I tried couple weeks ago when the border opened at Jurong Branch but failed to get my DBS Acc opened. Vickers oso not possible.  Only possible to open their Wealth Acc with min. SG300K maintained, otherwise will have bank changes and if you thinking of closing your ordinary savings acc after ur Wealth Acc opened, tat wont work too, all Acc will be linked and if Wealth Acc closed, semua closed

Maybe new rules. But likely they trying to earn money from you.
If I were you, take the train or bus or plane to sg with sgd3k, walk into DBs hq at marina bay financial center and try open their DBs Vickers. By opening their DBS Vickers usually they will open bank acocunt together for you. No need so much money. But that was 7 year ago. Not sure if anything change. See ikanbilis reply later.

Going to SG in Late July. Will close my Maybank SG account.

I am thinking of opening either OCBC or UOB account as a backup local SG account in case DBS system went down.

Any comments on OCBC vs UOB? (Leaning towards OCBC as there's a branch on NTU's campus. But all 3 local banks have ATM on campus so not much of a problem)

DBS keeps spamming my cousin's SG address mailbox will T-bill notification letter every 2 weeks. I feel sorry for him.

OCBC and UOB don't send physical notification letters, an advantage, opportunity cost is 1k SGD tied-up inside OCBC/UOB account. Just don't know whether to choose OCBC or UOB?

With wise you get 3511.04 rgt compared with MAE 3486.75 for 1000 sgd. So it's cheaper with WISE as you get more rgt for the 1k sgd.
