Dont go to the big 3. Go to Stan Chart at Raffles Place. There is a trick to let them open for you without questions. PM me if you want to know how.

Go to standard chartered at raffles place and tell them you want to open an account for share trading purposes. Bring at least SGD3k for account opening.

alexanderclz, alright, no worries.

Try asking ikanbilis. We may be ill-advised to perceive that ikanbilis is just a anchovy, but ikanbilis did post a screenshot of ikanbilis's sizeable SGD money in ikanbilis's DBS / POSB savings account, in this forum.
ikanbilis did offer to exchange SGD for MYR, at a fee which should be cheaper than what is charged by Fintech and any bank.

Disclaimer: ikanbilis, no offense is intended. If I am not mistaken, you did offer to exchange SGD and ASNB units, to interested posters in this forum.

Disclaimer: I do not have any relationship with ikanbilis, and do not gain any profit from the potential transaction(s) between ikanbilis and jack2.

there's pro and cons... quite a few banks have fall-below fee so you have to be careful when picking a bank (e.g., if your average monthly balance is below S$500 there's a $2 monthly service charge)

https://dollarsandsense.sg/4-banking-accoun...singapore-know/

in my case, want to close my acct there also think twice bcos if want to reopen again, the fall-below threshold will be $1000

If you have the DBS savings account, you can open another DBS My Account online which has no fall below fee. After that you can close DBS Savings account.

I closed my POSB savings after opening MyAccount. Some months i leave SGD 1 in My account and no fee ever being charged.

I can vouched for that. I levae my DBS my account with only SGD0.10.
How much you leave yours?

When i was having both accounts, i left My account with zero balance no problems whatsoever.

After i closed my posb savings account, i always leave it with at least sgd1 to be safe.

I tried couple weeks ago when the border opened at Jurong Branch but failed to get my DBS Acc opened. Vickers oso not possible.  Only possible to open their Wealth Acc with min. SG300K maintained, otherwise will have bank changes and if you thinking of closing your ordinary savings acc after ur Wealth Acc opened, tat wont work too, all Acc will be linked and if Wealth Acc closed, semua closed smile.gif

Pls share ur experience if u managed to open ya. Maybe u have better luck. But my impression is they are getting more strict as my fren who oledi have Sg OCBC Acc applied for a Debit Card and CS asked for his work permit pulak

Maybe new rules. But likely they trying to earn money from you.
If I were you, take the train or bus or plane to sg with sgd3k, walk into DBs hq at marina bay financial center and try open their DBs Vickers. By opening their DBS Vickers usually they will open bank acocunt together for you. No need so much money. But that was 7 year ago. Not sure if anything change. See ikanbilis reply later.
Need how much to open account?

Sgd3k to open the bonus saver account.

Must maintain min sgd3k at all times else sgd5 fee will be deducted every month

Going to SG in Late July. Will close my Maybank SG account.

I am thinking of opening either OCBC or UOB account as a backup local SG account in case DBS system went down.

Any comments on OCBC vs UOB? (Leaning towards OCBC as there's a branch on NTU's campus. tongue.gif But all 3 local banks have ATM on campus so not much of a problem)

DBS keeps spamming my cousin's SG address mailbox will T-bill notification letter every 2 weeks. I feel sorry for him. sweat.gif

OCBC and UOB don't send physical notification letters, an advantage, opportunity cost is 1k SGD tied-up inside OCBC/UOB account. Just don't know whether to choose OCBC or UOB?

Past users can share experience? Or sifu Ramjade ikanbilis?
*
Choose OCBC over UOB. UOB internal control systems weak and there had been cases of scam/fraud and bank is not helpful.

Transfer SGD1000:
-Wise : fee 26.14 total: 3511.04
-MAE total: 3486.75

With wise you get 3511.04 rgt compared with MAE 3486.75 for 1000 sgd. So it's cheaper with WISE as you get more rgt for the 1k sgd.

Think you misunderstood. This is buying SGD using RM.

If you selling SGD, based on todays exchge rate, nobody will ever give you more than RM 3500
