If I don’t have a Singapore number, can still use DuitNow overseas transfer? I tried searching past topics but cannot find any relevant information.

By the way, is it possible to do wise transfer from my Maybank Malaysia to Maybank sg account for the initial deposit?

looks like MBB sg can have more competitive rates when remitting back to Malaysia sometimes (don't worry, CIMB sg will refund the difference if u show proof https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/promoti...sfer-promo.html )

adam1190 what sg bank accounts you've opened so far

Planning to open Maybank sg as I am currently Maybank Malaysia holder and I am not able to open cimb Malaysia account as I am offshore..

So wanted to see the difference in exchange rate between Maybank and cimb when converting money from SGD to MYR..

i have a MBB SG.

Wise or Instarem exchange + fee has always been better every time i want to perform the exchange compared to MBB SG

Instarem can convert sgd to myr?

Cannot use that way anymore Cimb not earning money. Only way is cimb Malaysia or as intended local sg bank account under your name.

That’s sad for the first transfer verification purpose as the exchange rate to transfer from cimb Malaysia to own cimb Singapore account is ridiculously high at 3.33+ as compared to the real exchange rate at 3.27+ ..

go for these alternatives

  • ocbc SG. ask the regulars here who use OCBC for referral codes

  • MBB sg

once you created with either of them, u can then create a CIMB sg acct by doing a free local bank transfer.

before OCBC/MBB sg -> you need CIMB sg more than they need you
after OCBC/MBB sg -> you now have the high ground. it's only CIMB sg's loss if they didn't open acct for you
*
I never expect the spread to be such a big difference from the mid point exchange rate cimb my to cimb sg ..

The cheapest way from cimb to cimb Singapore is via DuitNow / transfer only right

MBB sg with debit go for ar-rihla. Minimum balance only S$200 https://apply.maybank.com.sg/regionalcasa/A...Opening/arrihla

The OCBC sg acct with debit card will require S$3,000 minimum balance. But this requirement waived for the 1st year.  So u can open OCBC with debit card first for 1 year, then close acct and open ar rihla. You can get another type of OCBC acct with minimum balance of S$500, but that won't come with debit card

CIMB no debit

May I know for Maybank sg, how long it takes to complete the account opening?
