about the application, got the account number.
3. I proceed to link sg account from cimb clicks Malaysia.
4. i didn't receive any call. I'm waiting for the activation code to register cimb clicks sg.
5. still nothing till today.
6. i proceed to transfer 5sgd from my to sg for test to see if my account is "active". It was successful. I did it a few hours ago.

what did you do before you receive the call?
still waiting for the call. a bit reluctant to transfer sgd1k straight unless told so that i need to do it before i get my sg clicks activation code.
*
You mentioned you received the email right? Inside should have mentioned you need to fund your account for account activation. The email also stated the clicks activation code will be sent AFTER account is activated.

Guys dont need panic(just in case anyone actually was) Looking back at his posts history, he was put on cimb watch list for some crypto scam or something.
Not cimb sg shutting down. So most likely he was singled out.
