Hi I'm not OP but this is what I did. I told them I already deposit 1k SGD for my CIMB SG account and to get my account approved I need an MY account. The staff were kinda lost so I assumed the branch manager approached me. I open cimb basic saving account online, and get sms I can go any branch to do verification and collect my acccount.

So I explained everything to him, its for stock investment and i need to move money between MY and SG and so on. so he asked for prove and paperwork.
Took them an hour to verify(I think they made a phone call to their SG counterpart?) and finally they approved me
TLDR just tell them its for investments and not savings
