Sorry can borrow this thread awhile? I have both Maybank SG (aka tiger head) and CIMB SG. Can I know in Msia in terms of ATM and branches which bank got more? E.g in Johor, KL, Penang these 3 big states for e.g. I am not going to withdraw cash from their ATM, branches of cuz but sometimes emergency arises may need so get info first as long time no visit Msia.

In Spore CIMB has very few ATM which can explain why they can offer the most competitive FD rates as lower operating cost (e.g infra, workers etc)

You know Msia very big correct? Depend where you are not all shops etc high tech they still only accept cold hard cash. The place I go is small town with kampong kind not those taman and high rise places. So must go town bank atm press monies take out. My spouse former Msian so I know abit of inside culture etc. Also I say for emergencies as usually inside relatives got MYR to change with me.

Why do I need to get the card if I visit Msia once a year? I already say for emergencies only and Msia relatives can change with me.

That time you take night train come Spore open bank acct then eat bread then take night train back on same day you got apply any card in Spore to use?

I go Msia never use any card all cash. If card is purely for emergencies which is why I ask this question. Credit card,bank card is sufficient since I don't visit Msia so often. Once the elders all die finish I not going in already. Too much coffee monies to pay if not careful. Even the locals there warn me don't wear too nice and drive SG license plate car etc.

You come in a day use bigpay buy bread eat? You buy atas bread to eat? Else Gardenia etc brand one loaf 10+ pieces easily can use cash. So breakfast lunch dinner one loaf of bread should be enough and then for water drink plain water or use bigpay buy mineral water? Those 1.5 litre one bottle kind?

That is true from my previous exp. I got Spore cc then in Msia got roadshow apply xxx cc got freebies promotion. When the promoter hear I Sporean not working in Msia wave me away. I guess she know my application sure get rejected and she would have rugi the freebies as they give on the spot! Not wait for approved then give. Sad to say I never get the freebies.

Don't worry so far I haven't heard of any banks registered with Spore MAS go bankrupt. It is IT system glitch same as our DBS awhile back.

But it does inconvenience customer agree but that group is not big in Spore since CIMB SG only got 1 ATM so most ppl only use it for online deposit and withdraw.

Your CIMB acct with them kena closed before har? You not alone I read news some ppl doing crypto trading also acct kena closed down.

Not sure about Msia banks but Spore banks very on the ball partly due to strict Spore MAS ruling or they simply too efficient. No wonder foreigner companies first time come Southeast Asia choose Spore as HQ. If that company more used to coffee monies style will not choose Spore.

Agree so it is a matter of how many times kena and how many times never kena ppl called it probability. Same like Msia kena coffee monies how many times vs Spore kena coffee monies how many times. Then based on each person odds calculation make their decision. I kena SGX Soilbuild REIT delisted at their asking price just to share.

Rules change along the years but based on the latest website https://www.posb.com.sg/personal/support/ba...-below-fee.html the 500 is still there. Maybe the website not updated or the account type is different.

I have CIMB SG and strictly speaking it is not a pure 100% online account becuz it actually can issue ATM card but that time when I open whole Spore only got ONE ATM outside their branch and I still got that CIMB ATM card in my house gather dust hahaha. So realistically speaking it is an online account by most ppl experience.

I got this too usually is slightly better FD rate compared to other account type which can have counter service as need employ ppl service you so added cost. iSavvy is online account basically.

Assume latest yes and minimum 500 and counter service for such acct super expensive!

That is why most Msian prefer CIMB SG. But we have to be fair to Maybank SG they open so many branches in Spore need feed employee salaries operating cost etc compared to CIMB SG so few or only 2 branches?

Read in Spore forum Maybank will close acct of customer who use their acct like business or cryto. Some reader carousel seller use Maybank acct for accept monies txn kena close acct appeal rejected. So careful Maybank checking quite strict

I think reader is also asking separate issue if use CIMB SG savings kind of account do business will kena closed like Maybank or not. For this I not sure since I don't work in banks. Some banks check more some check less I guess so try luck I guess

First can I know you open SG bank account is for what purpose? To transfer funds to broker for invest? To use it to collect monies from business? Etc etc

Becuz if you say one branch only is like you come Spore visit then urgent need go to that one branch press monies out? If that is the case please have Maybank SG their branches and ATM cover much more over Spore.

Spore still got places not advanced can use phone app or card do payment you still need the old fashioned cold hard cash like Msia you know? E.g eat zhi char in coffee shop at my place take cold hard cash

Sorry sidetrack abit. 2 months? You have relatives living in Spore? If no you stay hotel for 2 months?

Just to share the other way is also very difficult. I Sporean want to put Msian bank FD and open acct last time the criteria so many until I give up. In the end borrow and use Msian relatives name to open and put. But FD mature MYR depreciated so much never earn so I never follow through to open Msian bank acct. That is 15+ years ago? Now internet era maybe different

I really admire your patience and willpower to open Spore bank account. It is like do or die mission. I guess once you graduate you either work in HK or Spore. As for Msia maybe. Furthermore you got so many relatives in Spore and one of them live in my town actually.

Btw you eat Spore food vs Msia food find any diff? I find Spore chicken rice nicer than some Msia chicken rice where the rice is white rice. But this is for other topic noted.

Not trying to be mean but if coming from Msia need change to SGD that is 3+ MYR to 1 SGD which means must change a lot MYR. Unless come Spore to work and not to spend then different story. But of cuz got relatives in Spore is ok

I think you brought up the key point that was 7 years ago. Bank policies could have changed along the years more stricter or more lenient whatever. TOS experience is this year 2022 so is latest info.

SG tourist spot easy to find online but specific for paktor I not sure. Usually ppl go Marina Bay Sands, Spore River stretch to see night scene etc. And maybe go Orchard Road also. Others are Sentosa, Spore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park etc not all ladies like to feed mosquito and getting sun burn etc
